Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you're all doing well! I apologize for for updating so late in the day. I was doing homework till 4:30 and then I spent the rest of the time trying to find the file! I finally found it, but I saved it to the wrong file by accident! :-/ Anywho, let's get to the answer from last chapter. :) Everyone who answered got it right, and to make it easier, I'm just going to say thank you to all who reviewed! The answer to last chapter's question was "1962". Now, onto the Chapter!-Alyssa
That night, Speed was, once again, standing at the window of their hideout. Only this time, he wasn't watching Butchy and Tessa. But was watching Tessa run back and forth in Lela's room, trying to get ready for her date with Butchy.
"Speed?"
"Jen, hello! I didn't expect to see you here yet."
"Well, I wanted to find out what time we're heading to the beach at."
"We'll head out soon. Just as soon as they all get to the beach."
"Speed, why do we stay hidden? Why don't we just go out there and live among them?"
"You want to know why? I'll tell you why."
Suddenly, music started.
Speed: I'm the outside, lookin' in
But I like it this way
Here on the outside, lookin' in
I see the games that they play.
I'm on the outside, lookin' in
But I don't really care
Here on the outside, lookin' in,
'Long as I get my share
You know that I'll take my share...
When it's late at night
they blow out the light
And although they might be sleepin'
If they hear a sound
I may be around
And they know I could be creepin', creepin', creepin
They must be aware
If they think I'm there,
It's a very scary feelin'!
Lyin' in their beds,
Running through their heads
Is one thought - what is he stealin'?
I'm the outside, lookin' in
But I like it this way
Here on the outside, lookin' in
I see the games that they play.
I'm on the outside, lookin' in
But I don't really care
Here on the outside, lookin' in,
'Long as I get my share
You know that I'll take my share...
I can hear them tell
I'm a hound of hell
As they get the smell of danger
As I'm coming here
I can taste their fear
Of the dark and deadly stranger.
They know who I am
I don't give a damn
I could lead ev'ry lamb to the slaughter
So be on your guard
for my calling card
And be sure - to lock up your daughters
They keep us outside lookin' in
My girlfriend and me
Jennifer: And if we're outside lookin' in
Both: That's the way it will be.
We're on the outside lookin' in
But we don't really care
Here on the outside lookin in
Long as we get our share
You know that we'll take our share.
Speed: We're on the outside lookin' in
Jennifer: We're on the outside lookin' in
Both: We're on the outside lookin' in!
As Speed sang, he walked through the hideout and walked outside, with Jennifer in tow.
"That, my dear Jen, is why we stay outside." Speed said, pushing Jennifer's hair out of her face.
"Speed, we agreed not to let any of the Adders know about us." Jennifer said, backing away slightly.
"Jen, I know we did, but I can't hide my feelings for you any longer!"
"Soon, Speed. Soon." Jen said, walking back toward the hideout.
As Speed watched her walk away, he looked toward his brother's house. Butchy and Tessa were walking out onto the porch, hand in hand. Speed dove behind some shrubs, and felt a twinge of jealousy pulse through him. Both longing after Tessa, and wishing that he could have such an open relationship with Jennifer. As the two walked down the road, Speed bolted for the safety of the hideout.
I hope you enjoyed the chapter! The song was "Outside Looking In" by Celtic Thunder. I did make a lyric edit or two in order to make it fit the situation. :) I'm having trouble thinking of what other questions to ask, so, unless I think of something, I probably (and unfortunately) won't have a question. :( Anyway, I'll be updating again on Monday! "See" you all then! :)-Alyssa
