I just realized I didn't give my opinion on End of Take! It was an episode I didn't like too much when I was younger, but as I've gotten older, I realized that it's actually pretty good.
Satellite... it could be worse. It isn't one I typically go back and watch, but it isn't by any means bad.
The NEXT episode, however... Oh I REALLY don't wanna watch that one, much less write it.
Chapter 12: Satellite
It was another typical day. Ulrich, Odd, Jeremy, and I were all in science, and Ms. Hertz was of course doing her job.
"Now then, if you provoke a collision between two neutrons, what do you obtain?" She asked. "Ok, who would like to answer? Anybody." After thinking about it, I raised my hand, along with Herb in the back. "Yes, Herb?" However, at that moment, everyone's phone went off. For some reason, everyone thought it was a fantastic idea to answer them all at once. I pulled mine out and declined the call. Odd and Ulrich gave a worries glance at one another.
Ms. Hertz was not happy, to say the least. "Sissi! You was the principals daughter should know the rules about cellphones! Now, why don't you remind us all what that rule is?" She said with a stern tone.
"All mobile phones have got to be turned off before entering the classroom, under penalty of having them confiscated." Sissi deadpanned.
"Hand it over!" Ms. Hertz demanded. Sissi had no choice but to comply. "And that goes for everyone!" The four of us looked at one another in shock. Without our cellphones, we had no way to contact each other! "Quiet down!" Ms. Hertz shouted, quieting the commotion. "Put all your cellphones on my desk right now." Once again, no one had any choice, so we were forced to comply. The bell rang, and we begrudgingly left.
"XANA's sure gonna be happy about this." Odd muttered. We entered the hall way, and found Yumi running up to us in a panic.
"We had this weird problem. This morning everyones cellphone started ringing-"
"And the teacher confiscated them." Odd finished for her. "Us too."
"Pretty crazy, huh? All those calls and no one at the other end. I think I'll contact Aelita." Jeremy decided. "This could be XANA's doing." Ulrich put a hand to his chin in thought.
"We've gotta do something. If Jeremy's right and XANA is behind this, we're in a real jam." He stated.
"That's the understatement of the year." I agreed.
"Hey, you four!" Sissi called, catching our attention. "I'm organizing a meeting. They've got to give us our mobiles back! Are you with us?"
"You bet we are!" Yumi said, completely surprising Sissi.
"Huh, no kidding. If you really mean it, I'll see you in the auditorium right after lunch!" Sissi said, then walked off.
Lunch
Yumi, Ulrich, Odd, and myself were all sitting at a table together. However, Ulrich and Odd had a crazy idea.
"You're gonna take back your cellphone!? That's called stealing, you know that!?" Yumi whispered harshly.
"No it's not! Taking back what already belongs to you in the first place isn't what I'd call stealing." Odd insisted.
"You two have completely lost it." I decided.
"The students were warned! I'm not going to return their phones that quickly." Mr. Delmas said at a table nearby. "We need to deactivate the schools antenna. That way , even if they get new phones, they won't be able to use them. Can you handle that, Jim?" Jim nodded at the principals request.
"We don't have a choice, girls." Ulrich said. Odd looked over at the teachers, then decided it was time to head out
"Speaking of activation, Jeremy, did anything come up on the scan?" I asked, turning to face him.
"No, but I'm about to go and check." He said, standing up.
"I think we'll join you." Yumi said, and we followed him up to his dorm.
We watched the scan move from tower to tower.
"You really might want to consider updating this tower scanning thing." I suggested. He let out a hum of acknowledgement. Then, Odd and Ulrich popped in, smiling.
"Mission accomplished!" Odd informed us, and put all of our phones on Jeremy's bed. I smiled and went over to pick up my phone, along with Jeremys.
"Let's just hope that nobody finds out." Yumi commented.
"I'd rather hope that they worried over nothing." Odd replied. I handed Jeremy his mobile, which he thanked me for.
"For now, the scan hasn't found an activated tower." He informed us.
"I haven't seen anything either, maybe it's a false alarm." Aelita suggested. Jeremy then looked at his phone and gasped. On the screen of all of our phones, was the emblem of XANA. "XANA!" He then though back to what Delmas said earlier, and grabbed something. Not knowing what he was doing, we followed him to the science building.
"Why would XANA be interested in mobile phones?" Ulrich asked.
"That's what I'm hoping to find out by checking the schools antenna." Jeremy explained.
"I'm off to the meeting I promised Sissi." Yumi said, then took off for the auditorium. We entered the building, went up to the roof, and closed the door. Unfortunately for us, Jim was already there.
"Hey! Who let you up here?!" He asked us. "Trying to stop me from disconnecting the antenna, are you?"
"Who, us?" Ulrich asked innocently.
"We were just passing by." I said. Then, Jim was electrocuted by the cable he was holding.
"Careful!" Jeremy exclaimed. Jims grip on the antenna let out, and he would've fallen to the ground if we hadn't reacted it time. Ulrich and Odd each took an arm to carry Jim.
"We'll take him to the infirmary." Ulrich said, then began dragging him away.
"Ok, Emily and I will try to figure out what XANA's done to the antenna." Jeremy replied, then handed be a cable to plug into something. When I did what he asked, he looked down at the screen. "The main television antenna?"
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked.
"I'm not quite sure yet, but whatever it is, it isn't good." Jeremy unplugged the device, and ran ahead of me downstairs. I followed, and we went over to the window, and waved at Yumi as a signal. She thankfully noticed, and ran out to meet us.
"What's up?" She asked.
"When Jeremy explains, I'll tell you."
We made our way to Jeremys room, Ulrich and Odd meeting us there after dropping off Jim. He then pulled something up in his computer, and began his explanation.
"You see these waves? XANA's using the school antenna in order to try and plug into the main television dish."
"So, that's why all the phones rang?" I asked.
"Right. It jams their frequency. If XANA manages to take control of the dish, he'll have direct access to the satellites that are orbiting Earth." Jeremy continued.
"And?" Yumi reluctantly asked.
"And he'll be to guide a military satellite."
"Ok, but for what reason?"
"I wish I knew." Jeremy admitted. "In peace time, these satellites were used for spying, but of XANA reprograms one, who knows?"
"Anything could happen." Ulrich realized. "Jeremy's right, this is serious."
"You'd better believe it Ulrich." Jeremy agreed. "The scan's detected a tower!" Aelita then appeared on the screen.
"Jeremy! XANA has activated a tower in the Polar Region!"
"Ok, we're on our way!"
"Better hurry!" She disappeared from the screen.
"Let's go through the tunnel in the park." We all nodded, and went out the door. Odd looked back at Kiwi, who had been there the whole time.
"Kiwi, you stay here." We went outside of the dorm building, and saw Sissi and her protesters in front of the cafeteria. Looking over at them, Yumi said,
"I'll stay here in case XANA has plans to attack the school." We nodded, and ran off as Sissi approached.
Ulrich opened up to cover, allowing us to enter. Just as Odd was about to enter, Kiwi sat in front of him.
"Kiwi? What are you doing here?" Odd asked, astonished that his dog followed him.
"Incredible. For a dog, he's as stubborn as a mule." Jeremy commented.
"Well, now that you're here, c'mon." Kiwi jumped into Odds arms, and I followed, closing the tunnel once more. You all know the drill by now: we rode down to the factory, swung down, and went into the elevator, the only difference being Kiwi was with us. The elevator stopped at the lab, which Jeremy and Kiwi entered. We went down one more level, then exited at the scanners.
"Aelita's on her way to the Ice Sector." Jeremy informed us. We each stepped into a scanner, and prepared for transfer. "Transfer, Ulrich. Transfer, Odd. Transfer, Emily. Scanner, Ulrich. Scanner, Odd. Scanner, Emily. VIRTUALIZATION!"
Lyoko
We of course, found ourselves in the Ice Sector. We all looked around in search of our pink friend. She caught our attention soon enough from behind a rock.
"Ulrich! Odd! Emily!" She exclaimed, waving at us. We ran over to her.
"Good news! XANA's still not in control of the TV dish! That gives us a little time!" Jeremy exclaimed. "I'll try to find out which satellite XANA might want to get his hands on, but it won't be easy."
"Do what you can, Einstein. The longer we have, the less danger everyone is in." I told him. As we ran forward on the icy path, Odd was growing impatient.
"Where can that tower be?" He asked.
"One thing at a time, Odd." Jeremy responded. "First of all, I figured it out; I know what XANA's after. He wants to gain access to highly accurate and a highly destructive satellite." He informed us. "If he does, he can destroy whatever he wants." We all shuttered at this terrifying knowledge.
"The factory is safe! XANA wouldn't fire at himself! Odd realized.
"Right, that means we have time to take care of business here." I said, trying my best to speed up.
"Sounds good!" Ulrich said, but then gasped in realization at an all too likely possibility. "But if XANA decides to destroy the school..." He trailed off.
"Remember, Yumi's there, so that's exactly what he's going to do! We have to earn her!" Jeremy decided.
"But, her phone wasn't in Ms. Hertz' locker! She doesn't have her phone!" I pointed out. Jeremy remained silent for a minute.
"I've got an idea. It's a good thing Kiwi is here." We then reached the end of the path.. Only to find our way blocked by Hornets.
"According to the holomap, the tower should be just across the bridge, but be careful. It's probably being guarded by the uh,"
"By the Hornets, thanks. We noticed." Ulrich sarcastically retorted.
"Remember: the poison they're carrying will kill your life points!" We each readied our weapon, preparing for their barrage of lasers. But instead, they just flew there. Odd narrowed his eyes.
"What're they waiting for?"
"They just want to hold us; give XANA the time he needs to win this game." I figured. "We have to go for it!"
"Laser Arrow!" Odd fired a single arrow at the Hornet in the front, but he missed due to it dodging. Ulrich looked over to see Aelita attempting to sneak by the Hornets.
"No Aelita! Watch out!" Shr stopped just in time to avoid the green poison.
"Aelita, don't take any chances. Leave it Emily, Ulrich, and Odd." Jeremy said. Aelita ran back over to us, sending a grateful look at Ulrich. However, the hornets had covered the area in poison, making it impossible for Ulrich to attack, and Odd and I were only going to waste time firing due to their dodging. Jeremy let out a sigh. " we don't have a choice. One of you has to make the sacrifice."
"Ok, I'll attack their attention so you three can move on. Here I go!" Odd didn't give us any time to react, as he took off quicker than we could even consider it.
"Odd, wait!" We exclaimed. He fired another arrow, capturing their attention. Ulrich shook his head.
"He's nuts." He said, which I agreed with. He grabbed Aelitas hand. "C'mon, let's go." We took off for the bridge, watching as Odd was hit.
"Oh no! XANA's taken control of the satellite!" Jeremy shouted. "We were right! The school in the satellites line of fire!" We approached a the hill where the tower was supposed to be, bit there was one problem: it wasn't there.
"What's going on!? I thought the tower was supposed be here!" Ulrich exclaimed. We heard Odd near us, and saw him get hit again, leaving him with 10 Life Points.
"Ulrich, Emily, it's game over for me..." He said.
"Oh no, Ulrich! Emily! Aelita! The Hornets are after you!" Ulrich and I each drew our weapons. "The holomap doesn't lie! It's gotta be there somewhere!" Ulrich attempted to slice a Hornet, but Melee combat is not the best choice for a flying opponent. We jumped off the cliff and onto the platform below. Ulrich began deflecting the shots as we ran.
"Triplicate! Aelita, go find the tower! Emily and I will handle this!" She nodded and took off, searching desperately for the activated tower. One of the hornets got one of Ulrich's clones, but he managed to kill it himself.
"Thunder Bolt!" I fired a bolt of lightning at one, and managed to kill it as well. Ulrich's other clone was killed as well, and I took several hits to my chest and arm.
"Emily, one more hit and you're out." Jeremy warned me.
"Aelita! Have you found it yet? We're running out of time!" Ulrich asked.
"I'm doing my best, but nothing yet! It's well hidden." Ulrich lost his balance after being hit a laser, and while he managed to kill a Hornet, he fell to the ground. Knowing that I wasn't gonna last, I jumped up at the last Hornet, and killed it with my staff as it fired a laser.
In the real world, I fell out of the scanner with a thud. I pulled myself up and climbed up the ladder.
"Ulrich! Aelita! Answer me!" Jeremy shouted into his earpiece.
"I hear you Jeremy, but Ulrich's out cold, and I still haven't found the tower!" She shook Ulrichs shoulder. "Ulrich, are you ok?"
"Yes, Aelita." He replied, albeit a tad weakly. "Have you found the tower yet?" Aelita was about to respond, but then she saw a faint red glow in the reflection of the waterfall nearby.
"Yes, I think I have!"
"Ok, go!" Aelita ran past Ulrich as fast as she could. She grinned when she saw that it was there.
"Jeremy! I've found it!" She hopped across the ice chunks leading to it, and entered. She rosr up to the second floor c and entered the code.
"Return to the past, now!" Jeremy exclaimed. We then were covered in the familiar white light.
Outside Cafeteria
Odd, Ulrich, Yumi, and myself were putting up posters after class. Just to make sure people remembered. Right as I helped tape one up, the Brat Brigade walked out. Noticing the poster, she asked,
"Invitations to a party?" Odd and I shook our heads.
"Not really." He answered, then hopped down from the stairs.
"What's this? 'Official school policy reminder to all students: All mobile phones not turned off before entering the will be immediately confiscated.' What!?" She sent us all a look of disbelief. "That's incredible! Talk about teachers pets!" She put her head up in the air and began to walk off with her cronies. "Anyway, I'd like to see someone try and take my mobile!" We looked at one another and burst out laughing.
"She's obviously never exprienced an alternate time line!" I laughed at my own comment.
So, there's Satellite. I didn't include the real world bits simply because it was mostly the same thing.
Next time... Oh god WHY!?
