Just a small short story about how to help face your fears of storms. My dad did this to me when I was scared of storms and now I love them.

d'Artagnan pulled his blanket up over his head as a flash of lightning lite the darken sky and winced as thunder shook the whole house. He knew there was to be a storm in the afternoon and made sure he was done playing with his friends and told his dad and brothers he wasn't feeling well and was going to take a nap. In reality, he didn't want people to see him scared of a storm. He's always been afraid of storms but he would always go to his parents but he was afraid to do that here. What if his dad thought him a baby for being afraid of storms? He knew his brothers weren't afraid because Aramis told them it was going to storm and they all got excited. Except him.

"Hey d'Artagnan, you feeling okay?" Athos voice asked, cutting him off his thoughts.

"Yeah. Stomach is just feeling uneasy," he said, hoping that was a good answer for his brother to leave him alone, but the dip on the bed told him differently. He tried to stop his body from shaking when another roll of thunder hit and a hand on his shoulder didn't help.

"Are you sure you're okay? You're shaking."

"Yeah."

Athos smiled when he heard the shaking in his little brothers voice and knew what the real problem was. "You know, I used to have a younger brother." He smiled when the blanket moved to revile a shocked face of his new younger brother. "He had died when he was only three. Caught a sickness and never recovered because mom and dad never took him to the doctor when he needed it the most. We shared the same room just like us and one night, a terrible storm hit and before I knew it, I had a small little brother practically burrowing into my side."

"What was your brothers name?" d'Artagnan asked. He wondered if his dad knew of this information.

"Thomas. He was scared of storms and he found being by my side he felt safe."

"You didn't think he was a baby?"

"All kids are allowed to be afraid of storms. I was at your age."

"How did you face your fears?"

Athos smiled and grabbed d'Artagnan's hand and pulled him from the bed. He made sure his brother had his Batman blanket and lead him down the stairs, through the family room where Aramis and Porthos were wrestling, through the kitchen where there dad just looked at them and smiled, and stopped by the back door. "This is how I got over my fear. When my parents actually acted like parents we did this." He pulled two chairs up to the backdoor and helped d'Artagnan into his chair before sitting in his own. "We sat at the backdoor and watched the storm. The storm can't hurt you but instead think of it as a show."

d'Artagnan nodded and grabbed Athos's hand when another lightning lite the sky but instead of hiding under his blanket, he watched the lightning dance over the sky. It was beautiful. "Do you stay inside?"

"No. If its not raining, we would go outside but since it's raining, we'll stay here or you can watch it from the porch."

d'Artagnan nodded and moved closer to his brother, smiling when lightning once again lite the sky and clapped when the thunder rolled loudly like it was trying to out do the lightning. From this moment on, d'Artagnan will proudly say his brother helped him get over his fear of storms and whenever a storm rolled through, he would run to the window to watch the show.
