It did not take Robin long to loosely convince himself that it was just as Raven had said, that she was struggling with residual emotions from Andrews episode. It was just believable enough that he could force himself to focus on his work.

And things were about to get interesting. He had finally gotten access to a list of Greenly admissions in the past year. There were over twenty thousand applicants that year alone, however when Robin had been pretending to write papers and study for exams, he had actually been compiling a list of every known or possible Brother Blood or H.I.V.E associate ever encountered by his own team, Titans East, or the Justice League. It listed the associate as well as their closest affiliates, such as family members or coworkers. For subjects known only by an alias (their true identities not yet known,) Robin had run their photos (if he could find any,) through facial recognition software. These usually came up with several possible names, which were added to the possible villain list. After all of this, the list was nearly as large as the enrollment list, but when he cross-referenced the two he was left with just below a thousand names.

Then he had eliminated some of these names using a program of his own design, which deleted entries based on a likelihood algorithm. Children under the age of ten, entries with debilitating mental disabilities, etc. were removed from the list, narrowing it down to seven hundred. He had hesitated when the program asked if he would like to delete his original list, and decided to save it. There was always the chance that he would have to start over.

The seven hundred names left a lot of work to be done. He struggled with ways to eliminate more, not wanting to or having the time to research all seven hundred on his own. Eventually he decided first to try cross referencing the known H.I.V.E. Academy recruits within the past year, rationalizing that the academy would want to send in new students both to avoid detection by recognition and to give them some undercover experience. He pressed Enter, not expecting any results.

Two names appeared on both lists. Robin was surprised, but quickly noted that , according to another program he had designed, the names- Jessica Smith and Sam Wilson- were extremely common and eliminated them based on their student ID photos. It had been a long shot, anyway. The H.I.V.E. was probably smart enough not to register their spies under names anywhere related to their real ones.

His list was beginning to feel useless, so Robin put it aside and changed tactics. He returned to the list of recent known H.I.V.E. recruits. In the past two years, thirty-two had been accepted. Robin looked over his many lists and confirmed that, of them all, this was the one that was most likely to contain the name of the spies. The others had involved too much guesswork.

Rubbing his eyes, he forced himself to acknowledge that even this list involved guesswork. According to the most recent intelligence, the H.I.V.E. Academy accepted forty students a year, with about fifteen applications being turned away. This left eight new recruits unaccounted for. The academy also expelled (or "terminated") about twenty students per year, for reasons ranging from "too sympathetic" to "not powerful enough" to "cannot be controlled." Nor did they intervene when student's powers consumed them. This meant that as much as fifty percent of the names Robin had could no longer be enrolled at the H.I.V.E.

Much of his research had turned up similar ambiguous results. It had been frustrating, especially without his usual research companion.

And once again, he found himself thinking about Raven.

More out of desperation to stop analyzing his emotional situation than out of his work ethic, he ran facial recognition on each of the new recruits on his list and compared the resulting names.

There were eight possible matches between the new recruits and student ID photos on campus. He perused through them, committing their faces to memory almost absent-mindedly. Then he returned to the list of new recruits and organized them by their powers- there were several super strength recruits, (Mammoth had been a favorite of Brother Bloods, and he had been searching for a successor since Mammoths graduation,) but also mind readers, telekinetics, aliens, and a student who was showing signs of being able to control the weather.

Robin shuddered, praying that that particular recruit had been on the expulsion list. At that moment, Andrew returned from class, looking excited.

"Hey man," Robin said, without looking up. "There's some coffee in the pot still."

"So this guy in my class," Andrew said, crossing the room to their coffee pot, (strictly prohibited by the dorm but much needed by them both,) pouring himself a cup. "He thinks he's been affected too. He wants to meet with you guys."

"Really?" Robin was surprised- they'd been there for weeks, and this was their second case in three days. "How does he know about me?"

"I told him," Andrew looked worried. "Was that a bad idea?"

"I wish you hadn't" Robin sighed. "I know you were just trying to help, but it's best for you to just lay low now that we've found you. There are dangerous people here, looking for people like you. It's not safe to be talking about your powers yet."

"I didn't mean to," Andrew admitted. "He saw us as Pizzarios the other day, when Cyborg wasn't- you know, pretending to be human, and asked me if the Titans were helping me."

"Don't worry about it," Robin said, running a hand through his hair. "Did he say whats going on with him?"

"Just that all this weird stuff started happening to him and he's totally freaking out."

"Sounds like we need to talk," Robin decided, standing. "I'll get the team together, can we meet you guys after your class tonight? Same place?"

Andrews classmate was confused. "Aren't there supposed to be five of you?"

"Raven is with another student," Robin said, his jaw twitching in annoyance. "I'm Robin, this is Cyborg, Star, and Beast Boy"

"I'm David," David said, shaking Robins hand and returning Starfires wave. "There are more? Besides me and Andrew?"

"We think there could be hundreds of affected people," Cyborg cut in. "Were gonna have to pick a new meeting place for the rest, I'm getting tired of this joke they call pizza down here."

"We need to know what we're dealing with here- what are your symptoms?" Robin felt a pang of guilt for hurrying the meeting along, knowing that this was the purpose of the entire mission but unable to shake his agitation.

They had talked about this when they had last updated their communicators- no more excuses for not answering. And it made him furious that Raven was clearly avoiding him for a reason she hadn't bothered to explain. She had never once pulled her punches when she was angry with him before. Whatever was going on, whatever he had done, it was completely un-Raven to keep it to herself.

"See that guy over there?" They were sitting on a patio on the second floor, and David was pointing to a man in a fedora, on the opposite corner of the street below, speaking on a cell phone.

"Yeah," Cyborg said slowly, tensing. "What are you going to do?"

"Relax," David said, grinning. "He's telling his wife that he can't meet for lunch, that he's stuck in his office grading papers." He laughed. "What a loser."

"Sweet dude," Beast Boy said, watching the man on the street. "What about that chick over there?"

Robin raised an eyebrow. He too could point to a guy in the distance and make up a conversation no one else could hear. He caught Cyborgs eye and knew he had had the same thought.

"Look, not that we don't want to believe you," Robin said, "But we need to know you're not faking it."

"Why would I make this up?" David asked, confused.

"We're undercover," Cyborg shrugged. "If you aren't who you say you are, then you're probably a spy."

"Oh."

"So, if you don't mind," Robin continued, "could you tell us what Star says from the top of that building?"

Starfire smiled at David "I am sure you'll do wonderfully." She stood and rose into the air, soaring several blocks away and six floors up.

David waited, watching Starfire. "She says… uh… she says Robin smells like the feet. And now she's laughing- I guess the thinks that's… pretty funny."

Robin smiled a little. "Stars brand of humor."

"So you believe me?"

"Good enough for me," Cyborg said. "Super hearing is pretty weird for radiation exposure, but I guess no one really knows what you're going to get."

"No shit, I saw what Andrew did to that model. What's the next step?"

"We'll run some tests," Robin said. "When are you free to make it up to Jump?
