Jay sat in the car staring at flickering light in the parking garage for nearly a half hour. He really didn't want to go face Erin again, but he knew at some point he was going to have to. He felt like such an ass for doing that. After all they had been through, he should've told her right away. He knew he shouldn't have sprung it on her. He got of the car, went into the hotel, and took the elevator to the floor they were staying on. He opened the door to their room and found Erin asleep on the bed, still in her dress, her heels and clutch thrown on the bed. Jay moved her shoes and bag off the bed and covered her with the blankets. Then he went to change out of his suit in the bathroom.

"Hey, you're awake," Jay said, slightly startled.

Erin just looked at him, half angry, half sad. She said nothing to him, and walked into the bathroom. When she came out a few minutes later, Jay was sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting for her.

"I'm sorry. I'm an ass," he said, looking down.

"Unzip me," Erin said, completely ignoring what Jay had just said. He unzipped her dress and she put on a pair of yoga pants and a tank top, and got back in bed. Jay stayed standing dumbfounded.

"Can we talk about this, Erin, please? Don't shut me out now. I need you," Jay begged her.

Erin felt her heart break a bit, but her stubbornness got in the way of her saying anything more than, "We'll talk in the morning."

Erin and Jay's flight left in the afternoon, but neither of them slept in. They both had way too much on their minds. Jay got out of bed and decided to try to get some work done on his laptop while Erin pretended to be asleep. After she couldn't act any longer she got out of bed, and sat next to Jay on the small couch in the hotel room.

"I had this terrible dream last night," Jay said, "that I was an ass to my girlfriend and I ruined one of the best days we've had together."

Erin rolled her eyes ready to speak but Jay continued, "Oh wait, that wasn't a dream was it? I'm sorry, Erin. I was wrong."

"Yeah you are an ass," Erin said, without looking at him.

"Erin," Jay said, "I don't want to be like this when we get back home. Don't shut me out."

Erin stood up from the couch. "Don't shut you out? You know about everything I'm going through from my mom who suddenly wants a relationship again to my recovery after this accident! The last thing I'm doing is shutting you out."

"Erin—"

"No, Jay it's my turn. Do you realize what I've been through the last few months? Some of the hardest times of my adult life. And you've been there to get me through them. How am I supposed to feel when you tell me that you're going undercover on a drug bust for a few weeks two nights before it happens when you've known about it for a while? Am I supposed to be excited?!"

Jay sat quietly while Erin continued to release all of her emotions. "What am I supposed to do if something happens to you?" Erin barely choked out, trying to hold back sobs.

Jay walked toward her and hugged her tightly. She tried to resist but she let herself collapse in his arms eventually. "It's gonna be okay, Erin. I promise nothing is going to happen to me. Everything is gonna work out, you have to believe that."

"Alright, Jefferson High School is having issues with dealing of drugs over the last few months. It started out as a small group of students using cocaine in the school, and then it spread quickly. We got this case after one of the students overdosed in the bathroom last week. The plan is to send Halstead into the school as a dean's assistant, and Antonio in as a janitor to watch over him. You are looking for the dealer or possibly dealers in the school. The only people that are going to know about this operation are the superintendent and CPD." Voight said, briefing the group Monday morning.

"Do we have any idea who it could be?" Ruzek asked.

"From the information we have it could be anyone. A teacher, a student…we just aren't sure. It could be a group." Voight said.

"So for the rest of the day, I need Halstead and Dawson to make sure they have their cover stories right. You two are staying in an apartment building not far from the school. Hopefully this operation doesn't take too long." Voight continued, before walking back into his office.

"That's pretty messed up, high schools with drug problems," Ruzek said.

"Perks of living in Chicago," Olinsky responded.

Jay was packing the last of his things before he was supposed to head out to the apartment that he was going to be staying at for however long he had to. Him and Erin were okay, but he really wished everything was better between them. There was still a bit of tension and awkwardness between them. Jay heard the door of his apartment open and a familiar voice call out for him. "Jay?" Erin said, walking toward his bedroom.

"In here," Jay said. Erin walked in and sat on the bed near a bag filled with Jay's toiletries.

"When do you leave?" Erin asked quietly.

"In about 15 minutes," Jay said looking up at Erin, "what's up?"

"I uh..I just wanted to make sure we were good," Erin said, not looking at Jay, and picking imaginary lint off of Jay's sweatshirt that was on the bed.

Jay walked over to Erin and sat next to her. "Of course we're good. There's no reason why we shouldn't be," Jay said, putting his arm around Erin.

Erin rested her head on Jay's chest. "I love you, you better be careful out there. Don't do anything stupid. And don't let any students hit on you. I only wish I had a teacher as cute as you when I was in high school," Erin said, laughing and fighting back tears.

"I am pretty cute aren't I?" Jay said, smirking.

Erin playfully slapped his chest. "Yeah you are. Don't let it get to your head though."

They sat in silence for a few moments, just enjoying each other's company. "Well I uh..I'm gonna have to go now." Jay said standing up. Erin reached over to give Jay his favorite black sweater.

"Keep it with you," Jay said, giving Erin a wink.

They walked toward the door in silence before Jay turned toward Erin and gave her a tight hug, and then he kissed her one last time. Jay walked out of the door towards the car that was waiting for him.

Erin walked toward the living room and sat on the couch clutching the sweatshirt tightly, and with tear filled eyes she hoped the operation went smoothly, and that Jay would be home soon.
