Look at this, it's a chapter that didn't take me two months to upload. Thanks to everyone that reviewed the last chapter, I really enjoy reading what you think of this story. It's really good. I promised an explanation in a last chapter and here it is. So enjoy.

(Jade's POV)

There was a long moment of silence before he spoke up again.

"I just want to start off by saying is that I'm sorry Tori. I'm so, so sorry" He said "If there was one thing that I didn't want is for you to get hurt. If I had known what was really going on, I would've taken you with me. But I didn't."

Tori's hand tightened around mine and I shuffled closer to her, hoping that it would give her some comfort her "The Mom that you know is not the woman I married. We were both quite young and I had just started my career, so we weren't exactly wanting kids straight away. But then you and Trina came along and I may not have showed it but I was over joyed. The two of you will always be my little girls" He carried on his eyes glistening with tears as he took the empty chair that was beside the door.

"I wanted to be a good Dad, but at the time we were really struggling with money. So I spent most of my time working, spending my nights at the station instead of at home with you. And it really hurt, but the only thing that made me continue to do so was that the two of you wouldn't miss out. I never knew your Mother was drinking till a few years later and that was when it all hit me. How much I had screwed up. Trina wouldn't even look at me no more, the girl had already thought I had abandoned her and the family. And you was just scared" He ran a hand through his greying hair and my gaze drifted to Tori, who had silent tears running down her cheeks.

"So I decided to leave, Holly was toxic and I needed to get out of that marriage. The plan was to come back and get you, after I had gotten a decent apartment and settled down. But your Mother banned me from seeing you, she told me you were a lot happier now that I wasn't in your life anymore, and I made the mistake of believing her. If I had known that she had left you alone Tori, I would've come and gotten you in a heart beat" He rested his head in his hands and I could tell he was trying hard not to cry. What had just been said was a huge truth bomb and I was scared with how Tori was holding up. I mean she had just learnt that the reason her Dad wasn't there was because her Mom had lied to him. God this was so fucked up.

"I know I wasn't there in the past and nothing can make up for it. But I'm going to be there for you from now on, I promise you that kiddo" It was when he promised, did Tori start to sob. My arm automatically wrapped around her, as she cried into my shirt. Me and her Dad locked eyes across the room and I saw a look of understanding and concern in his eyes, and I couldn't help but think that maybe he knows there's something going on between the two of us. Not the time to think about all of this Jade.

"You okay?" I whispered tilting my head slightly so I could whisper it in her ear. I felt her nod against my shirt as she looked up at her Dad.

"I would like my Dad back" She whispered and I noticed the relieved look in his eyes as she said that. "I know nothing can be done about the past, but I would like us to get to know each other better"

A smile broke out on his face "I'd be with you every step of the way kiddo" He his eyes flickered between me and Tori who was snuggled up next to me. "I have to make a call into work tell them I'll be taking some time off, I'll be back in a sec. Do you want me to send anyone else in?" He asked.

"Cat and Lizzie" Tori said.

"The redhead and the blonde" I added, realizing that he is going to know who he was looking for. He nodded, giving Tori one last smile before walking out shutting the door softly behind that.

"So that was..." Tori said, drifting off towards the end of her sentence.

"Yep" I said. She looked at me and smiled and I smiled back.

"Do you think what he said was true?"

I nodded "Definitely, I could tell he really regretted what he's done" I said resting my cheek on the top of her head. "But whatever happens, I'll be with you every step of the way" She smiled and kissed my cheek.

I sat there for a moment before a thought popped into my head "Is your Dad a cop?" I asked suddenly.

Tori looked at me curiously "Yeah he is, why do you ask?"

"No reason" I lied, but there was a reason. I needed to go to some with some high authority with this situation with Lizzie. There was no way I was going to let him anywhere near Lizzie again and having a cop on my side wouldn't be so bad either.

"I know when you're lying Jade, but you don't have to tell me right now" Tori said and I couldn't believe how understanding she was being right now. Another reason why I loved her so much.

"I just found out something that's been going on with Lizzie," I said softly. I had to talk to her about this, maybe not all of it but some of it at least.

"Like what?"

"My Dad doesn't treat her right" I choked out, not being able to form any more words.

"Like hits her?" Tori whispered and I nodded.

"It's so fucked up Tori" I whispered back, a lump forming in my throat. I could tell that Tori knew I wasn't telling her everything, but she never said anything. She probably knew I would tell her eventually, and I will.

The door opened and I looked up to see Cat smiling weakly at the two of us. There was red around her eyes and I could tell she had just been crying.

"Tori are you doing any better?" She said moving closer to the bed.

"Yeah much better, but why are you crying?" Tori asked and my stomach filled with dread.

"Cat, what happened?" I said and she glanced up at me. More tears falling down her cheeks.

"Her Dad keeps calling her," My fist clenched at my side "I told her that I told you. She ran out and I don't know what to do" I felt torn. I had to see if Lizzie was okay, but I didn't want to leave Tori. Before anyone else could say anything the Doctor came into the room and told us that we had to leave so he could do a check up.

I bent down to kiss her quickly on the cheek and she took the opportunity to whisper in my ear "Make sure she's okay" I nodded my response before leaving the room behind Tori. I couldn't stop the lingering feeling of dread. Something but didn't feel right. But right now, my situation with Tori was now on route to being fixable. All we need now as time, which we had a lot of. Now I had to make sure my sister was okay.

So what did you guys think? Did you like Tori's Dads explanation. It was hard to not make him the bad guy and to give him a reasonable reason why. So I made the Mom the bad guy. Not much of a cliffhanger there, but the next couple of chapters are going to big for a certain character and a much hated on will make their appearance next. So review and I'll see you all the next one.
