"I think I've had enough of this and I knew you were the one to call," the principle said, looking at Treville. "The teachers have been keeping tabs and enough is enough."

"Just tell me what is going on?" Treville asked, leaning on his knees. He was worried when the principle of the local elementary called and said they might have a young boy that is in trouble.

"His name is Athos. Every day he comes into school, his clothes dirty, no lunch bag or lunch money and sits at the lunch table with no food, he's been withdrawn, and no coat during the winter. We've talked to his parents but they just don't seem to be worried. This boy needs help and I knew you would be the one to help."

Treville nodded, writing everything down and sighed. All these signs sound familiar and he thought about Aramis and his situation. There are still times when Aramis thinks he's going to leave him. "Have you called him down?"

"Yes. Come on in Athos."

Treville turned in his seat to see a small boy, very thin, walking into the room, head down. The boys clothes looked as if they haven't been washed in days and his hair looked as if he hasn't washed in awhile. Yes, this kid was in trouble but it wasn't his fault.

"Athos. This is Officer Treville. He's going to be helping you."

"I don't need help," Athos said, glaring at the principle. He knew what the teachers whispered about. He knew what students talked about but he didn't care.

"Athos, I'm afraid you do need help. The things I've been told indicate something we call neglect. Do you know what that means?"

"No."

"Neglect means to fail to care for and pays little attention," Treville said. "You're teachers and principle are concerned for your safety and so am I."

"I can take care of myself. I've been doing it for a few months now. I don't need anyone's help!"

"I'm sorry Athos, but as a police officer it is my duty to help those in trouble and punish those who have wronged. I will be doing that today."

Eight hours later

Treville watched his two sons from across the table as he ate dinner. Yes two. He thought he was done when he adopted Aramis, but after everything that went down with Athos and his parents, he knew putting the kid in the orphanage was out of the question so he just took Athos there, signed the papers right then and there and walked back out with his second son. He was worried though that Aramis would not take a liking to Athos, thinking the young boy would steal him but when he introduced them, Aramis was ecstatic and gave Athos a hug then jumped up and down saying he was finally a big brother.

"Athos, how come you're not eating?" Aramis asked, looking over at Athos full plate of food. "Mr. Treville isn't the best cook but the food isn't that bad."

"Not hungry."

"Athos, I know for a fact that you haven't had breakfast or lunch today so you are hungry," Treville said as genteelly as he could.

"I'm not hungry."

"But Athos…"

"I'M NOT HUNGRY!" Athos shot out of his chair and ran upstairs to the room that Treville had said was his. He stared at the room for a moment and then went at it. He knocked over the desk chair, turned his mattress over, and pushed all his homework and lamp off the desk onto the floor, breaking the lamp. He opened the closet and pulled out all his clothes he had to take from his house. He grabbed all the games from the floor and threw them against the wall and let out a loud yell. Why couldn't people leave him alone? He was doing fine taking of himself. Sure his clothes were dirty but his mother never taught him to use the washer so he tried to clean his clothes in the sink with dish soap.

"Feel better?"

Athos spun around to see Aramis standing in the doorway, looking around the room. "Go away."

"Sorry bro but as your big brother I can't do that."

"You're not my brother." Athos flipped his mattress back over onto the bed and sat down with his arms crossed. "I want to go back home."

Aramis nodded and walked in, sitting next to Athos and put his arm around his little brother. "Do you really want to go back to the place where your parents neglected you?"

"What do you know?"

"More than you think. We're actually pretty much the same if you think about it."

"How so?" Athos looked at Aramis in confusion.

"My parents abandoned me at a church and never came back to me."

"They left you at a church?"

"Yeah. They really didn't care what I did and always left me at home with a nanny or over at a friends house for days. They never had time for me and it seemed I pretty much took care of myself."

"So what happened?"

"What God wanted. My parents must have known I needed to be with someone who can do better than them and they were right. I was in the orphanage for only two months when Mr. Treville adopted me. If you've noticed, I'm either touching him or you now. I have to know someone is there, that they will never leave me." Aramis then looked around the room and laughed. "I think Mr. Treville had expected me to do this but I didn't. I was just clinging to him and not letting him go."

"So Mr. Treville expected this from me?"

"I think he would be worried if you hadn't. He is a police officer."

Athos nodded. "What do I do now?"

"Well, now that you are part of this family, there are a few ground rules you need to know. One, I'm the big brother so that means you don't have to take care of yourself, that's my job and two, Mr. Treville will always be there for you when I'm not. Oh, and you need to get back down to the kitchen and eat your dinner."

The new brothers looked at one another and without thinking, they started to hug each other. Aramis to know his little brothers was with him and Athos to know his big brother would take care of him. Unknown to them, Treville stood by the door, a smile on his face.
