So this is different then the other ones I've wrote! This is kind of another way I would think it would be cool if they got a reality check like 'hey your youngest is growing up and you don't even see it'! Anyway hope you like it none the less!
With Alan back at school it left the island boring. Even Gordon found himself missing the small blonde, after all he was the real life of the so-called party. So that's how all four brothers (yes Johns rotation was this week) found themselves in various positions in Sprouts room.
"This just isn't the same! And I'M SO BORED!"
Scott had his eyes focused on something that just didn't seem to fit in the average decor of the teens room. He got up off the bed and hushed Gordon reaching out and grabbing an old book that was stuck between the wall and Alan's dresser. Upon seeing the book the others climbed up behind him. Wiping a hand over the worn cover he read the title aloud.
"Oh my dear the teenage years"
Opening to the first page they found a note. With nothing better to do they all came to the unspoken agreement that 'hey Al wasn't here, what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him' and continued on.
Dear Book,
This is a blood pact that no matter what happens or whatever crazy shit that may kill us we will forever and always be the best of friends. In you we hold memories that we wont want forgotten and yes Alan maybe one day after we die and the book is found we will be famous dead people too. We were gonna do a time capsule but that's to old school so we choose you dear book. This is starting to get too sentimental for a note to a book so I'm gonna stop before I start to sound like a freak. Shut it Izzy and stop laughing.
Izzy Vantez, Alan Tracy, Fermat H(Dude how the hell do you spell that), Dylan Bozwell, Jake Sanders.
Bloody finger print below!
Who are these people? That was the first thing that came to mind after reading the names at the end of the letter. They turned the page and the first picture and only picture on the page was one of a group of teens. A girl and four boys. Fermat was laying on the ground, one arm holding his head up. The only blonde in the picture who was undoubtedly Alan was on the back of a red-head and there was a girl leaning against the other boy who had an interesting shade of blue hair. Over the people there were arrows pointing at them and names above the arrows. Izzy was the girl with unruly curly hair, Fermat was the youngest on the ground, Alan was the blonde, Dylan was the older kid who had Al on his back, and the kid with the blue hair was Jake.
Turning the page again they laughed.
Dylan was standing with his hands spread out in front of him, his eyes squinted shut and a green gooey substance was rolling off his head. Alan, Fermat, and Izzy were laughing with red faces and clutching their stomachs. The picture below it showed Dylan running after the mastermind of the prank and the third showed him on top of Alan his hands buried in the younger blondes sides, Alan trying to push him off and his face beet red.
Below the pictures there was Fermat's neat cursive script.
1)Science + Alan + Pranks = No good
2)Dylan punishing Alan for his misdeed.. Go for his sides Dyl their his weakness!
"WOW! He's better than me"
John shook his head, "I don't know if that's a good thing Gordo"
"For you it's not!"
Scott flipped the page again and they snickered. Above the picture was written in big bold letters 'DETENTION!' this picture came from the back of the room. Someones coat was covering the top of the shot. Alan was sleeping on his desk with a huge book sitting on it up right to hide the fact he was probably sleeping, Dylan was texting someone from under the desk, Izzy was throwing paper balls at the person behind the camera and Fermat was the only one actually attempting to do school work.
"I wonder what got them detention?"
Scott snickered again and pointed at a dream bubble above Alan's head.
Hmmm... This desk is so much more comfortable than a pillow!
"Oh that explains a lot"
They turned the page again and awed at the picture. They were all inside the pool, but there was other kids who weren't mentioned around them so it must have been a school event class thing. Alan had Izzy on his shoulders and Jake had Fermat on his. Dylan was sitting off to the side with a pouting look and was just able to get his face into the camera's shot. Below him they could see the bulkiness of a cast on his leg.
Mr. Pouty-kins broke his leg... Bimbo!
The picture below it showed Jake with Fermat in his arms both smiling up at the camera in the water.
"Dude I feel like we're being replaced"
Scott nodded his head but proceeded to turn the page. On the next page was a collage of pictures. In all of them was Alan doing different activities. Written in the middle was 'Not your average cup of Joe'. Upon getting a closer look they realized that the activities were sports. Alan was doing track in one, football in the other (running back), swimming, cross-country, soccer, lacrosse, and even one where he smiled brightly a medal around his neck (triathlete).
"Guys its like we don't even know him"
"Gordon's right for once (HEY) he's like a complete stranger to us"
"He's practically growing up right before our eyes and we don't even know it"
John reached from his spot behind Scott and turned the page. In the picture Alan was somewhat green in the face and was apparently using Dylan's chest as a pillow. The elder kid was holding a thermometer in one had and rubbing the other through Alan's hair. They knew from previous experience when the younger blonde was a kid that was one of the only ways to get him to sleep when he was ill or hurt. But seeing Alan sick here and the other kid doing it in their place hurt.
It was almost as if they weren't needed anymore. There was another picture and Dylan was glaring at the person behind the camera and trying to block Alan from the image with his hand.
Big Brotha to the rescue once again.. Momma Dylan in da house!
They exchanged looks. Dylan wasn't Alan's older brother they were. But then again all this stuff had happened and they had no idea. John turned the page again and saw a pouting Alan with an arm thrown over his shoulder. A picture below it was a blown up version of the above one. It had Alan smiling this time with three families sitting around him, along with Brains. In between the two it said Alan's unofficial families, his was a no-show again! Family Day 2010.
They all had a varying look of shock on their faces. They could remember getting the papers from Alan when he was still younger at Wharton's about Family Day, but they had never been given the chance to actually go with The Thunderbird's and everything. But they had eventually just stopped getting them.
Another page turned and they saw Alan holding a baby Doll and Izzy was holding her hair looking as if she wanted to pull her hair out.
IT WON'T STOP CRYING!
"Ah sex ed"
"What about sex ed?"
They spun around and saw the Tracy patriarch standing in the doorway.
"What ya got there?
"A memory book of Allie and some friends"
Jeff nodded and sat down next to his sons. As they turned another page a disk fell out that had 'Surf's Up' written on the top. Jeff shrugged his shoulders and put it in the DVD player and pushed play.
After watching it they turned to Virgil who looked shocked, "Apparently I'm no the only one with the musical talent"
Looking down at the page it fell off of there was a sketch of a DVD in the middle of the page and old tape was crumpled up in the corner. Above the circle it read 'Alan and Izzy's first try at the musical arts'
They turned the page again and the room was dark except for the glow from a television. Piled on a bed was the entire group with bowls of popcorn and soda.
Movie Night in Dylan's Dorm
Below it was the same picture except the sun was coming through the windows and they were all asleep. Seeing Alan hanging half on half off the bed made them chuckle.
We failed to stay up again.
The next picture had Dylan standing on the stage giving his group of friends a thumbs up as he was handed a diploma. In the back of the picture you could see Alan and Izzy wiping fake tears from their face. Behind them sat Two adults that looked like Dylan and a little girl and two little boys. Doing the same as Alan and Izzy.
Below it read 'We are so proud of you Dylan. Your going top great places dude!
-Good luck bro don't forget about us sophomores! - Izzy
-Make sure to visit us when you leave!- Alan
- Dude you were my inspiration for the blue hair! We're gonna miss our big bro!- Jake
-Thanks for being such a great friend to us! Good luck in college and the military! We're gonna pray for you every night bro!- Fermat
The last picture in the book was behind another DVD. Jeff decided then and there they would watch the DVD first before finishing the book. He exchanged it for the other DVD and pushed play.
"Is it working?"
"Well stupid the lights flashing!"
"Watch you language squirt"
The blackness faded out to Alan's smiling face and soon panned out to the others. Dylan had a buzz-cut so it was obviously after he had graduated, he was wearing blue swimming shorts. Alan and Fermat had green ones on, Jake wearing pink ones and Izzy was wearing a red bikini bottom and a black surfers shirt. They were all tan and smiling.
"So buzz-kill (Watch it kid!) ok ok Buzz-cut over here visited today we're going to the beach"
"WE'RE GOING SURFING AND ROASTING WIENIES!"
Alan was back in front of the camera and it was only then they noticed the surfboards they had under their arms.
The time skipped on the tape and they watched as Alan rode a wave in and went back out. (I didn't know he knew how to surf) Someone called them all in, they were guessing it was Dylan. Alan grabbed the camera and turned it on the cook.
"So Dylan what branch did you enter?"
"The marines Blondie"
It was true. On his right bicep they could see the tattoo of the marines insignia. Dylan had grown and was more muscle now.
"Do you shoot bad guys? Like Superman?"
"First Izzy Superman doesn't shoot bad-guys he takes them to jail and second if I told ya I'd have to kill ya"
"But if he did it would be in the name of justice?"
"Yes eat your dog girl!"
"She was just asking a question"
The camera panned out to Fermat sitting on Dylan's left. A large grin on his mysteriously glasses-less face. Dylan laughed and the camera shook as Alan laughed. Dylan reached a larger hand over and ruffled the kid's hair.
"Don't make me hurt you short stack"
"Hey he's not short he's fun size"
Jake reached over and smashed his cake in Dylan's face. Soon the whole thing turned into a big food fight until Dylan screamed and gave chase. Alan laughed and the last thing they saw was Dylan pick Alan picking up and the camera dropping from his hand.
BZZSHHHXZZZZZZZ
The screen went dark...
"Guys look"
They turned to Scott who was pointing down at the last picture in the large book. It was of the group a person short standing in a cemetery dressed all in black, all huddled together next to a coffin as it was lowered. Izzy was crying softly her with her head leaning on Jake's shoulder, his arm around her shoulders holding her close. Alan was on Jake's other side and his hand was intertwined in Jake's, an arm around Fermat's small shoulders. All four had tears in their eyes and on their faces.
The coffin was a deep mahogany with an American Flag on top of it.
Below it the writing was nice and neat.
Dylan Thomas Bozwell
1992-2013
Best Friend, Older Brother to many, Hard-working son
Never Forgotten
" So that's why he wanted to send flowers to a cemetery and asked about a black tie"
Scott gave Jeff a look.
"you mean you didn't ask?"
Jeff looked down and shook his head.
"That's it we're gonna go visit Allie.. I feel like we just watched him grow up before our eyes and we missed it all"
Nobody could object to Scott's demand.
So I hope you liked it! Its kind of sad at the end! OH and The Surfs Up part. That's from the movie teen beach movie! Which I don't own any of! But um if you go and look up the music video for Surf's Up just imagine Alan as Ross Lynch and Izzy as Maia Mitchell (Mac)! Once again don't own either the song or the movie!
