Chapter 3 - A Visit from a Stranger

Inside one of the dog cages in the farm, Biscuit, Brian's mother, was busy feeding her first litter. Her mate, Coco, who wore a green collar and looked exactly like Brian does now, had looked at the litter with content.

"Look at them," Coco whispered. "They're so cute."

"Yes," Biscuit replied. "It's such a shame that we're going to give them away someday."

She was well aware that her litter would be adopted by families that needed puppies.

"Oh, Coco, what are we going to do?"

"I don't know if there's anything we can do, my darling," Coco answered. "Maybe we can pray for another litter, and love them like we do this litter."

"What about Brian?" Biscuit added. "He's still so young. I don't know if I can bear to part with him. I love him so much."

"Yes, dear," Coco hugged. "I love him, too."

The young Brian looked at his parents. Since he couldn't talk yet, all he could do is yip. So, using his nose, he opened the cage and went outside to play, not knowing about what's going to happen to him.

When their brother got out, the litter soon got out of the feeding and started yipping.

"Be careful, kids," Biscuit called.

"Yes, kids," Coco added, "be careful."

"Boy, you have such a fine litter."

Coco and Biscuit were surprised to hear a voice that was unfamiliar to them. They peered out their heads and saw that their grown-up son had come into the barn. However, they didn't know that he was their son.

"Hello," Coco greeted. "Don't think I've seen you around here before."

"Yeah," Brian said. "I'm kinda new to this part of Austin. My name's Bradley."

"Nice to meet you, Bradley," Coco replied. "I'm Coco, and this is my mate, Biscuit. We've started a family a month ago and are still getting adjusted to it."

Brian chuckled.

"It's good to finally see you again, Mom and Dad," Brian thought. "Last times I saw either of you was when you got hit by a milk truck, father, and when you were stuffed, Mom. But I'm just glad I can finally chat with you two after eight years."

"So, Coco," Brian began aloud, "What are your litter's names?"

"Well," Coco began, "There's Jerry, Thomasine, Robert, Dandelion and Brian. You should watch Brian, though-he's the runt of the litter."

Brian took this in with surprise.

"Really? Brian's the runt?"

"Yeah," Coco answered. "But still, we love him no matter what."

"Is it okay if I keep a good eye on your pups for a while?" Brian requested.

"Well, I don't see why not," Biscuit said. "But you must be good to them."

"Thanks," Brian replied. "We'll be back in a few hours."

With that, Brian, his younger self, and the rest of the litter went outside so they could play.

Author's note: Sorry for the wait, everyone. I just had so many things to do. My father's been working on the patio and needed me to help him. I promise to continue this story when I have the chance. In the meantime, you can review this story and tell me what you think so far.
