Hey, everyone! Are you excited for Chapter 17? Well, here it is! First, though, I would like to say "Happy Birthday" to BTRrusher1! Hope you have a great day! Once the two girls got back to the house, they silently ran up the steps and straight to Lela's room.
"Hey, Tess… Tessa? Lela, go get Butchy! Now!"
"Ok! Butchy!" Lela called as she ran toward his room.
Mack looked around the room, the sheets were all on the floor, the lamp was on the floor, the window was open, and Tessa was nowhere to be seen. Then Mack heard Butchy complaining.
"Lela, why you'se waking me up at… 12:30?"
"Tessa is missing!"
"Missing?! What?!"
"Mack and I went out for a bit cause we couldn't sleep, we asked Tessa if she wanted to join us, but she didn't. So, we went for a walk, within shouting distance of anyone. We just got back a couple minutes ago and Tessa isn't in my room! The Bathroom door isn't closed, she wasn't downstairs, and…Butchy, I'm scared. What Speed took her?"
"Lela, calm down. I's worried, too. But we's gonna figure this out."
The two ran back to Lela's room, and saw Mack kneeling next to the sheets. Butchy was surprised at how much was out of place.
"Anything?" Lela asked.
Mack stood up, and walked over to the window. After looking down, she noticed a leather jacket blowing in the wind, caught up on a nail on the veranda.
"Yeah."
Mack ran down the stairs, out the back door and grabbed the jacket, knowing full well that it wasn't Butchy's.
"Mack, what…oh, no." Butchy said, whispering the last part.
"Oh, no, what?" Lela questioned.
"That's Jeffery's jacket."
"Who's Jeffery? I know he's in the Rodents, but who is he?" Mack asked, pointing to the patch in the back of the jacket.
"He was one of my most trusted friends. Until now." Butchy said, "We grew up together. Mack, bring the jacket. Let's get back inside. We'll start a search first thing in the morning."
The Next Morning
Lela woke up to the sound of talking in the kitchen. She could pick out 4 different voices. She could hear Butchy, Lugnut, Struts, and CheeChee. She looked around and saw Mack smoothing out the turquoise shirt with a side tie, that she was wearing. Not only was Mack wearing that, but she was also wearing white shorts and grey flip-flops.
"Morning, Mack." Lela yawned.
"Lela, you're up. Tanner and Brady will be here any minute, so hurry up and get dressed."
"On it."
Lela slipped out of bed just as Mack left the room and closed the door. She ran into her closet and grabbed some clothes before running in the bathroom and slipping them on. She was now wearing a pink, polka dot, crop-top with light pink shorts and her heeled boots. Once she was done, she headed downstairs just and Tanner and Brady were coming in.
"Tanner!" Lela exclaimed, flying down the stairs and straight to Tanner.
"Whoa! Lela, what's up? You usually don't try to tackle me."
"The reason we called you over here is because Tessa has disappeared." Butchy explained.
"Mack and I went out for a walk last night cause we couldn't sleep, and when we got back, Tessa was gone!" Lela explained.
"Well, did you find any clues as to what happened?" Brady asked.
"Yeah. Lugnut, you know how Jeff has been acting off since Speed arrived?" Butchy asked.
"Yeah. Why?"
"I think he got in and kidnapped Tessa. For Speed."
"What?!" Everyone screeched, very loudly.
"Ow! And yes, I think that's probably what happened." Butchy exclaimed.
"But…where would he have taken her?" Lela asked.
"I wish I knew, Lela. I wish I knew." Butchy said, hugging Lela and rubbing her back as she sobbed softly.
