Hello, everyone! Been way to long since I updated last! As I'm typing this Author's Note, I am a little shaken up. My neighbor's dog got into a fight with another dog. I think they both came out alright, but I'm a little shaken up after hearing those fierce growls...I don't know how soon I'll fall asleep tonight. :/ Thank you to everyone who supports this story! While Tessa and Butchy were talking, Speed was watching them from the Adders' new hideout, which was less than a mile away from the house. Speed had a pair of binoculars and was spying on the two. Just as Jennifer walked in the room.
"You wanted to see me, sir?" She asked.
"Yes, Jen, I did. What happened? You were supposed to WIN!" Speed said angrily, slamming the binoculars down on a table.
"I don't know! I did everything perfectly! He SHOULD have picked me! My parents were both singers, and I've grown up singing! And the reason I'm always singing that song is because I'm practicing! I don't know WHY he didn't choose me! I'm obviously the better girl!"
"Jen, we's gotta come up with a different plan."
"Well, I always had boys drooling over me back in high school. Maybe we could figure out someway to use that to our advantage."
"Jen! That's brilliant! Here's what we'll do. You's gonna figure out if any of the other guys are single. If they are, you's gonna draw them in and try to get information from him."
"Got it! I've got a couple ideas of what to do." Jennifer said, smiling.
"Good." Speed said, grinning evilly.
The next morning, Butchy woke up around 5:00, and was unable to go back to sleep. Butchy got up and went downstairs, not expecting what he saw. Tessa was asleep at the table, a map on the table, under her head.
"Tessa. Tessa, wake up." Butchy whispered gently.
"Huh?"
"You fell asleep. Doing what, I do not know."
"Oh. I was just trying to figure out where the Adders might be hiding now that the lighthouse has been blown to bits!"
"Well, why don't we figure it out later. Go get some sleep. We have to be at Big Momma's by 9."
"Alright. Night. Er...you know what I mean!" Tessa exclaimed.
As Tessa silently ran up the stairs, Butchy chuckled, remembering all the reasons he loved her. He walked into the kitchen and looked out the window. As he looked out the window, he saw the lights of a motorcycle coming down the road. As it got closer, Butchy recognized the form of his best friend. Butchy walked out onto the front porch.
"Hey." Lugnut said, walking up the steps.
"Couldn't sleep?" Butchy asked.
"Yeah. This whole thing with Speed has just been keeping me awake most nights."
"Same here. I's just hope nothing goes wrong." Butchy commented.
While the two were talking, Mack, Lela, and Tessa were watching out Lela's bedroom window.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Mack asked.
"I don't know. But I think it has something to do with the Adders." Lela said.
"I's got to agree with you there." Tessa replied.
"Did he say anything to you, Tessa?" Mack quired.
"No. He just told me that I should get some sleep. That's it."
"Maybe we should get some more sleep." Lela admitted.
"Oh, alright! Come on." Tessa grumbled, acting like a little kid.
Just as the three girls fell asleep, Lugnut left and Butchy came back inside.
