Hooray, finally, a new chapter! I'm sorry everyone for the wait. I'm at a big change in my life, and well, I'm also lazy. Sorry this is so short; I hope it isn't too bad. I just wrote it. Hehe. :P I'll edit it later, when it's not 2 in the morning...

Anyway, thanks to all those people who have favorited, followed or reviewed! :D Don't worry, the story is not over! This is the end of the OVA, but the beginning of her 'new' life. :) I've gotta make up the plot from here. If you're still reading this, how do you think the story should go from here? Will she get a job? Will she be found by her 'Boss'? Will she ever have a name? What should her name be? So many questions! ;) Please review and let me know what YOU think will happen!

Thanks again, everyone. I appreciate the support...a lot! 3 Free (virtual) cookies for everyone!

Simply One Hell of a Writer~

Night had fallen, and crickets chirped. Lady Elizabeth murmured sleepily, resting in Sebastian's arms as we walked towards the waiting carriage. I stood beside Ciel Phantomhive, the boy I was supposed to kill, watching as his butler gently lay Elizabeth down onto the plush carriage seat. "I must say-" The Earl said, without looking at me. "Lizzy seems quite taken with you." I glanced over. "And I must say I am glad to met you as well." Something stirred within me, warm and pleasant. I quickly shoved it away, focusing on my ex-target. I tried not to think about the consequences of my failure, or the raging emotions inside. The Earl smiled and met my gaze as he continued "I hope you don't mind, that dress belonged to my late mother." I knew it! "I want you to keep it. It should be worn." I opened my mouth-I wasn't sure if I was going to even say anything-but Sebastian bowed and interrupted. "Pardon me, milady, but your carriage is ready." I felt a sudden surge of…anger, confusion, and something else, hot in my chest. I took a slow breath, nodded, and allowed the mysterious butler to help me into the carriage. I still had to pretend, for the Earl. As I sat across from the maid and Lady Elizabeth, the Earl spoke up once more through the glass. "Thank you for celebrating your birthday here with us tonight. I do hope to see you again." Did he mean that? I couldn't tell if he was being sincere, or polite. I shook the thoughts away. I moved my gaze to Sebastian as he smiled courteously, as if he was just a simple butler, and said "We'll always be more than happy to offer you the famous Phantomhive hospitality." My mind flashed back to the dance, and I was shook out of the memory by the neigh of the carriage horses. As the ruby-eyed, pristine and…deadly…butler moved out of my sight, I heard him say "For now, we bid you goodnight." I leaned back, closing my eyes as the carriage began it's bumpy trip.

Boy and demon watched the carriage grow smaller and smaller as crickets chirped around them. Ciel broke the silence, still staring at the road where the carriage had left. "Well that was quite a bother." Sebastian bowed his head. "Apologies, my lord." In reply, the Earl yawned, lifting a hand to cover his mouth. "Bloody tired. Bring me some tea." He ordered, turning back towards his manor. "Of course." With that, the pair walked inside, the Phantomhive doors closing for the night.

The bump and movement of the carriage felt oddly rhythmic, and I studied the sleeping pair before me. Maid and lady slept upright, heads resting on one another. They looked so…peaceful. I glanced down at the knife, my knife, in my hand. assassins don't fail. A voice whispered. I thought back Maybe I…I shouldn't be one, anymore. Another unfamiliar emotion stirred within me. Killers had to be emotionless, efficient. What was it that made me lose my control? Was it the people?

Maybe….I should try a….a different job. I slid the blade back inside, staring at it resting in my palm. Boss would kill me anyways, once he found out I failed. Maybe…it's time to stop…..A new thought popped into my mind, and I smirked. Quietly, as to not wake the slumbering pair across from me, I whispered to myself. "I never liked being the 'Mad Dog of Venice' anyway." What will you do now? You don't have any other skills? How will you- Before I could hesitate any longer, I tossed the knife out of the carriage, as hard as I could throw. I couldn't hear it land, but that was okay.

I can't make up for the lives I've taken, but I can stop taking any more. That's good….right?

I closed my eyes once more, allowing my body and face to sag, and relax.

I suppose I should thank the Phantomhives and their friends…An image of the burnt trio by the kitchens filled my mind. The odd, sentimental pair in the library. The perverted, mysterious Chinese man. Lady Elizabeth who was always cheerful….the Earl who gave me his mother's dress….

The inhuman butler, the 'demon' who almost killed me. I didn't know what he was, and I didn't want to think about it. I swallowed hard, forcing the image of a red-clad, feminine man and his cold partner out of my head. I don't want to think about today any more, or about the future. I'll….I'll get used to feeling…and worry about everything later. For now…

For now….Goodbye, old life. I won't miss you.

The corners of my lips turned up in a small, genuine smile.

Goodbye.
