2 years later.

Charlie stumbled down the stairs of the girl's dormitory, holding her head tightly, grimacing at the light coming through the windows and groaned.

"I'm never drinking that much again." She said and dropped down on the sofa next to Liam who was resting his head back against the sofa with his eyes closed.

"Me neither." He groaned but made room for her, letting her lay her head on his shoulder.

Both of them winced when the portrait door opened and slammed against the wall, making a loud bang.

"Sorry troops but you'll forgive us, we come bearing gifts." Ryan smiled brightly and walked over to the sofa they were sitting on with Luke.

"If it's a new head it's gratefully welcome." Charlie said, her voice muffled against Liam's shoulder.

"Nope something better than that." Luke smiled and held out two vials of hangover potion.

Charlie let out a moaned of relief and grabbed the bottle, un-stoppering it and then swallowed it down in one gulp, feeling the effect immediately.

"That was one hell of a party... well from what I can remember anyway." Luke grinned,.

Ryan smiled "Yeah thanks guys, it was a lot of fun." It had been his sixteenth birthday the night before as well as the last night of their fifth year so they had used both as an excuse to hold the party of the year in the Gryffindor common room, well it had started there Charlie had woken in the great hall with several other students and then stumbled back to bed passing various students in different states of drunken stupor around several places in the castle, including the grounds.

Charlie chuckled "My dad will blow a fuse if he finds out about this."

Ryan laughed "Charls there's no way he's not going to find out, McGonagall came in around 3:00am and kicked the remaining people out."

"Ahh shit... well it was worth it." Charlie shrugged "Wait how do you remember McGonagall coming in anyway?" Charlie asked him.

Ryan sat down with them "I wasn't as drunk as you lot, enough to make me a bit stupid but I can still remember what happened last night." He smiled "You were all very entertaining."

Charlie's eyes widened "I didn't tell anyone about my..." She quickly looked around to check no-one was in listening range and carried on. "Curse did I?" She finished panicked.

"No Charlie I cast a charm on all three of you to monitor what you were saying." Ryan smiled.

Charlie let out a sigh of relief "Thank you Ryan." She smiled gratefully and relaxed back into the pillows.

They all turned when the door banged open again and winced when they saw a furious McGonagall.

"You are all in so much trouble." She shouted.

Charlie sighed and stood up "professor it was just a birthday/end of year party" She defended herself "It just got a little out of hand."

"A little out of hand?" McGonagall repeated "We were still collecting peopled this morning that had passed out drunk." She said angrily.

"Professor we really didn't mean for it to get out of control, we didn't even invite half the people that came."

McGonagall sighed "Charlie you could have let something slip."

Charlie started to get angry "I', not going to let this stupid curse ruin my life, I'm not going to give up my fun and the best years if my life because of something I didn't even ask to have."

Remus walked in behind McGonagall looking displeased and Charlie sighed knowing there was absolutely no way her dad wouldn't find out about the party.

"Charlie what did you think you were doing?" He sighed.

"I was having fun Uncl... Professor." Charlie said folding her arms.

Remus sighed again and looked at the boys "Boys can I ask you to leave for a second I need to speak with Charlie in private."

They all huffed and looked at her making sure she was okay, and she knew they wouldn't leave if she asked them to stay, bus she nodded and watched them walked away.

Remus pulled Charlie to the side "Charlie I was helping clear up last night and I saw you walking back to your dorm, I went to help you then realised that Mason was following you."

Charlie's eyes widened "What?" She asked shocked and Remus nodded.

"I couldn't do anything physical since he wasn't actually doing anything, but I stopped to talk to him so you could get back to your dorm. He was agitated and kept looking over my shoulder so it seems fair to say that he wasn't just walking behind you." He informed her.

"That son of a..." She started but was interrupted bu Remus.

"I'm still your uncle young lady, no swearing." He said firmly but kindly.

Charlie rolled her eyes but smiled "I'm really sorry about last night, honestly it wasn't meant to be that big."

Remus pulled her in for a hug and stroked her hair "I know you wouldn't have done it on purpose and I'm glad you got to have fun, but please be careful, your dad would skin me alive if I let anything happen to you."

Charlie laughed "I'm fine and I can handle stupid Mason." She smiled "I'll meet you in the great hall so we can aparate home."

"Okay sweetheart." Remus nodded and let her go.

Sirius sighed, sitting at Lily and James' table, rubbing his hands over his face getting rid of the tiredness. He had been out on an Auror mission all night. But at the same time he was excited about Charlie coming home today.

Thinking about Charlie, Sirius gritted his teeth as he thought about the information he had been told this morning about events from last night.

"Sirius you okay?" Lily asked.

Sirius' jaw tightened more "I can't believe she got drunk."

Lily rolled her eyes and sat down opposite him "Sirius, she's nearly sixteen she was going to experience it at some point."

"Exactly but not now, she's only fifteen!"

Lily laughed at him "Yep and if I remember correctly by the time you were fifteen you'd been having sex and had a baby." She pointed out.

Sirius frowned at her "Yeah... well... this is different!"

"How?" Lily asked.

"Because she's my baby girl." Sirius sighed.

"Sirius she's going to grow up and there's nothing you can do to stop it, you're just lucky that you and Charlie have the special bond that you do and she hasn't started ignoring you like most teenagers would.

Sirius sighed and nodded "I know, I just still think of her as that adorable little three year old who'd jump on me at six in the morning so we could play quidditch with her baby training broom." He smiled at the memory.

Lilly smiled with him "She was such a cute little baby, then your genes kicked in and she became and gorgeous little terror!"

Sirius laughed and then heard the door open up, he stood quickly, a big smiled on his face as he heard Remus' voice, and he knew that meant that Charlie was here.

Sirius stopped in his thoughts as his daughter crashed into his chest and wrapped her arms around his waist.

Sirius chuckled and held her close, kissing the top of her head. "I missed you Charlie bear."

"I missed you too. She smiled up at him but he saw through the innocent act and raised an eyebrow.

"And you're in trouble." He smiled.

Charlie groaned and hung her head "So you heard I guess."

Sirius laughed and shook his head "IT was impossible not to. You're okay aren't you?"

Charlie nodded "I'm fine dad, really don't worry, it was just a party" She smiled.

Sirius watched her and shook his head with a reluctant smiled "You're just like me and I'm not sure if that scares me or not."

"Scares us... definitely scares us." James winked as he came downstairs and put a kissed on Charlie's head "Welcome back sweetheart, I'm glad you're back, Harry's been driving up crazy." He smiled talking of his now ten year old son.

Charlie laughed when Harry groaned from where he had sat down at the table. She walked over and wrapped her arms around his shoulders from behind. "Don't worry Harry you'll be coming with me in September so you won't have to miss me anymore."

Harry rolled his eyes but was secretly pleased that he would now be able to go to Hogwarts with the girl he thought of as his sister.

Lily smiled "Charlie go wash up for dinner, we're ordering in Chinese."

"Yes!" Charlie and Harry both yelled happily and fist bumped as Charlie went upstairs.

"They're all grown up." Lily smiled to herself with tears in her eyes.

James wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her neck "He'll always be out baby boy."

Lily smiled and turned to face him "Don't let him hear you say that ."

James smiled "You are beautiful Mrs. Potter."

Lily blushed and smiled shyly "And you are a charmer Mr. Potter."

James winked and kissed cheek "Always" He said and left to order their food."

Charlie smiled as they sat around the table laughing and joking like they always did, Her Nan and granddad had arrived to see them Frank Alice and Neville had also turned up as well as Remus and Maddie, they'd had to use an extension charm to fit them all around the table.

Charlie was watching all the couples interacting with each other and the loving looks they shared, then looked back to her dad who sat next to her.

"So daddy when are you going to start dating again?" She asked casually, twirling her noodles on her fork.

The table became silent and Sirius looked down at her shocked "What?"

"I asked you when you were gonna get a girlfriend." She smiled and shrugged innocently.

"I... that's not appropriate for us to discuss Charlie." He told her.

James and lily swapped looks to each other watching to see what would happen when two hot heads that shared the same genes clashed.

"You should put yourself out their dad." Charlie told him

"I'm perfectly fine with the way things are." He told her gritting his teeth.

Charlie rolled her eyes "Oh come on, it's not like every girl you date is going to try and kill me like the last one." She said and heard a few gasps around the table.

Sirius' eyes glared into his daughters and then he stood up fast, almost tipping the chair back and left the room.

Charlie sighed and knew she had probably taken it too far, but she really wanted her dad to be happy and didn't want to be the reason he wasn't dating.

She got up and ignored her Aunt lily's suggestion of letting them both cool off and followed in the direction her dad had gone and found him on the balcony.

"I'm sorry dad." She told him

She saw his shoulders droop and heard his sigh as he continued to look out at the view "It's not your fault, I just don't like reliving that memory."

Charlie walked over and stood next to him "I know but I don't want you to have to give up your life because you're worried about me... You've already spent half your life doing that."

"Because it's my job to protect you and you asking me not worry..." He stopped and shook his head, smiling slightly "It's like asking me not to breathe."

Charlie rolled her eyes and laughed, nudging her shoulder against his "I'm serious."

"Nope that's me." He winked.

Charlie laughed and shoved him gently "You did not just bring out the name pun! So lame!"

Sirius tickled her ribs "I am not lame offspring, I am the coolest dad."

Charlie smiled when he finally let her go. "Yeah you are pretty cool... But I'm not joking dad I really do want you to date, find someone to be with while I'm not at home... Oh and I don't just mean a friend with benefits."

Sirius grimaced and immediately covered his ears with his hands "Oh god I don't even want to hear that my baby girl knows about... that!"

Charlie chuckled evilly "I know a lot more!"

Sirius kept his hands over his ears "NO! Stop it!"

Charlie smiled and hugged his waist "I'm gonna go to bed daddy, I'll see you in the morning."

Sirius hugged her tight and kissed her head "night baby." He said and watched her go to her bedroom that she stayed in when she slept at Lily and James'

He smiled as he thought about what she had said. He hadn't officially dated a girl since Kate. Although there had been women, none of them had been made official for more than one night.

He walked to his own room and started undressing for bed, it was early but he was knackered and as he crawled in bed, he was gone the minute his head hit the pillow.

Charlie lay awake staring at the glowing stars on her ceiling. She sighed and reached for the alarm clock on the bedside table and groaned, realising it was only one o clock.

"Shouldn't have gone to bed so early." She told herself.

She got out of bed and slipped out of her shorts and strappy top that she slept in and changed into leggings a top and hoodie.

She made her way quietly down stairs tiptoeing especially past her dad and Uncle James' doors.

She put on her converse and opened the door, letting out a sigh of relief when she stepped out into the fresh air and started to jog to the park that was at the bottom of the road.

She'd gotten used to her midnight runs whenever she couldn't sleep, it made her feel relaxed and calm.

She slowed to a walk when she finally reached the park and sat down on one of the swings, swinging gently, looking up at the sky.

"A bit late to be out on your own isn't it black?" A voice came from behind her.

Charlie startled and jumped off the swing, clutching her wand that was hidden in the sleeve of her jacket.

Mason smirked at her "Can't use magic outside school."

Charlie glared at him "What are you doing here?"

Mason shrugged and leant against the pole of the swing , crossing his arms over his broad chest "Free country, I can be here if I want to."

Charlie rolled her eyes "Well go to the other side of the park and leave me alone."

"Ohh touchy" He grinned.

Charlie growled and pushed him away." "Back off!"

"But you're just so much fun to wide up" He cooed.

"I mean it Bridges move!"

"Nope I quite like it here actually."

"Dude you're messed up in the head, stop following me!" Charlie hissed at him.

"Why the hell would I be following you? Think quite a lot of yourself don't you Black?"

"My uncle saw you idiot, yesterday night when I was walking back to my dorm, apparently he stopped you from following me."

"You were more like stumbling." He grumbled.

"Whatever, stop following me." Charlie growled

"Or what you'll tell daddy?" He teased.

"Don't bring my dad into this!" Charlie said and moved closer glaring up at him since he was a lot taller than her, at least 6'1.

Mason glared down at her. "You should go now black." He told her coldly.

"You have no right to tell me what to do." She almost snarled at him.

"I know a lot more about you then you think! So watch yourself Black." He warned her quietly.

Charlie looked up at him shocked and confused, then watched as he tensed up and walked away then shivered, trying to work out what he meant and hoped what she was thinking wasn't true.

If Mason knew about her gift then she was screwed.

Lily bounced Harry on her knee cooing at him, her heart melting as he giggled again and again.

She lifted him off her knee and laid her little one year old on her chest and cuddled him, rubbing his back gently to try and get him to drift off.

James leant against the door frame watching his wife and son and smiled walking over to them.

He dropped onto the sofa next to them, gently so he didn't startle Harry who was starting to fall asleep., he wrapped his arm around his wife and pulled her close.

Lily was just starting to fall asleep herself, against her husband's shoulder when James' whole body stiffened as though readying himself for battle.

James tensed up when he heard crunching outside the front door and reached for his wand panicked as the door burst off its hinges and opened.

He pulled Lily and Harry up and pushed them towards the stairs, "Go! He's here!" He told them and kissed their heads "I love you both so much." He whispered and ran towards the front door.

"I love you too." Lily sobbed but ran up the stairs holding a now wide awake Harry, who had little tears in his eyes from all the loud noises and sudden movements.

She barricaded the nursery door and rocked her son trying desperately to ignore the awful fighting sounds from downstairs.

"Shh baby, mummy's here." She cried.

She heard downstairs go silent and knew what had happened and couldn't help the anguished cry that tore from her throat.

She screamed when the door exploded open and protected Harry with her body.

"Step aside" The cloaked figure told her.

"No have mercy please!" She pleaded laying Harry in the crib and stood in front of him.

"Move aside and I will spare you." Voldemort said as he moved closer to her.

"No kill me not Harry! Please!" She begged and screamed when he tossed a killing curse her way, hitting the wall behind her which rebounded straight into her back.

Lily screamed and bolted upright in bed, panting harshly as she looked around trying to gain her bearings.

She felt James' arms go around her and whipped her head around to face him, panicked. His lips were moving but she couldn't hear what he was saying and his eyes were scared.

"Lily! Baby, it's okay, everything's okay! It was a nightmare!" he soothed her stroking her hair.

"Harry!" She whimpered.

"Harry is fine sweetheart." He said gently.

Lily shook her head and swung out of bed going into her ten year old son's bedroom and stroked his hair looking at the scar on his head.

She let out a sigh of relief and sat down on the edge of her son's bed kissing his head.

"He's going to Hogwarts in September." Lily bit her lip worried.

" I know baby but Charlie is there and Remus, they're not going to let him get hurt." James told her.

"I'm still confused how we survived." Lily said kissing Harry's head then stood up and walked form the room.

James checked on his son before following his wife "Lil Dumbledore explained it to us already. We didn't die because of the protection of love we have on each other. Plus the spell he cast only rebounded , they didn't directly hit us." James explained rubbing her back gently.

Lily leant into him "I'm so glad... to think Harry could have been left without parents." She shivered.

"He would have still had his uncles and aunts baby, if anything ever happened to us, we know Harry would have and will be well taken care of." He kissed her head, holding her for a few more minutes until she was relaxed and calm again.

"Come on lets go back to bed." He smiled and winked.

Lily rolled her eyes and gently pushed him into their room "To sleep." She told him.

"Nope definitely not." James replied his eyes almost glowing with lust.

Lily squealed and tried to run but James quickly grabbed her chuckling and pulled her close.
