CHAPTER TEN
Tetsuya slowly opened the door to his older brother's room and quietly walked inside. Today, he had woken up earlier than Yukio and his mother had kindly asked him to wake his brother up for breakfast. The team must have practice hard. His older brother always wake up earlier than he does, after all.
As he stood before his brother, he stared in silence. He looks very peaceful and more relaxed. Sometimes the teal haired male wished that Yukio-san should relax more often when he is awake. It's not good to be always grumpy. The younger Kasamatsu poked his brother's cheek as an attempt to wake him up, but the other remained asleep. Tetsuya gives up trying to poke his brother awake as he went on shaking his brother instead. It seems to work, seeing as Yukio's eyes fluttering but to his disappointment, the other went back to sleep. The teal haired male was tempted to just tickle his brother, a revenge for the other day but refrained from doing so. His brother might not appreciate the gesture (A/N: He's just shy, lol).
Then he thought of the best idea ever.
Tetsuya knew that his brother would never give him a break for it. But this would be the most effective way to wake his brother. With an uncharacteristic smirk, he crept closer to his brother then whispered.
"Yukio-oniisan, wake up…"
That most certainly woke the other up. Yukio turned to Tetsuya with wide eyes and a shocked look. He stared at his brother as if cat ears appeared on his younger brother out of nowhere or something.
"You…say that again!"
The younger Kasamatsu raised a brow with a teasing smile "That again."
Yukio glares at his younger brother and grabbed him for a headlock "I heard what you just called me right now. I most definitely heard you call me onii-san."
"I don't know what you're saying Yukio-san."
The older Kasamatsu groaned.
As the brothers descended, Manami caught sight of her youngest baby smiling. It made her incredibly happy seeing her youngest son opening up to his new brother, meaning that the two got along very well. Tetsuya sometimes have a hard time opening up to most people and she would like to keep track of those who make him smile. She's glad that Yukio is one of those people.
"Seriously, you've already said it once, why not just call me that from now on?" the older teen complained as he sat on his usual seat. His younger brother just smirked, smirked! Tetsuya smirked. It must be a dream to see someone who's supposedly polite to be so smug and playful. Then again, he doesn't know Tetsuya that much yet. They were just starting to get comfortable with one another. But the other had just called him onii-san. He waited for so long to hear that from Tetsuya and the only time the younger had said it was when he was half-awake.
The teal haired teen quietly ate his breakfast and didn't bother reacting to his older brother putting more food on his plate. Surprisingly, he had gotten used to the portion Yukio have always given him. He also contemplated whether to start calling the older teen 'onii-san' from now on. The thought didn't make him feel as awkward as before but he thought that he should just keep his older brother annoyed for a moment.
"Hmm, what is this about?" Manami asked, suddenly curious as to why her oldest son was complaining. Besides, Tetsuya looked like he's in his mischievous mood at the moment. Yes, her baby is very polite and does not scheme such pranks but that's only most of the time. The youngest Kasamatsu sometimes have the tendency to be playful. And it seems like Yukio-kun has become one of his victims.
Yukio turned to his mother with a pleading look as if to say that he needs her on his side "He called me 'onii-san' to wake me up."
The teal haired woman resisted her urge to squeal. She has always been waiting for this day to come. For her baby to call his older brother 'onii-san' like an adorable younger brother he is! Too bad she wasn't there to witness it but just knowing that her baby finally acknowledges the thought of calling Yukio-kun his 'onii-san' is enough for Manami. She swears that someday, she will hear it for herself. "My, is that true, Tetsuya? Have you finally called Yukio-kun 'onii-san'? Try something cuter like 'onii-chan' or, or 'nii-nii'!"
The two brothers watched their mother go in LaLaLa land where she imagined both of her sons being brotherly with one another. The two teens resisted the urge to cringe; their mother looks like one of those fangirls you would normally see in anime conventions. Their father continued to read his newspaper as well, seemingly used to his wife's antics on her children. He knew that it was better to leave her be with her imagination.
It was lunch once again, and Kise is overjoyed from the fact that his former teammate is willing to have lunch with him. They headed to the infirmary once again and he gave some of his autographed pictures to Sumizome-san, as 'payment'.
"Really, thank you Kise-kun for doing this for me. You have no idea how much my daughter likes you." The woman shook her head as she placed the pictures in her bag. Sure this almost seemed like blackmailing, but she was only joking the first time she had asked the blonde to bring autographed pictures for her daughter in exchange for his stay in the infirmary every lunch. But Kise insisted that it was nothing and that it was the least he could do.
Kise waved his hand "As long as it's for Sumizome-san's daughter, I don't really mind!"
The taller teen turned to his much less presence friend "So Kurokocchi, how does it feel to have Kasamatsu-senpai as your brother?" the blonde asked. He was curious about it for a while now but he seems to always forget to ask the other. But this is chance to ask how their relationship is.
The teal haired male placed his bento on the table then turned to his friend "Yukio-san is a kind-hearted person and always look out for me. He never fails to notice me as well." That was when Tetsya realized it. His older brother never fails to notice him. At first he had a hard time seeing him, but now…it was a whole different story. Yukio didn't have any difficulty in noticing his presence anymore. Not since they started to spend so much time together. The thought almost made the teal haired male cry. His mother was the only person who could ever see him so clearly and effortlessly but now…now there's his brother too.
The blonde noticed the sudden emotion in his friend's eyes and wondered what he was thinking about. Kurokocchi hardly expressed emotions (but it didn't mean that he was cold or heartless; he was far from that) and this was the first time he saw such clear emotion swirling in those baby blue eyes. Kise was, believe it or not, good at reading other people's emotions through their eyes, but he always had a hard time knowing what the teal haired teen was feeling (same with Akashicchi too). But now, it was clear, as if some sort of barrier disappeared. He could see surprise and happiness there, and it made Kise happy that his friend was feeling happy. He gave the other a smile before saying something ridiculous about what happened in his latest photo shoot.
Before most students left the school, one particular senior asked one of the freshmen on where Kasamatsu Tetsuya was, and to his misfortune, the one he's looking for is nowhere to be found. Seriously, just how hard is it to find one freshman!
Taniyama Yukimura is the current student council president and one of his responsibilities includes handling the new students. They recently received a transfer student from Seirin High, the very same school that defeated their basketball team. Hearing the name Kasamatsu, he wondered how the freshman was related to his fellow senior who's the current basketball team captain.
"Just where in the world is that Kasamatsu Tetsuya" the senior muttered.
"Yes, senpai?" a voice answered out of nowhere.
The poor senior nearly had a heart attack. He may be a serious person, but he was easily surprised by simple things. And where the hell did this guy came from?! He just popped out of nowhere! "Are you…are you Kasamatsu Tetsuya?" Taniyama hopefully asked.
The teal haired male nodded. The senior nearly cried out of happiness.
"I was just looking for you. Anyways, I see that you haven't applied for a club yet and it's my job as the student council president to help you pick one or have you signed up somewhere. Is there any particular club that you're interested in joining, Kasamatsu-kun?"
Tetsuya was about to say 'Basketball club' out of habit, but he knew that he was not yet sure exactly as to join or not. He loves to play basketball with all his heart, but there is a promise between the Generation of Miracles – a promise where they would play against each other in different teams. Momoi-san doesn't count because she's only a manager…and Tetsuya also agree on how unfair it would be for there to be two members from the Generation of Miracles to be in the same team. Yes, it would be unfair if he was going to play…in the same team…
That's when he realized it. Akashi-kun only mentioned that they can't play in the same team as someone from the Generation of Miracle…so does that mean he could be in the same team as Kise-kun, so long as he doesn't play in the games?
"I would like to join the Basketball club, Taniyama-senpai."
Coach Genta signed a couple of papers to approve some new members for the club until Taniyama entered the room with a knock.
"Taniyama, what brings you here?" the man asked as he laid his pen back on the table.
"Coach Genta, I apologize for disturbing you but here is a late application form for your club." The senior handed the form to the man, who took it with thanks. Coach Genta's eyes widened.
Kasamatsu Tetsuya, Year I
Applying for the manager's position.
The basketball coach almost grinned. Their basketball team would surely become stronger with a new addition. Believe it or not, he was listening to all those times their blonde would prattle about the Phantom Sixth man being extremely observational and very tactical that could very well be on par with the Generation of Miracle's Captain, Akashi the Emperor. Sure, the Phantom won't be playing, but he was willing to accept any help they need to in order for the team to get stronger. Imagine what his addition to the team would result in few weeks of him being their manager? He can't wait to see what would become of his team then.
