The ride home from the bank had been surprisingly silent. Gordon was humming something under his breath, his hand tapping out what ever tune was stuck in his head. Virgil was looking out the large windows as he steered them back, seeming to know the tune Gordon was drumming out as he bobbed his head to the sound.
Alan sat behind them, just as silent, looking out the side windows. He grimaced discreetly and rubbed at his aching ribs. While he was glad that he had not allowed the Hood to fall into the Mole (even though the man deserved that ten times over) his bruised ribs were protesting such actions. It was painful to breath normally, but he did it as to not rouse suspicion from his two elder brothers in front of him. They hit some turbulence and Thunderbird Two rocked a bit, Alan had to bite his lip form yelling out as his ribs twinged painfully, doubling over slightly as it became too painful to breath up right.
And it was just his luck that Smother Hen Virgil chose that exact moment to look over his shoulder to comment on his baby brothers silence.
"Hey Allie your being awful quiet back there"
The medics eyes widened when he saw his Baby Brother bent over, grimacing in pain. Virgil was quick in pushing the auto pilot on and turning his seat around. His eyes automatically scanning for injuries.
"Hey hey hey, what's wrong kiddo?"
Alan shook his head slowly, his world spinning at the searing pain shooting up from his ribs. Virgil eyed him concernedly as he leaned forward to try and gently unfold his baby brother. Gordon had since spun his seat around too, his eye brows meeting in concern.
"Hey Sprout, you seem to be favoring those ribs there"
Make no mistake, Virgil was able to unwrap his baby brother from himself because Alan allowed him to (or that was what their baby brother was allowed to believe to get him through the smothering) Gordon held his left hand tightly, as if letting him know to squeeze if it hurt too bad. Virgil pressed in gently in certain spots as he watched to see any reaction his baby brother gave. He pressed in on the lower left side and Alan gave a mild squawk as he tried to move away from his older brothers prodding hands but Gordon's legs kept him from getting too far.
"Where do you think your going little man?"
His tone was light, soft, joking, everything that Alan was coming to realize he would never have heard again had the Hood had the Hood had his way. Virgil was frowning in concern at his brothers reaction, standing up to stand in front of him. He cradled the back of his little brothers head, rubbing his cheeks with his thumbs softly.
"Let me take a look, alright buddy"
Alan stared up at his older brother for a moment before nodding his head. Virgil smiled down at him softly as his hands gently traveled down to the hem of his brothers shirt and pulled it up slowly, softly. Gordon took in a deep breath at the colors that painted their baby brothers chest. Virgil sucked in some air as he knelt down to get a closer look. It took all he had nut to voice any of the slightly gruesome (and maybe not all humanly possible) things he wanted to do to the man who had done this to his baby brother.
He prodded at the particularly dark colors and trailed the bruises to his back.
"Gee kiddo, where'd you get all of these?"
Gordon had since began rubbing at his little brothers lower back, an action (as well as the last day) that was causing him to doze off where he was standing and therefore hadn't thought about it all too much on what he was saying before he said it.
"Took a slide down One's exhaust vent"
"What?"
Alan's eye shot wide open as he realized what he had said, and the fact that his brothers were now staring at him and the tiny little red blinking light on Two's control panel indicated that the comm's were still on and everyone had heard that. Virgil exchanged looks with Gordon over his brothers shoulder and the red head nodded as he reached forward to push the comm switch.
They'd get back tot hat part when they got home.
"Allie we will talk about that, trust me when I say we will, but I think that can wait until we are all together again. Now I don't think that anything's broken but I still want to take a better look at them when we get home."
Alan nodded along, knowing it was futile to fight him when he was clearly in charge. Gordon gently pulled him down into his lap, mindful of his injured ribs, and wrapped his arms around his little brothers waist.
"Well besides that, we're happy your ok kiddo"
Alan smiled, bending his head towards his shoulder as his brothers breath tickled his ear. Virgil watched them for a moment before he broke into a smile and reached over to gently ruffle Alan's untamed blonde locks. Alan leaned back into his direct older brothers chest as he too turned to look out the large front windows.
It was going to be a long way home and he couldn't help but wonder something.
How were the others going to react?
