Author's note: Oh my god, I heavily apologize for updating for so long...I will perform seppuku as an apology but I'm too much of a coward to do it, lol. But again, I apologize that I have left for so...long. And on another note, I decided that this fanfic would be yaoi-free. You can make up your own hint or whatever, but there won't be yaoi. I want to concentrate on the brothers, lol. I apologize (once again) for the people who have voted T_T but don't worry! I'll be writing other fanfics and you can suggest any popular pairing to the most crack pairing. Anyways, here's chapter nine and enjoy~

CHAPTER NINE

By the time Yukio got to the dining room, his younger brother was already by the table, awake and waiting for him to start breakfast. The older Kasamatsu felt his face heat up and his heart swell in the sweet action, not believing how close they were becoming in short time. He sat beside the teal haired teen and muttered a good morning. Tetsuya greeted back his older brother and thanked for the food as their mother placed their food on the table. The two of them quietly ate their breakfast, as Tetsuya had long given up protesting against his brother's routine of putting more food on his plate and just continue to eat everything. It's better than being force fed, after all. Nigou was happily eating his breakfast on one corner.

"See you two later!" Manami kisses both of her son's foreheads, before she gathered her things and leaves the house. The two teens waved goodbye to their mother before they continued to eat their breakfast.

Once the brothers have finished their breakfast (Tetsuya is now having an easier time to eat more thanks to Yukio's resolve in getting him to gain more weight), they washed and dried the dishes before they left the house to walk to school. Nigou barked goodbye to his two masters, before running upstairs to Tetsuya's room.

As usual, the two of them walked in silence.

It's only been less than a week and Tetsuya was already used to their routine. At first, he doubted that he would get used to be living in the same house as his step-father and step-brother but surprisingly, everything went smoothly since the first night he spent in the new house. He also clearly remembered the day when his mother told him that she was dating someone, he supported her right away, but not without investigating the man first. To his shock, it was Kasamatsu-senpai's father, Kasamatsu Yuuta. Tetsuya wasn't sure how to react once he and the Kaijou Captain would finally meet as soon-to-be brothers. Thankfully, their first meeting as brothers wasn't as awkward as he thought. To be honest, the older Kasamatsu was, is, extra nice to him and he appreciate all the things that Yukio does for him. He never thought that he would one day liked to be…be pampered or be spoiled by anyone. He doesn't even let his mother spoil him (except when he was younger). Tetsuya almost blushed at the thought. It was very out of character of him to be wishing something so selfish. He was more like the type of person who is simply satisfied with simple actions of affection. Like a good morning or a hello or just by simply being noticed. But Yukio went beyond those and Tetsuya had gotten…attached to him.

"KASAMATSU-SENPAAAAAI!" a familiar, loud voice called out from afar.

Tetsuya nearly turned red as he rouse from his reverie, embarrassed by his thoughts.

Both Kasamatsu teens looked back to see a certain blonde running towards them covered in sunshine.

And both watched in amusement as the blonde ran past them as a horde of girls ran after him. They both knew that he intended to walk with them towards school only to run for his life (and chastity). Both brothers blinked at each other and laughed as they continued to walk towards the school.

"Go home without me for today…we'll be practicing late." Yukio said as he patted his younger brother's hair, careful not to mess the teal locks. He intentionally did not mention that they were going to be practicing late for Inter High, knowing that it would remind the younger teen of his former team mates.

Tetsuya nodded before he stepped inside his classroom. Before he closed to door, he gave a wave goodbye to his brother then goes to his seat. He watched his brother wave back at him then walks towards his own classroom.

In the third year's classroom, Yukio wrote down notes from the previous class as his friend sitting behind him bothered him for lunch. He ignored his friend, seeing as he was close in finishing writing down his notes. Moriyama must have been rejected by every girl in class to eat lunch with him and is now bothering him to go with him to eat. He turned to his friend with a smirk.

"What, no one said yes today?"

For that, he got a bump on his head but gave Moriyama a hit on the arm. The two of them headed towards the roof, where they usually spend their lunch time when Moriyama has no luck in getting to have lunch with a girl (which was most of the time).

Yukio found his step-mother's cooking refreshing. He used to be the one who made his bento since his father had no time making one (and he would rather make his own than to make his father do it when he's already dead tired from work). But ever since Manami and his father got together, not only did their house have gotten livelier, his father is able to come home for dinner and is able to smile more. And not only that, he gets a younger brother to look out for.

"So Yuki, how does it feel like having a younger brother?" Moriyama asked as he laid his empty bento on the floor, wiping his mouth with a spare tissue.

The other was still eating, savoring the food that tastes hundred times better than his cooking. "Tetsuya's the model for a perfect younger brother."

Moriyama raised a brow with an amused look. Both of them grew up together in the same neighborhood and both of them are the only child in their family, so they treated each other like brothers. That time, Kasamatsu used to play baseball and they used to argue on which sport was better. It made him incredibly sad and lonely when they had moved away. He had lost his brother and closest friend. Imagine how happy he was when they had moved back to Kanagawa, albeit not in the same neighborhood as Kasamatsu but at least they attend the same school! What made it all the more exciting is that Kasamatsu was trying out for the basketball club. And they both became basketball regular players throughout their entire high school. This is their last year being on the same team. It made him happier when he heard his father had remarried and gained a step-brother, but that surprised him was that the woman Uncle Yuuta had married was the Phantom Sixth Man's mother. That would mean that the phantom would become Yuki's younger step-brother. The first thing he thought that he would tease Yuki about it, but lately, for the past few days, he saw how happy his childhood friend was, taking care of the little phantom. Seeing his friend so happy made him happy too. And now he's curious as to how the two spend their time with each other. Hearing the other say that the teal haired teen is the model for a perfect younger brother, Moriyama suddenly wanted to go have a sleepover to see for himself.

"He doesn't make so much noise, he's easy to take care of, he's polite and he could be adorable at times too." Yukio gave a satisfied sigh as he placed his bento down as well, finished with his meal. He's pretty much looking forward to lunch every day now.

The other laughed. Indeed, Kuro-Kasamatsu (Moriyama mentally corrected) Tetsuya sound like the perfect younger brother. For Yuki, that is. He knew how short-tempered his friend is and how annoyed he gets easily.

Kise has a hard time going to school, be in school, and going out of school. There would be girls chasing him everywhere, asking for a picture, or an autograph, or a date. The only times he get some peace are during classes or during practice (though, it doesn't stop some girls trying to watch but they were easily scared of the captain so it was at least bearable). He sometimes dreaded going to school because once he steps out of the safety of his home, he would be in plain sight and girls would start chasing him.

But all these difficulties were blown away when he heard that Kurokocchi was transferring to Kaijou. He thanked the heavens that he's finally being able to spend some time with the person who taught him passion for basketball. Although the teal haired male wasn't planning on joining the team but they belong to the same class and he even sits right behind him! The blonde honestly missed being with the Generation of Miracles, and really wondered what exactly went wrong. Sure, they became so strong that basketball became boring, but they could've still…gotten along. But he knew that no matter what he'll do, their relationship with one another won't be the same again. Kurokocchi is the proof of that. He was the one who tried to keep the team together despite the fact that…that all of them severed their bonds with each other when they realized that they're too strong to actually make effort.

Once he realized what he had done…what they had done…it was all too late. Kurokocchi was out of his reach and he has no idea where he had gone to, giving him no chance to apologize to the other.

But this time, this time would be different. He would be there for his friend and he will make sure that what happened before won't happen again.

"Kurokocchi~ let's go have lunch together." The blonde asked with a smile.

And to his surprise, the other smiled back "Okay."

Things are just getting better for Kise.

Kise politely asked the girls that he needs some time for himself, and is glad that they understood how hard it is to be able to move when he's constantly being followed around. So, finally have some freedom, he took the teal haired male to the infirmary where he usually hides when he's chased by girls. Sure it was weird to eat in an infirmary but it's actually a neat place. And the nurse there is extra-nice (and plus points since she's not a fan) and lets him stay there to hide.

"Kise-kun, where are we going?" Tetsuya asks.

"Ah, to the infirmary! The nurse there is really nice and the view outside is nice too!"

As soon as the two arrived at the infirmary, the nurse looks up and understands once she saw who was standing by the door.

Sumizome smiles at the blonde "Come inside Kise-kun, before the girls sees you. And don't forget your usual payment." She jokes.

Kise laughs as he entered the room, Tetsuya following suit. "You don't mind if I brought a friend along?"

The woman looked at the teen with a confused look "You brought a friend? Where…" this felt like a sudden Déjà vu for her.

"Good day Sumizome-san." Tetsuya politely greeted the woman, who in return nearly choked on her own saliva. She coughed to gain control of her breathing then turned to the apparition-like teen. She smiled.

"Good day to you too Tetsuya-kun. I didn't know that you and Kise-kun know each other."

"Ah, we were team mates back in middle school! I didn't know you know Kurokocchi too Sumizome-san." The blonde said as he took his usual seat. The teal haired teen followed suit, sitting in the opposite direction of the other.

"Maa, you know procedures for the uniform are here. It was cute how Kasamatsu-kun accompanied him and gave him a tour around the school. The two of you get along so well." She mentioned to Tetsuya. The teal haired male teen smiled at the remark.

'Kurokocchi is smiling more and more lately…he doesn't even smile that often back in middle school. Having Kasamatsu-senpai as his brother must have something to do with it.' Kise thought as he dug into his bento. Ever since he started his modeling career, he didn't dare to go to the school cafeteria, knowing that it would be full of girls who would chase him the entire lunch period. And he has no plans on starving, thank you very much. The blonde noticed how much food there was on the other's bento and wondered when the teal haired male have started to have such packed lunch. Before it used to be in small portions (he sometimes only had sandwiches for lunch). But he's glad that the other had started to eat in large portions, but he wondered how. Then it clicked. It must be Kasamatsu-senpai. The senior has a thing for a health and he's sure he's seen how the other ate (they live in the same place now, after all) and trained him to eat in larger portions.

Tetsuya was quiet most of the time, but he was surely listening to what the blonde was saying the whole time. He remembered how the other was like when he had first seen him. He always had a fake smile plastered on his face and he had this urge to throw basketballs at his face to wipe it off. If he didn't enjoy doing such sports, then he shouldn't just play them at all. And he saw the same problem when said blonde had joined the basketball club. He had easily passed to the first string, but not yet a regular. At that time, even Haizaki would know about passion for basketball more than Kise. So Tetsuya made sure to have Kise understand the passion for basketball. And he was glad that the other had finally understood. He watched the blonde grow; grow into an incredibly talented player that could possibly match Aomine someday.

And it hurt him to see someone who was so bright to be…so dark. He returned to that same pathetic person who used fake smiles and it hurt Tetsuya that the same person who found basketball fun…fell into that despair where he thought that he was too strong that it was boring.

So he's glad that all that is gone once again and Kise returned to the same, bright light who loves basketball.

Tetsuya gathered his things and placed them neatly inside his bag, and readied himself to go home. Kise-kun had gone ahead to the gym for basketball practice and he was half-tempted to go along as well. He really missed going to basketball practices.

And right at that moment, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Tetsuya checked his phone and was surprised to see that it was from Kagami-kun. A smile emerged on his face.

'Wanna hang out in Maji?'

The teal haired male gave a quick reply of Yes, he hurriedly walked out of the classroom and headed to the train station. He gave a quick message to his mother that he was coming home late and that he will be eating dinner outside with a friend from Seirin before buying a ticket to Tokyo.

Tetsuya ran as fast as he could, excitement pumping and heart beating fast. It was only for a few days that they had not seen each other, but for Tetsuya, it felt like weeks. And he felt like…like a kid on Christmas. So when he finally reached that burger joint where he used to hang out with his light all the time…he thought he would faint right there, right now. That was because the entire Seirin team was right there.

And as usual, they all choked in both surprise and shock. Instead of yelling at him for having such little presence, they welcomed him and hugged him. Tetsuya couldn't help but smile back.

"I'm back."

OMAKE 1:

Practice was finally over and the Kaijou regulars have hit the shower and changed back into their uniforms. Yukio was busy typing on his phone as he dried his hair. Moriyama raised a brow at his friend, finding it unusual for the other to be keeping such attention to his phone.

"Who are you texting?" he finally asks.

The captain didn't bother facing his friend as he answered "Asking Tetsuya where he is."

The rest of the team watched their captain with amusement.

Ah, getting protective already.

OMAKE 2:

"Oi Kuroko! Your phone keeps on ringing!" Kagami shoved the teal colored phone to the phantom who snatched it right away. He has an idea on who it is anyways.

"It's Yukio-san. He asked where I am right now. And it's Kasamatsu now, Kagami-kun."

The Seirin team stared at the teal haired male in amusement.

Ah, getting protective already.

Author's note 2:

Ah, here are some note/s for this chapter:

1. Yuki is a childhood nickname for Kasamatsu, lol. Moriyama seems playful enough (for me) to make up nicknames

If anyone has any questions or criticisms, feel free to do so in a review :3 Chapter ten is in the making~
