Beyond the Nightmare of Life

Chapter Nine - The Healing Alchemist

"Are you sure this is going to work?" Edward asked. Even though he was very unsure, Sieza was certain. Her face was full of excitement as she knew that her plan would absolutely work.

"Yeah, I can even go with you guys. Mom has night-shift and its the again tonight an its the weekend so I can go with you. "Once we find him and bring him down we can tell everyone the truth. You didn't do it. It may be hard to convince them but in time I'm sure that it'll work."

"But Sieza," Winry interrupted "You'll be arrested for helping us. You may even be stuck in jail for life."

"So, it doesn't matter. I want to help you guys. Plus, I have a secret I have to tell you. Please promise you won't tell my mom or anything alright?"

Edward and Winry exchanged looks and then nodded at her. Sieza then stood up and grabbed a sheet of paper and pencil. Once she sat down she began drawing until to Ed and Winry's surprise created an Alchemic circle. After that she took the pencil and cut her hand. Ed and Winry gasped but she put her hand up to signal it was alright. She clapped her hands and pressed down on the paper and after placing her hurt hand on the paper, Ed and Winry gasped, seeing that her cut was healing until it was completely gone.

"So, it really was you that healed me." Ed stuttered.

Sieza nodded and smiled, "Yeah, I study healing Alchemy. So I call myself the Healing Alchemist. I've studied Healing Alchemy since I was a little girl. But I've never told my mother. After all, that is how my father died..."

"What?" Winry cried.

Sieza smiled and looked down at hands. "My father was a healing Alchemist. I learned by finding one of his books that my mom tried to hide from me. He died because my mom was going to die when he had me. So he used his energy and alchemy to save us both. My mom was devastated; she had to take care of me alone...and I never got to meet my father. So here I am...learning the taboo that took my dad away. If I'm not careful the same thing could happen to me."

Edward and Winry were both silent, especially Ed. Alchemy that killed, but saved others. It was just so hard to take all that in.

"If my mom knew..." Sieza suddenly broke in a sob "She would never forgive me." Winry walked over and comforted her. Edward couldn't help but stare.

"Your father died because of equivalent exchange. Do you know that principle?" he asked.

Sieza shook her head.

"In order to obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is the law of equivalent exchange."

"So, my father's life for my mother's life."

"Yeah...that's how I really got my Auto-mail. My brother and I tried to bring back our mother. But...I lost my arm and leg while Alphonse...my...my brother he had lost his whole body. I attached his soul to some armor. He died because Fukai must have stabbed his Blood Seal." he explained. He tried remaining calm, but a tear managed to run down his cheek. Winry could see his pain, she had never seen him upset. She didn't even remember him crying at his mother's funeral. That was because he put in his mind that he could bring her back.

"Sorry, I shouldn't get upset. Clearly you've gone through more than me. Let's just get packed and get ready to head out for the night. We can start by searching the forest. There has to be something more inside."

With all of them agreeing to the plan, they all began to get packed, making sure they grabbed flashlights, food and water, and chalk for Sieza's Alchemy. Edward and Winry fixed their disguises while Sieza got changed into some different clothes. She changed into some shorts with a short sleeve hoodie and let her hair down. After making sure that Sieza's mother was leaving for work, the three teens carefully snuck out of the house and headed into the dark forest, prepared for anything.

~ Kalahari Police Station ~

Abyss knocked as he entered Colonel Hawkeye's room, seeing that she was reading a book.

"Hello Colonel, may I come in?" Abyss asked.

Hawkeye silently nodded. Abyss came in and closed the door behind him. Then he took a seat in front of her desk. She stopped reading and looked up at him. "Can I help you with something?" she asked. Abyss nodded, his head moving down. "Do you mind if I talk to you...you know without keeping in mind that were officers?"

"Yes, Abyss."

"I was wondering, if you could go out to dinner with me sometime while you're still here. As just friends of course. I know that you've lost someone very close to you and...I want to understand your pain Colonel Hawkeye. I do hope you understand..."

Hawkeye, to Abyss's surprise, smiled "I would like that very much. I know that maybe I'm pushing myself too hard. I-."

Out of nowhere, the phone suddenly rang. Hawkeye picked up the phone, "Hello."

Abyss saw her eyes grow big. They quickly filled with horror, "You're kidding me...alright. We'll begin the search immediately." As she hung up the phone she stood from her desk and rushed out the door, only to see that Havoc, Falman, Furey, and Breda all seemed to be out in the hallway at the same time, no doubt they were snooping. At the same time, Muston, Ekken, and Armstrong also appeared.

"W-what is going on here?" Muston asked.

"Winry Rockbell...she's here in Kalahari!"

Oh no...that can not be good! XD So this story I say has about 5-8 chapters left based on how I release it. If this chapter was kind of boring...sorry. It was needed to create this huge chapter coming up. I'm not going to say too much but...um...something big happens. You may hate me...or you may love me!
