Chapter 6

The night wind was crisp even though he couldn't feel the cold like other people could. He decided to take a walk around the farm hoping that the complete jumble in his head would clear.

Mrs Kent ready to become his mother.

Clarks eagerness to take him to Jor-El.

The escalating situation with Chloe.

He had found himself restocking the stables for the horses as his thoughts dwelled on the latter of his ongoing problems. He would just think of Chloe and all his problems no matter how big would fade away. But yet what was the feeling he had deep inside he still had no idea what it had to do with her.

Yet there was that brief moment 4 weeks ago he knew what it was. The moment that Chloe had what she had called "laid one on me". But what brief kiss he felt completely whole, however that feeling was now gone sadly ripped away from his soul.

One of the horse's who was called Tyson bristled across his shoulder. Realizing he had ignored and daydreamed long enough as he gave Tyson a carrot for his patience with him and slowly petted his head as it fed.

"I wish my life was as free as yours boy" Adam spoke to the horse but not expecting a response.

"Iff it were all that easy" a voice he thankfully realized it wasn't Tyson as he turned to realize it was someone he didn't expect at all.

"Lana…" Adam said with surprise.

Lana at first was surprised herself to find it wasn't Clark in the stables but they looked shockingly alike she struggled to tell the difference between the two in the dark.

"Hey Adam…" She said approaching him realizing his surprise at seeing as she continued.

"…Didn't mean to make you jump" she giggled.

Adam knew there was going to be any help with his socializing skills this time.

"Of course not…How are you?"
Lana smiled cheerfully realizing that she only ever met Adam a few times in the month after her billionaire boyfriend nearly ran over him in there first encounter. Chloe of course filled in the blanks which she found funny as it was obvious Chloe had a strong crush on Adam. Realizing she was taking a little longer to answer she replied.

"I'm fine, Lex is great…he has been asking about you."

Adam remembered Lex had been trying to make arrangements to meet him through his busy work life at Luthorcorp.

"Tell Lex I'm sorry its just with…" he tried to explain but Lana interjected.

"Hey no need to explain yourself Adam your adjusting to your new life…" Lana couldn't help but tease in the conclusion.

"…And a hot date with my best friend"

Adam immediately took a heavy gulp what is it about dates that humans were so idealistic he thought he slowly nodded trying to hide himself from blushing.

"Well I hope you can handle Chloe on the dance floor she can be quite a fire-cracker"

"Dance?" Is all that the confused Kryptonian could say back to petit brunette.

Lana was confused by his blunt response but then put two and two together.

"Adam…have you ever danced with a girl before"

His silence to the question confirmed the answer.

Lana felt sorry for him as she could feel the frustration through his hitched breath.

"I'm worried I will disappoint her…" Adam whispered with more meaning than he realized.

Lana approached him and put him a reassuring smile she had to keep reminding herself that this was not her ex boyfriend.

"You can never disappoint her Adam…she would be stupid to let you go" Lana now was realized she was saying more than she should.

Adam just remained silent looking at her and slightly nodded.

"I tell you what…why don't you let me help you" Lana said putting her hands on her hips.

"How?" Adam responded by crossing his arms awaiting Lana's response.

"You don't know this but I am a great dancer…maybe I could teach you some moves"

"Lana…I'm not to sure…"

Just as she was about to reason with his new found yet familiar stubbornness a song echoed through the barn.

And they say that a hero can save us.
I'm not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold on to the wings of the eagles.
Watch as we all fly away.

Adam looked perplexed as Lana did for a moment and when Adam didn't react immediately Lana looked at his jeans pocket to notice that there was distinctive lights and vibration along with the famous Chad Kroeger classic song.

Lana tried to cough to grab his attention but when he didn't move to react she felt a rush of blood go to her head and grabbed for Adam's phone is his jeans pocket.

When her hand slipped into Adam's jeans pocket he immediately felt uncomfortable.

What they both didn't realize Lana's fingers had slipped onto the accept call button on Adam's phone and Chloe who was the recipient of the call went to say hi to Adam when she heard a conversation already in place.

"Lana why is your hand in my pants" was a nervous voice belonging to Adam.

"I'm trying to get it out…god its stuck" was the voice a struggling Lana.

Chloe was just left speechless as she continued to here the conversation.

"Great now my wedding rings got caught in it"

"Erm…let me help you with that"

"Ouch…I think I broke a nail pulling it out…here you go"

Adams voice came clearer over the speaker.

"Erm…Hello" he said sheepishly.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OVER THERE!" Chloe screamed over her receiver.
