Brian the Time Saver

Chapter 2 - Recalling What Happened

Later that day, Stewie managed to get the information on that fateful day.

"All right," he said. "I've gotten the exact date and time you died, Brian. Still, I don't quite understand what happened when we were in London."

Brian was still inside the machine.

"Maybe it could be that I had met someone that looked exactly like I do now," Brian realized. "He was a white lab, like I am, and he wore a black collar. Went by the name of Bradley, if I recall."

"Bradley?" Vinny repeated. "You don't think Bradley could be you, do you?"

"I'm starting to think he is me, Vinny."

"Well, if this Bradley is you," Vinny began, "than I think you must have used that alias to hide your real identity, so Luke wouldn't know that you saved yourself from danger eight years ago."

"And by black collar," Stewie added, "do you mean your Italian collar, which you started wearing for that dog show last year?"

"I can't remember whether it was either my Italian collar or Vinny's collar, since they're both black."

"Well," Vinny began as he took off his collar, "I guess there's one way to know if it's true."

Vinny opened the machine and gave Brian his collar right before he closed it again.

"It's a good thing that you can exist for one minute after exiting the machine if you don't exist in this timeline."

"Thanks, Vinny," Brian replied. "I'll come back in one piece if my mission is successful."

"I hope so, Brian," Vinny hoped. "I hope so."

"Got my backpack on, Brian?" Stewie asked.

Brian put on the backpack, which contained the (updated) return pad.

"Yep," he answered when he took his collar off and put Vinny's on. "And I have Vinny's collar on, too."

"Wait."

Scott came into the bedroom, getting everyone's attention.

"I couldn't help but overhear about the mission to save your life, Brian. If you do that, then the Griffins won't be getting me as their dog. I'll probably never see you guys again."

Scott then opened the machine and let Brian out. His minute was just starting.

"Don't worry, Scott," Brian assured. "I've seen you before in my timeline, and you already have an owner there. I'll be sure to visit you after my mission is over."

Brian then handed Vinny his red collar, which he then put on.

"Well," Scott began, "good luck on your mission, Brian. May peace be with you."

"And may peace be with you, Scott," Brian replied, giving Scott a hug.

Stewie then typed in the coordinates on the machine to the morning of the day Brian died.

"I've typed in the coordinates, Brian," Stewie said. "The machine's ready for you. You better hurry before you fade away."

"Thanks, Stewie," Brian replied as he got into the machine. "See you and Vinny later."

With that, the machine closed. Brian then activated it and disappeared.

Brian appeared at the puppy farm he was raised in. He made it to his destination.

"Okay," Brian said, placing his paws on his hips. "I've made it to the puppy farm. And with only a few hours left before the accident, I have to find out where I am. But first, I have to find my parents."
