1 year later.

Sirius laid in his bed, hands behind his head, staring up at the ceiling. Today was Christmas day and he smiled excitedly like a child, it was his favourite holiday ever since he'd left his parents' house, and it had become even more fun since the arrival of his daughter.

Charlie was now sixteen, seventeen in a few short months. He smiled sadly thinking about how fast his daughter was growing up, but he was cheered up by the fact that even though she was almost an adult in wizarding terms, she was still a daddy's girl.

Groaning he sat up and got out of bed and went into the bathroom, quickly showering and changing into some clothes before leaving his room, knocking on his daughter's bedroom door.

Charlie answered the door already dressed and smiling brightly which was a once a year Christmas occasion for his daughter, mornings were her worst enemy.

"Merry Christmas daddy." She smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist hugging him hard.

"Merry Christmas baby." He smiled back kissing her head and squeezing her tightly "Since you're ready we can head over to Uncle James' now and wake him up." He winked.

Charlie giggled and nodded as she ran over to the floo "Meet you there." She grinned and clearly called out the location to the Potters house.

Sirius watched the flames engulf his daughter and did one last check around the house, making sure everything was locked before stepping into the floo himself, travelling to his best friends.

As he stepped out he was wasn't surprised to see his childish daughter already dragging a half asleep James into the living room with a laughing Lily and grumbling Harry behind them.

"Oh come on you lot it's Christmas, get into the spirit!" Charlie shouted happily.

"I have Christmas spirit! It's just notably absent at six in the morning." A recently turned twelve Harry moaned.

Charlie stuck her tongue out at him and went and sat by the Christmas tree and began divvying up the presents into piles, depending on who they were for.

Sirius shook his head smiling and went and took a seat next James who was trying to rub the sleep out of his eyes, at the same time taking and thanking his wife for the cup of coffee she gave him.

Sirius nudged his shoulder "You my friend are getting old."

"Oh sod off Padfoot!"

Sirius chuckled and took his own cup of coffee from Lily and watched his baby girl excitedly examining the presents.

"She'll never grow up." James told him finally letting out a smiled.

Sirius chuckled in agreement "Good, because that means no boys on the horizon for another 20 years."

Charlie obviously overhearing her dad's conversation snorted and looked up "Oh dad come on you know I've already had many lovers." She giggled and winked, making her dad growl, even though he knew she was joking.

Charlie smiled as she messed with her dad "I'm thinking of marrying one of the older ones" She laughed.

Sirius glared at her playfully "I will lock you in your room missy. No boys."

"I'm not talking about boy's daddy, I'm talking about experienced men." She grinned and squealed as Sirius stood up coming towards her, throwing her over his shoulder and spinning around.

James watched them with a shake of his head and looked at his own son "I don't think I've ever told you how glad I am that you are not a girl." He said making Harry laugh.

Lily rolled her eyes "Men, they can deal with many things… but give them a daughter and they completely lose any kind of rationality and reverse back to caveman tendencies." She laughed.

Sirius finally let his daughter down "There, no more talk of that subject. Present time." He quickly added when Charlie began to speak, no doubt to tease her dad again.

Charlie immediately abandoned her comment and focused back on the presents like an over eager toddler.

"Okay, this is my pile, dad this is yours, Harry, Aunt Lily and Uncle James." She said pointing out the piles.

One by one they took turns opening up the gifts and hugging their thanks. They were done by half past seven and Lily took the time to begin cooking a breakfast that was surely to be fantastic.

Charlie kissed her dads cheek and thanked him again for the beautiful dream catcher her had given her. Although she hadn't had any psychic dreams for years she still sometimes suffered from bad nightmares and repeated psychic episodes of things she had already seen.

"I'm going to take my gifts back to my room, I'll be back in a bit." She smiled quickly hugging her dad before going back to the floo holding a bag of presents.

She arrived back at their home and quickly ran upstairs, her eager grumbling stomach telling her to move faster so she could get some of Lily's breakfast.

Charlie put the gifts away in her room and put the beautiful anklet that her Aunt Lily and Uncle James had gotten her, on. It was beautiful, a silver chain with little bells all the way around that made little jingling noises when they moved.

She raced back downstairs towards the floo, but just as she was about to grab the floo powder she saw an owl flying towards the window. She quickly opened it so the owl would not crashed and watched as it dropped a rectangular parcel with a label on the coffee table before immediately flying back out of the window, obliviously not having been instructed to wait for a reply.

Charlie watched the bird fly away before closing the window and picking up the present. She turned over the label surprised to see her own name written in messy handwriting. Curiously she unwrapped the gift and bit her lip when she saw the velvet rectangle box.

Carefully she pried open the little hinges on the box and let out a tiny gasp when she saw the beautiful necklace that lay inside.

The necklace was silver and a Celtic design of complicated twists and turns and set in the middle was a beautiful emerald that she couldn't help but stare at. She held the necklace close to her chest and immediately began looking on the wrapping paper and label to identify who it was from, but there was nothing to be found.

Charlie sat down on the couch finally giving up looking and looked down at the beautiful piece of jewellery that she couldn't help but think had a deeper meaning than just its beauty. A little shakily she brought it up to her neck and clasped it shut, leaving her hand resting on the design at the front, looking at the reflection of it in the mirror across the room.

Charlie frantically tucked it into the drop of her top as she heard the floo go and blushed a little when she saw her dad walk in.

"Are you okay? Breakfast is ready and you were taking longer than I thought you would?" Sirius asked questioningly.

"Yeah all good." She answered a little too quickly.

Sirius raised an eyebrow and then saw the paper on the couch "You had another present?" He asked lifting it up "What was it?" he asked curiously.

"Oh just a book, from one of my friends." She smiled trying to look convincing, She could tell her dad didn't buy it but she wasn't going to tell him about the necklace, she knew it would freak him out that an admirer or worse a stranger was sending her gifts.

But Sirius shrugged it off and smiled "Come on let's get you fed, Lily's gone all out."

Charlie smiled and nodded quickly but subtly hiding the jewellery box behind a cupboard, before going back through the floo, holding onto her dad like she used to when she was a child.

Something was wrong.

He could feel it.

He needed to move.

And quickly.

Charlie sighed happily but tiredly as she leant against the balcony breathing in the cold air. The day had been amazing as always. Everyone had come to Lily and James', Frank, Alice and Neville, Maddie and Remus and her adoptive grandparents.

She smiled as she thought about all the new nice clothes and jewellery she had got from all of them as well as her three boys Luke, Liam and Ryan who had briefly popped in to say hello and Merry Christmas.

She smiled as she looked up and saw a shooting star wiz across the sky she closed her eyes and began to make a wish before her head screamed out in pain as the clock began to chime nine o clock.

Her eyes widened as images flashed before her mind. Her head in so much blinding pain that she couldn't even scream out for help, as she saw three cloaked figures come out of the shadows and right for her.

She couldn't even fight back when they grabbed her and pressed a sweet smelling cloth to her nose and then eventually stunning her as she succumbed to the darkness.

Sirius frowned as looked around all the rooms trying to find his daughter so they could make their way home as it was past midnight and the day had seemed longer from their early start.

"Charlie!?" He called again as he quickly poked his head through the floo to check if she'd already come home.

Starting to worry he went back to the living room of the Potter house "Does anyone know where Charlie went?" he asked and paled when he was met with blank unsure faces.

"Shit" He cursed and began looking through the house again and calling her name, joined now by the rest of his friends and family.

"Sirius!" Lily called out urgently, her turn making Sirius run to her.

He came out onto the balcony, along with everyone else, and frowned when he saw Lily crouched down "What?!" He asked and panicked when he saw Lily's terrified face.

Sirius followed her gaze to the floor where he saw the bracelet that Charlie had been given by her grandparents surrounded by droplets of blood.

He staggered slightly and had to hold onto the door frame to stay upright "No!" He said in refusal and looked out over the balcony and shouted out into the night;

"CHARLIE!"

Charlie let out a painful groan as she opened her eyes and peered blearily up at a dark ceiling. She tried to move her aching body as little as possible so not to jolt her head which was pounding.

She tried to lift her arm to rub her head but found them both strapped to a table along with her legs and waist. Her eyes began to widen as she looked around the room that pretty much resembled a medieval torture room.

Her breathing quickened as she began to panic "Dad?" She whispered in the darkness and whimpered when there was no reply.

She put all of the pieces together in her mind, her sixteenth year of age, Christmas day, the clock striking nine at the exact time of a shooting star. Her prophecy had finally come true, and all that was left to do was to see what would happen.

Charlie's head painfully turned to the side when she heard the door creak open and her eyes widened at the woman in the doorway.

"Kate?"

Kate looked as beautiful as ever, a perk of the veela charm that had trapped her father all those years ago. But the smile she wore on her face and the glint in her eyes were not beautiful as they showed her true evil side.

"Little Charlie all grown up." She smiled wickedly.

"Evil bitch getting old" Charlie said using her snarky personality to calm herself.

Kate glared at her, veela's were sensitive to their looks and very vain so insulting her was probably not Charlie's smartest idea, even if it did make her feel better.

"I will be grateful when you are dead and no longer a concern of mine. And the Dark Lord once he has risen again will have your power and use you to kill Harry Potter once and for all." Kate explained nastily.

"I'm pretty sure the villain isn't meant to explain their evil plan, because when I'm rescued I will expose you and it's all balls to the wall for you after that." Charlie smirked even though it pained her head.

"You'll be dead long before anyone finds out your missing, let alone rescue you." Kate growled and pulled out her wand "But just so you can't find any sly way to get yourself out, let me weaken you a little." She giggled.

"Crucio!" Kate shouted pointing her wand at Charlie's body.

Charlie convulsed on the table and screamed out, finally feeling the pain in real life that she had felt in her dream all those years ago in her first psychic nightmare, as well as the feeling of heat against her chest.

She was in pain.

He could feel it. And it pained him too.

But he was almost there.

Charlie was dripping with sweat and blood from the numerous cutting spells Kate had put on her body and she was crying out for her daddy, not caring if it made her look weak, she was in too much pain.

Kate was also covered in Charlie's blood and it made her look almost insane as she laughed and grinned while torturing her.

Finally after what seemed like hours Katie laid down her wand and drew a knife from her side,

"I cannot tell you how much I am going to enjoy driving this through your heart and absorbing your power." Kate grinned evilly as she placed the tip of the knife over Charlie's chest pressing down slightly so a swell of blood slipped out.

Charlie closed her eyes and thought about her daddy and her family and friends, about what she wanted to say, to tell them how much she loved them and to hug her daddy one last time.

She felt the knife tip leave her chest and knew in a few seconds it would come back down and kill her.

However a series of bangs outside the door elongated those seconds and ultimately made Kate jump enough to drop the knife.

The door crashed open in a flash of light, and Charlie saw, through blurred vision a tall figure dressed in dark clothing start to engage in a duel with Kate.

Realising this interruption was a far better dueller than her, Kate quickly grabbed the knife and apparated out of the room using dark magic and got as far away as possible. While she was loyal to the dark lord, she was a coward and would always save herself.

Charlie's eyes were rolling around her head as she tried to stay awake. She felt the restraints around her loosen and be pulled away and then strong arms were gently lifting her up from the table, cradling her against a strong muscled chest.

Weakly she lifted her head and started into the eyes of Mason Bridges, her last image before she passed out.

Sirius was about to lose it. They had searched all around the surrounding areas and there was no sign of anymore blood, suggesting that Charlie had been apparated away.

They had called in Sirius and James' fellow aurors who were currently handing out locations for people to apparate to and check and Sirius was just about to receive his when several gasps tore through the air.

"GET LILY!" Remus shouted and then James was beside him holding his arm as he shoved through the crowd his eyes widening and breathing quickened when he saw his daughter bloody and out cold in the arms of her enemy.

"My baby." He said in a strangled whisper and then his face darkened in anger,

He shouted something that didn't even sound English and started to rush forward before he was held back by James, Frank and Remus.

"YOU BASTARD!" He screamed and Mason.

Mason scowled "I will explain everything but right now she needs medical attention.

Lilly quickly ushered him into a room and he set her on the bed, trailing his fingers down her arm staying slightly longer than what would have been deemed normal, before he made his way back to Sirius.

"I saved her, I didn't take her and if you attack me you won't find out who did. I swear you can trust me. I'm her guardian."

Sirius was sitting in the living room with James, Remus, Frank, his dad and Moody all staring at the 18 year old in front of them.

Mason was tall around the 6' 4 mark, the same as Sirius, and both were equally muscled and sizing each other up.

"Tell me what happened now, before I lose my patience." Sirius got out between gritted teeth. He was angry that his daughter had been taken and hurt and now he was not allowed to stay with her while Lily and other healers worked on her.

"All psychics have a guardian. My father was Charlie's until he died when I was thirteen, guardianship is hereditary so it passed to me. This was the time Charlie started Hogwarts. Guardians are supposed to show no feelings towards their wards, so I figured making her hate me would be the best way to ensure this was never a problem. She was right that she saw me following her when she walked around the castle and that time where she had a nightmare and went to Professor Dumbledore… My job is to protect her from those who wish to find out about and steal her gift. I would die for her if necessary." Mason explained and lifted up his sleeve.

On his bicep was a tribal looking tattoo "I sent Charlie a necklace earlier today with this design on it, it connects us. When she is in trouble the emerald in the middle heats up and the mark on my arm will as well notifying me that she needs help."

Sirius watched the teenager bewildered "She is mine. Mine to protect and look after."

Mason looked back at his wards father "I would never take her away from you. I'm on the side lines I'll keep people away from her."

Sirius was at a loss with what to say but before he could do anything, Lily poked her head in "She's awake."

Sirius jumped up and glared when Mason did as well, but ignored it, the need to be with his little girl stronger than beating this boy to a pulp.

He left the room annoyingly aware that Mason was following him. He entered the room where Charlie lay weakly and dropped to his knees beside the bed holding his baby girls' hand "I love you. I'm so sorry sweetheart." He whispered brokenly.

"I'm okay daddy. I love you so much" She said squeezing his hand.

Sirius felt a tear go down his cheek and he sat down on the bed next to her gently pulling her as close as possible without putting her in pain and he felt his heart break when his strong daughter cried against his chest.

It took Charlie an hour or so to calm down enough time for Mason, who had patiently stood outside the room, to come in and sit on the chair next to her.

He took his time explaining what had happened and why he had come after her, telling her exactly what he had told her dad.

Charlie sniffled as she took in all the information "It was the prophecy." She told them both quietly.

Sirius looked down at her "What baby?" He asked gently.

"I'm 16 years old, I saw a shooting star as the clock chimed nine on Christmas day. Kate used the cruciatous curse on me, like she did in my dream when I was little, I just didn't know what or who it was back then.

Sirius tightened his jaw and the torture of his daughter and noted with part irretance and part admiration that Masons' did the same.

"I will never let her hurt you again." He whispered in his ear and then closed his eyes in resignation, looking up at Mason he amended his statement "We, will never let her hurt you again.

It was a big step but Sirius had come to realise while holding his precious daughter in his arms, that it was time to let someone else protect her as well.

He loved his daughter more than words could say and losing her was not an option, no matter what they faced in the future.
