Bella P.O.V.

A couple days after Malila told us her story, Leah and I were running through Forks, on our way to the Cullen Mansion. It wasn't that far from the Rez, but taking the roads would just make us antsy and pick our nerves us. Normally when we ran, it was full of fun and laughter, and we would race and roll around into trees and bushes, goofing off for no real reason. But today we were on a mission, so all easy going pretenses were put to the side.

The trees were going by in blurs of green and brown as we went as fast as we knew how. I had already let them know that we were coming, so they wouldn't be on the defensive and ready to attack, since they could hear us running from miles away. It was not good to have a coven of angry vampires on your scent. And even though the Cullens were the nicest ones I've ever met, it was always the better idea to stay on their good side. As we got closer, I could faintly hear sounds of them moving around outside and in some rooms inside.

We burst through the tree line that surrounded the giant clearing their house was in, Leah's black panther form just behind my white tiger, and even as we got closer to the house we stayed in them. Leaping onto the porch, we shifted as our paws touched down, and ended up kneeling back as humans. Luckily our clothes remained on us, though not exactly in pristine condition.

"Bella, Leah, I'm so glad you're here! You guys haven't been by in forever!"

We were talked in a double hug that would have had us on the ground if we hadn't been used to it. Alice was my best friend besides Leah, and even though we had different personalities, we clicked from the first day we met. She was a good sic inches shorter than me at 5'1", and had a pixie cut which made her look like a brunette Tinkerbell. Her skin was a pale and almost see through, though it definitely suited her. She was wearing casual clothes, though they were still of the 'latest fashion trends'. Alice had tried numerous times to get me into fashion my buying me a whole new wardrobe, but after two years I still didn't understand anything.

After a good squeeze, she let us go and lead us through the mud room and into the living room. The rest of the family was gathered there, save for Carlisle, who was working at the hospital, and Edward, who disliked me and Leah. When I first moved to Forks, he was determined to be my mate, following me around everywhere and declaring his love for me in the middle of the hallways and during lunch in the cafeteria. Never mind the fact that I am a capital L lesbian and haven't seen a dick since I was 13. He was also a complete asshat to everyone including his family, always saying that he knew better than everyone since he was 'the oldest'. I finally had to beat the message into him, quite literally I mean, that I was in no way, shape, or form interested, he had decided to keep his distance.

Walking into the room, we got the usual hello's and hi's, except from Esme who came and asked if we were hungry, after hugging us as tight as possible without breaking us. We confirmed that yes we were hungry and we told her what we wanted, so she went into the kitchen to fix it while we stepped further into the room to find seats. Alice had sat into the floor next to her mate Jasper in front of the loveseat. Jasper was originally born in the south, and was every bit the southern gentlemen to every woman, even though he wasn't interested. He had curly dirty blonde hair that sometimes hung in his face, covering his honey colored eyes. His skin was just as pale as Alice's, as was all the Cullen's skin, though his didn't seem as translucent as hers. Normally, he had a pained expression on his face as he could feel people's emotions, and being at school it was very taxing on him. At home, he was definitely more relaxed, and today he gave a smile and a nod.

Behind them sat Rosalie and Emmett. Rosalie had been a beautiful human, and becoming a vampire had on enhanced her natural features. Her hair was long, blonde, and layered, falling just above her butt. She had about the same fashion sense as Alice, though she was more into high end fashion that complimented her features. Rose was taller than me by a couple inches, but that didn't compare to how tall Emmett was, who is her mate. He stood at least 6'3", and probably weight around 250 lbs before he was turned. He was a big muscle-y dude, and really looked like he could and would crush anything in his path. His arms alone were like wrestler's or body builders, and always bulged out of his shirts and jackets. Even though he looked incredibly menacing, he was a big teddy bear on the inside, always smiling and giving people hugs.

That left Leah and I to take two of the seats on the sofa, leaving one for Esme. The T.V. was on, but mostly just for background noise. Rose turned to look at us, already knowing that we wanted to talk to her. She really wasn't one to make small talk, as we found out over the years.

"Do you remember being in the New Mexico/Arizona area about six or seven years ago?" I asked.

She thought for a few seconds before nodding. "Yes. I had been on a small vacation around the country, and since I really couldn't be out during the day there, I explored what I could during the night. Plus it's how I travelled from state to state. Why?"

"Do you remember saving a little girl from a coyote attack?"

Her eyes grew wide and the other Cullens gasped. I figured it was because she had only told the family. "How did you know? I didn't tell anyone, not even these guys."

Oh. That's why everyone seemed so surprised. "You know Mr. Parker that moved onto the Rez?" They all nodded, if a little confused. "Well his twin daughters moved in with him the other week. And one of them was that little girl you saved. Except now she's 17 instead of 9." They all sat back in shock, especially Rose, who looked like she was gonna cry, even though she couldn't.

"I never found out what happened to her after," she whispered. "I couldn't go back because of how sunny it was all the time. She was so cold already when I found her, and she had fallen hard and scraped her head pretty badly. She was this small child, and I could tell she was scared, but when she opened her eyes and saw me, she just curled into me, like she knew she was safe." Emmett held her close as she talked, and Jasper tried to take away as much pain and sadness as her could handle.

Esme came out of the kitchen then, eyes shining with tears that would never fall. She had with her the sandwiches we asked for, along with some chips. Setting them down, she sat down next to me as everyone else still took some time to process the information.

"How did you guys find all this out? I doubt it came up in just normal conversation," asked Jasper. So I told them the story of what happened the night of the bonfire and the following day, and they congratulated me on finding my imprint. Leah didn't know if Kanti was hers yetm but she hoped to find out soon.

Rosalie still seemed upset, but hopefully seeing Malila around at school and knowing she was safe would make her feel better.
