CHAPTER 13

Clark was sitting on the staircase of the barn dialing the number he had tried over twenty times in a matter of hours but over the phone came the familiar voice echoing over the speaker.

"The number you are calling is currently unavailable"

Which meant that Adam had turned his phone off, for the main reason to ignore his calls Clark bemoaned.

"Hello Clark…" said a voice from the barn door. Clark body tensed as that voice always did, the illusiveness and disconcerting trust of the voice of Lionel Luthor.

Clark stood up and made his way down the staircase and slowly approached the senior Luthor.

"Lionel…" Clark spoke hesitantly as the two shared a strict hand shake.

Lionel sighed knowing all to well the tension between the Kents and Luthors but now this was a lot more than family squabbles. It was now the fact that Lionel was now aware of Clark's secret and also that Jor-El had chosen Lionel to be the host of his remaining presence that lay in the Fortress for whenever he needed to be present.

Even though it had been some time since Jor-El had made an appearance through Lionel it still left Clark feeling uneasy the fact that Lionel knew the truth.

"I know you think my presence here is unwise Clark…" Lionel began to which Clark still staring trying to probe any tricks behind the older mans façade.

"…but I assure you I only wish to help you" Lionel concluded stepping closer for reassurance but Clark stepped back as he replied.

"You only help others when you get something in return." Clark said rather harshly.

"Think whatever you believe, but as I've told you before…I've changed" Lionel said as he folded his hands behind his back as he continued.

"But this isn't about you and me Clark…this is about your brother"

Clark immediately flinched at that sentence as he didn't think Lionel would be so open at knowing the full extent of the situation with Adam but then realized the reason why.
"I see your connection to Jor-El is still in affect." Clark spoke cautiously.

Lionel walked to Clark's side as he replied.

"Your Father's connection to myself can vary from time to time…but the knowledge of Tor-El's existence has only became aware to me in the past few weeks which I presume is when your brother arrived from the phantom zone"

Clark immediately replied raising his tone.

"It seems you have a lot more information on my brother than you first led to believe?"

"The only information I truly can relay…is how your father regrets what has happened to Tor-El, the depths he had to take to give his son a fighting chance to live" Lionel said with a tingle of emotion to it.

Clark and Lionel remained silent for a moment reflecting those words.

"That is why Jor-El has sent me Clark…" Lionel continued.

"…he wants to give Adam the best chance of starting a normal life like you did…that is why I contacted your mother because his feelings are running through me as we speak…it sounds ironic but I feel that all Jor-el wants his son to forgive him"

Clark was speechless even with Lionel's mistrust he had never expected Jor-el or Lionel to be so compassionate about there cause.

"All I ask Clark is to meet Adam face to face and tell him this myself"

Clark stepped forward realizing the trump card Lionel had just lay.

"No…that's not a good idea"

"Why?"

"Because I don't think Adam is ready to here what Jor-El or you have to say yet…"

Lionel then hit a stinging truth which hit Clark like a kryptonian ton of bricks.

"That is not your decision to make Clark…It is Adam's"

At that point they could here footsteps approaching from the entrance of the barn as Clark looked to see his mother approaching.
"Lionel…" Martha greeted him as he turned and gave her a courteous kiss on the cheek.

"Looking wonderful as ever Martha" Lionel smiled which made Clark sick to his stomach as he hated Lionel when ever he paid a compliment like that to his mother.

"So I hope I wasn't interrupting anything?" Martha queried looking at the two men with skeptical glances.

Clark and Lionel shook heads in denial of anything off the sort.

That's when Lionel decided to get straight to buisiness.

"So may I ask were is the young man I am eager to meet."

When Clark didn't respond his mother stepped in-front of her son with concern.

"Clark…has Adam not come home yet?"

When her son did not respond immediately she was going to press the issue when Clark's cell rang which he immediately picked it up without looking at the caller id.

"Adam were are you?" Clark said more harsh than he meant for it to sound. But the reply wasn't who he was expecting.

"No CK its Jimmy" Jimmy shouted over the loud thumping beat of the speakers which he couldn't escape.

"Jimmy I can barely hear you…is everything alright?"

"That's the thing Clark its not!" Jimmy shouted showing his confusment in his tone.

"What's wrong?" Clark now using his super hearing to pick up Jimmy's voice so he can hear every detail his friend was speaking from the receiver.

"Its not what…Its who…"

"Jimmy I don't understand…"

"CLARK IT'S A…." Then the line went dead on Clarks end.

Jimmy noticed the dead tone and notice the service was to weak to continue the conversation. He had to warn Clark and also the fact that the atmosphere in the club had died down, probably due to the fact that Adam, Chloe and Lois had disappeared into the night there destination unknown.

Back at the farm Clark tried redialing Jimmy's cell but to no avail as it went to voicemail.

"Clark what on earth was that all about" Martha approached her son with concern. But Clark looked as confused as Jimmy sounded on the phone.

"I have no idea" Clark said bluntly.

After a few moments it was Lionel Luthor who then spoke next.

"I think were about to find out…"

Not a second passed as a distant raw and a hard screech of tires and the barn doorcame smashing open and a black Lamborghini murcielago came to abrupt holt in front of them as smoke from the tires created a large smoke cloud around the area.

Waiting for the smoke to clear Clark Martha and Lionel could hear giggling which turned to laughter which they all found for familiar.

"Damn…got to learn to stop" A new confident voice also spoke through the smoke as it cleared.

Clark squinted his eyes and had to check what he was seeing and hearing as Martha and Lionel also took a step forward to see to believe.

With one hand draped around Lois and the other around Chloe, Adam looked smugly at Clark and said with a wink.

"Hey Bro…You miss me"
