Hello :)
It's been FOREVER since I updated this story. Unfortunately, this will be the LAST chapter of this story. I started writing this story in 2012 and now it's 2016, I finished my A-levels and graduated from university; during that time my view has changed and so is my style of writing. I am sincerely sorry for leaving you all hanging off like this.
Hope this chapter isn't too cliff-hanging!
Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.
What, what, what, what, what, what?:
Time really does fly for Sirius.
By the time he realised how much time has passed, Remus John Lupin was walking away from him with his back turning to face him; once again.
For God's sake! The boy was just walking back to his dormitory and why the hell does it pained him so much to see such sight?
Sirius blamed this odd feeling on loading himself with such amount of work that normal people would takes at least a week to get it done last night and decided to get into the car, he made a note to himself to come and pick Remus up one last time on Friday.
In fact, the boy's exam finish tomorrow but Remus doesn't' want to rush home so he insisted on staying another night at his school.
"I can't wait to see him again." Sirius knew he was impatiently counting down a day to meet Remus again, he just wanted the boy to be in his sight and near him. Still, Sirius could not found a reason to explain this feeling when it comes to Remus; he just knew that it was getting stronger each day.
Of course, Sirius blamed it on being overworked again. Then he realised that he was talking to himself just now.
Great, he probably overworked to the extreme last night.
Even he had his back turned against the man, Remus still felt the pair of grey eyes watching him intensely as he walked back to his dormitory.
That made his cheeks turned crimson. Remus inhaled slowly, trying to calm himself down while walking slowly back into the sixth form's building with the awareness of being watch by his adopter.
He had, surprisingly, made it back to his dormitory without tripping in front of Sirius.
Once inside his small cozy bedroom, the blonde boy sat on his small bed and sighed, hand rose up to massage his temple.
This is getting worse, he told himself. Nowadays, Remus barely made eye contacts when he was involved in a conversation, let alone being near him. It just made he lost control over himself and the next thing Remus realised was that he was stuttering embarrassingly.
What is wrong with him?
This week gave him too much things to think about. First of all, the most important thing right now is the English Literature exam tomorrow – the last exam Remus has; secondly is Rosaline and her terrifying mysterious plan; and lastly is this weird feeling that kept bothering him since the first day Sirius became his adopter.
"I can't think about those two last things now." He told himself, "I got my exam tomorrow and I cannot fail it."
Yeah, reading all his English's note would kept him preoccupied and stop thinking about the other things...that would keep him going until tomorrow.
Then Remus would be left with the remaining problems once gain.
Sirius was now fully convinced that he was working too much the last two nights. Last night, he overworked until three in the morning and would not stop if Rosaline didn't come him and scowled at him for staying up too late.
'Or else you wouldn't wake up to drive me to school then, old man' that was her reason for visiting her adopter at night yet there was a hinted of worry in her voice which she would never admit it.
He never knew that overworking could cause a person to be hallucinating, Sirius only overworked to keep himself occupied from having those odd feelings. Yet the result of overworking two nights in the rolled was that everywhere Sirius went, he saw Remus doing things he did in his routine. It was just Remus in his memory not a real Remus though.
Somehow, Sirius felt disappointed.
Why Remus of all people? This was the question that has been lasting in his mind since he did that test Rosaline gave him. It could have been his butler like Chopin or an opposite sex like Sioned. Hell, it could have been Padfoot, a dog which he claimed to be the love of his life.
Well, used to now.
Even Sirius himself doesn't even know why, it just seemed that the title love of his life had suddenly vanish from his dog as soon as the children stepped into his life. To be precise, as soon as he met Remus.
"Damn," Sirius sighed in frustration, he kept having this odd feeling since the first day he knew Remus. To make matter worse, this feeling just kept growing stronger and stronger until Sirius feeling like himself exploding.
"I act like I really like him."
Wait…what?
Then it clicked.
The way he felt, behaved even, towards Remus was different from the other. He only watched Romulus when the boy was playing in fear that the boy might trip over or run into something, he will never watch Rosaline even when the girl wasn't paying attention to him, or not because she might call him stalker.
Sirius Black only had his eyes set on the eldest of the three, even when the blonde boy was preoccupied with something else to notice. He just never gets bored of watching Remus all day.
He love being near him. Sirius still remember when the four of them were watching a show on television, he reluctantly allowed Romulus to sit on his laps so that Sirius would sat next to Remus.
In such a short period of time, he managed to have a special feeling for the boy.
"Fuck!" He swore loudly, Sirius hardly swore – only when he was in a mood of exasperation. Which he was right now, yes he like Remus…he really, really likes the boy. Love him even.
But Remus is a child under his care, what's more is that Remus John Lupin is a boy! This is just wrong!
Sirius's grey eyes widen in pure horror. This is terribly wrong! This cannot have happened! He has to stop right now.
But he really loves Remus, and it pained him to stop loving the boy.
"I need some advise!" The man shouted and was answered with the silence filling in the room. Sighing, Sirius stood up and made his way out of the room with determination to get this issue solved.
Of course, there was only one person whom he believed could give him the best solution.
For a second time of the day, Sirius Black could not believed that from all of the people whom he believed could give him the best advice over this love issue it turned out to be the person whom he never thought it would be.
Rosaline.
His insane adopted daughter.
He sighed in exasperation at himself yet kept walking; it was about four in the evening so the school just ended. Sirius could felt the students eyeing him with curiosity everywhere he walked, he always the center of the attention everywhere he goes due to his good looks.
The man ignored all those admiration looks from the girl and a jealous look from the boy and continued in his search for Rosaline...
Fortunately his quest ended when Sirius saw a familiar figure walked out of one of the classroom.
"Rosaline!" he called out the name and the girl winced. The said girl stood frozen a moment before slowly turned her head to where the noise came from, her grey eyes widen in shocked as if she just saw something very scary…something like her very own old man in front of her, in her school.
Before Sirius could make a move or even let out another words, his adopted daughter pointed a finger at him and shrieked in a very un-lady like style.
"Fuck! Old man!" the next thing he knew was his adopted daughter turning her back toward him and started sprinting down the corridor. Sirius's eyes widen in a reaction he received before started following her as well.
To hell with manner in school.
"Oi! Rosaline!" he heard the girl squeaked yet she still continue running, students were stepped aside making ways for the infamous genius yet mischief girl who was running away from a handsome stranger.
"Rosaline Alixa Black!" Ahhh! How on earth does this girl managed to run so fast and her speed still stay constantly without dropping? Damn, Sirius felt so unfit right now.
"Pedo! Pedophile!" Sirius frowned at his given nickname, since when did he become a pedophile? Oh yes he forgot, since Rosaline said it.
"Rosaline! Hey!"
"Help!" can this girl get any more maniac than this? Sirius wondered if she would act the same if Regulus happens to show up in Rosaline's school without telling his own daughter about it.
Sirius noticed that as they were chasing down the corridor, students were staring at them with some amused expression rather than a horror one like Sirius did. Hell, he even heard them cheering her and booing him as though they were enjoying the show.
So they were used to this kind behaviour of Rosaline after all, eh?
"That was to be expected." Sirius heard the younger years talking as he jumped down the stairs.
"Yeah, this is actually the best prank Rosaline pulled out so far in this term."
"In her five years in this school, in fact."
"Yeah."
Did his adopted daughter's wildness have so much impact on students in this school? Sirius really thought so.
The next thing he knew was that they were now out of the school's building and was running around the football pitch with students watching them from the building and the pitch.
"Pedophile!" Rosaline shrieked before ran into a big man who was watering a flower near by, judging from what he did that man is probably the school's gardener.
Whom Rosaline happened to be so closed to.
"Philips! Pedophile at twelve o'clock!" The said man winced and turned his head to the given direction whilst Rosaline ran and hid behind his back, panting hard.
The gardener, Philip, walked toward Sirius who finally got a chance to stopped and was not breathing for air like there was no tomorrow.
"You." He pointed his finger at Sirius, "Pedophile! How dare you showed yourself in this school? You filthy!"
"I am not a Pedophile!" Sirius yelled while taking a step back, knowing what was coming next.
"Hey, old man." That wicked girl said from behind the boxer, a satisfaction smirk on her face, "Have I ever told you that our Philips here is also a boxer?"
Fuck.
Sirius mentally and sarcastically thanked her for informing him. Remus used to told him that Rosaline could be very extremely evil sometimes, Sirius would made sure to tell Remus that he has witnessed her so call evilness as he has been the victim of it.
But first, he had to survive from being punch by the boxer first.
"That was one hell of exercise, eh old man?"
Sirius scowled.
Rosaline sniggered.
Philip the Boxer (and Gardener) winced. The poor man was standing next to their table with an apologetic look.
"Blame it all on my short eyes sight that I had mistaken my guardian for a Pedophile." Sirius gasped, that's not even true! No one would believe a word from this girl right?
The school's gardener smiled and muffled her hair, "You better wear glasses then, the sooner the better."
Sirius's jaw dropped in shock. That…that guy who was chasing him around the football pitch for more than five laps simply believed Rosaline?! Just like that?
"Oh indeed I will. My good old man will make sure I get one."
"That's a relief to here. We don't want this incident to repeat it again do we?"
"Absolutely not. I'm sorry for troubling you again."
"Don't worry my dear, I haven't ran this much since I won the provincial boxing competition when I was in my A2, felt like I was back on training again." Sirius watched the boxer walked out of the café near the school with disbelief evidently showed on his face.
"What?" Rosaline snapped, bringing her old man back to reality. She smirked again when the man who was sitting in front of her frowned in annoyance, "treated that prank as a welcome present to my school then."
"You wish." He retorted back and ran a hand through his dark hair, this was indeed the worst day of his life so far.
First thing in the morning, being hallucinating by Remus which made him realised his love for the boy. Sadly, Sirius cannot found a way to solve this love issue of his. Then…just now, he was chasing after his own adopter daughter, who was calling him a pedophile, down the school's corridor and being chase after by a national boxer champion this year.
His first impression on people in this school failed miserably. Many thanks to the girl in front of him for ruining it.
What a bitch.
"So, what made you decided to come to my school? Surely you just don't felt like driving and pick me up, are you?" Sirius put aside all his nasty comments about the said girl for what she had done that was lining up in his mind. Firstly, he was gonna seek an advice from her and secondly, evil or not, she is Remus's sister.
Rosaline listened to every single word, nodding at some point gesturing the speaker that she still paying attention to it whilst eating an ice-cream.
When Sirius told Rosaline about his feeling for Remus, he expected the girl to throw out every swear words that exist in this world, accusing him for hitting on her beloved brother and try to strangle him because of it.
What Sirius didn't expect was that she looked totally surprised and remained quiet throughout.
"Fuck," was the first word that came out of her lips.
"Yeah, I know it was pretty fucked up." Sirius allowed himself to swore over this topic, and it seemed that the girl understood him pretty well as she did not glared at him for using such foul language. Or maybe they both were alone and did not have Remus and Romulus with them so there were no needs to worry about choosing a word to say.
"I didn't expect you to be the first one to figure it out, you know? To be honest, I was completely caught off guard by it" This time it was Sirius's turn to be startled. "What do you mean? Did you…"
Rosaline shut him up with a glared of irritation and continued to where she was left of, "I knew you love my brother, for quite a long time now."
"What are you? A Stalker?" The girl smirked, "I preferred to be call an observer rather than a stalker, thank you very much."
Sirius scowled at her, "yeah right."
"I knew you would come to me when you found out what your true feeling was." Sirius raised his eyebrow questioningly and teased, "what happen if I say no?"
"Oh come on! Please do remind me what are the Rules of Rosaline again?" Sirius rolled his eye in exasperation, not this again. Damn, that girl always knows how to get back at him.
"First rule…? Old man?" Sirius growled, but obeyed anyway. If he doesn't…then his adopted daughter would probably make sure that he will not see the light for the rest of the day, week, or month. Having been accused as a pedophile in the school full of children was enough for him.
"Arghh, fine. Rosaline is always right." The said girl beamed proudly, Sirius glared at her.
"Second rule?"
"If you don't understand it, please see rule number one." As soon as he finished the so-called Rules of Rosaline, Sirius was rewarded with a smirk.
"See? I'm a genius."
"Riiiiiight." Sirius Black didn't buy it, obviously.
Rosaline just rolled her eyes and let it aside, seeing as if both of them still continue with this childish argument this old man's issue wouldn't get anywhere near satisfaction.
"So, are you gonna tell my brother how you feel about him?" Sirius's eyes widen in shock upon hearing what the girl just said, surely he wasn't expect that.
Okay, he was expecting Rosaline to throw a tantrum, beat him up even, since the girl seems to be so overly protective of her elder brother so much that sometimes it annoys Sirius. What he had not expected, however, was for the girl to just simply ask his next plan of action as if she was commenting about how fine the weather was.
"Wait…you're not…mad?" Much to the elder man's surprise, Rosaline just raised her eyebrow, "Why should I?"
"You are overprotective of him and so I thought you would be yelling at me when you find out about this…because this kind of thing is just wrong." Once again, the girl just stared at him like he just grown another head.
"Why is it wrong?"
"Because I'm his adopted father?" It came out as a question rather than an answer. Of course, Sirius was very much aware of his and Remus's position, but something deep down in his mind just simply told him to bugger it off.
"Yeah? So?" But before Sirius could came up with another reason of why liking his very own adopted son was wrong, Rosaline cut him off.
"You sound like you were trying to convince yourself why you shouldn't like my brother. But you already like him aren't you? So why in denial? Nothing is wrong with love even if it's some sort of incestuous or homosexual, you can't stop people from falling in love, right?"
"Yeah…but Remus is…"
"Have you forgotten that Rem is not related to you by blood?"
"Still, I'm too old for him…"
"Shut it old man, you are, in fact, only twenty-five and Rem is eighteen. If my math still good, that's make you guys only eight years apart."
"Only?"
Rosaline nodded, "Only".
"Wouldn't that make me a pedophile then?"
"Don't worry old man, you are already been labeled as pedophile." Sirius scowled at her in annoyance as the girl dissolved in a very un-lady like laughter, guffawed more like.
It took the only girl in the Black remaining sibling a few minutes for her to calm down, much to Sirius's dismay.
"Anyway, back to the matter at hands, old man." The seriousness that painted across the girl's face told Sirius very well that Rosaline Alixa Black had just pushed all joking aside.
"I really love Rem like he is my own brother, you know? As much as I hate to say this but I had stalked – observed, how you behaved around Rem and you both are just perfect together. And I just want Rem to be happy, he deserves to be happy and I believe that you can make him happy."
For the first time in his entire life, Sirius Black just sat there, speechless. His mind, on the other hand, was working on every word, translating thing it over and over again.
Seeing as her old man had allowed time for her words to sink in, Rosaline chose this chance to continue, "I don't care if you are his adopted father and too old to be involve in this relationship. Hell, even if Rom is in my shoe I bet he wouldn't mind. I love Rem too much to see him hurt."
Finally, when Sirius's mind registered what was being said, this amazing (as if he would tell Rosaline out loud) adopted daughter of his doesn't mind her old man falling in love with her dear brother. Sirius felt relief spread through him at this knowledge; at least his daughter was on his side.
Somehow, Sirius even felt that somewhere up there, Regulus was smiling and nodding in acceptance.
I wish you all a good luck in life :)
