a/n: thank you so much for your reviews. Thanks for reading. Thanks for continuing to read. I thought I'd have this done sooner, so my apologies on that. And lol at the guest who said they'd marry me if they ever saw the person who wrote this, challenge accepted.
As always,
Much love. Enjoy.
My eyes flung open like I was on high alert. Quickly, I moved about my bed. There is no one else in my bed but me. Oh thank the worlds, I am no longer in the shue. A grin found its form on my face as I fell back onto my pillow. Seriously, I never would have thought that I would be happy about this fucking bed of mine. The simple joys, I'm telling ya.
Maybe it was a dream when Lopez came into my bed last night and cuddled me to sleep. Endearingly, I might add. And I won't mention those, soft warm caressing kisses up and down my neck. But it could have been a dream, right? I was slightly mental for a week...I see no sign of her in or around my bed. I lifted my head up slightly and noticed her bed was pristinely made. Shrugging my shoulders, I indulged in my fluffy pillow and heavy blanket. Compared to the shue, I am living the five star hotel life.
"Five days in the shue and I still see that shit eating grin on that face of yours." Alex says as she stands leaning against the frame of my non-existent door with her arms folded.
I can't help but smile back at her. I have missed her voice. "You can't break this bitch." I let out with a smirk.
Alex's body reacted with shock as she comprehended my sentence, "Look...I'm really-"
Holding my hand I interrupted her, "Really sorry? For what Al? You didn't punch that crazy bitch. I did."
"I know, but like I-"
Getting up from my bed I continued to converse, "Don't sweat it. We all end up in the shue at one point or another, right? Mine was just earlier than most."
Alex opened her mouth like she was about to speak, but closed it again. Before she could gather the courage to speak again, I started to speak as I made up my bed, "And if you even try to say sorry again, I'll have to beat you up too." I turned and grinned at her.
Vause let out a chuckle and came over to help make my bed, "You know I've seen what your skinny ass can do...and I'll take that challenge. I'msorryforputtingyouinthatsituation." She didn't even take a breath between those words. Alex speedily spoke the sentence she was dying to say since she entered my cell.
Giving her a hard punch on the shoulder before I started to speak, "Hey, that wasn't even my A game. But fine Vause, I accept your apology." I'll accept defeat on this. She obviously feels bad for egging on that psychopath, so I'll just let her apologize for my actions.
"Pierce." She sarcastically addressed me, "You ready to get that grub?" She let out a light smile and a wink. Vause can tell how excited I am to scarf down Red's food. I've been eating dog food for a week, and Alex knows exactly what I've had for meals.
Walking into the lunch room, I expected all eyes to fall onto me. I was massively dreading opening the dining room doors. It feels as if I am the new kid in school starting mid semester. It's intimidating. You don't know how people will look at you, treat you, or even speak to you.
A few eyes flickered towards me, but no one seemed to care. I bounced up to the line with my tray. Closing my eyes, I smelled the air. Ah, the aroma of food. This is pathetic, I am literally salivating at the prospect of this food.
Alex hit my back with her shoulder, "Hey kid, stop smelling the roses. You're up."
Hurriedly, I shoved my tray under the glass. First plop, second plop, third plop, and yes there it is: a hard piece of bread with butter! Yes, I am this excited for a stale piece of bread. I will be picturing myself dipping it into a delicious bowl full of soup too, when I dunk it into these hard mashed potatoes.
Hairnet lingered at the end of the line for me, "Hey Red needs to see you."
Rolling my eyes at Hairnet, "No, I'm going to go eat." I started to walk away until I heard a whistle. Believe me or not, but even that whistle had a thick Russian accent. It stopped me in my tracks. I lowered my head and longingly stared at my food with pity.
"Come. We speak." She nodded towards me as she cleaned her hands on the towel that hangs from her apron.
Sighing as I walked into the back room with my tray full of hot food, which is patiently waiting to be devoured by little ole me. I began to lick my lips at the thought- focus Pierce. You are walking into an enclosed space with the Russian. Nothing good can come of this.
Stepping into the back where we had our previous meeting, I stayed silent. I wasn't going to speak first. Hell, I just wanted my fucking meal. I placed my tray onto the table that wobbled with the extra weight. My eyes scanned the room. I saw a bunch of hair-netted women forming some sort of barrier. They were blocking my exit back into the cafeteria. With a deep breath, I realized it was time to speak, "What's going on Red?"
She snickered with her back turned towards me. "How was time in box?"
"Fine." I'm annoyed, "Are we here for pleasantries? I just want to eat."
Red slowly turned around, "I just try be civil, y'know?" The intimidating Russian slowly shuffled towards me. She didn't wait for any response from me before speaking again, "Funny ting about prison- - - these walls," Red pointed with her index finger at the ceiling as she paused, "these walls can talk. And dey did."
A little lost at what this Russian was going on about, I just stood there in silence. Her thick accent topped with her inching closer to me has me lacking comprehension. If this were one of those standardized tests you are forced to take in school...I'd fail. Literally, I have no clue what this short-tempered woman is babbling about. I couldn't help but glance at my food on the table. It looked like it was getting cold. Out of the sheer want for my food, I reached out for my tray. Red smacked my hand away from my food and flipped my tray over. Wonderful.
Next thing I knew, Red had me pinned. My back was against the stainless steel countertop and she had her arms on both sides of me. I was taller than this woman, so I was looking down into her eyes. "You try sneak drugs? In my kitchen?" The Russian woman smirked at me but never broke eye contact. From under her apron she pulled out a butcher knife. Okay...where the fuck has she been keeping that? Focus. Focus-Pierce. This is no laughing matter. My smirk did find its way to my mouth, I couldn't help it.
Red shoved her body weight at me, "You find funny?" She questioned as she placed the cold steel blade on my hand.
Shaking my head from side to side, "I've been in the fucking shue!" I shouted at her.
Red covered my mouth, turned at her minions, and gave them a head nod to check the guards. This Russian cook owned this kitchen. "I uncover mouth if you no shout again." She cupped my mouth with her palm as she looked directly into my eyes. I nodded my head up and down and mumbled, "Yes."
She released my mouth and I couldn't help but wipe off the scent that lingered there. The scent of celery and onion.
"Blondie! Don't lie. You try to sell me out to creep guard." She took her butcher knife and held it to my fingers, "I give you freebie, you were desperate woman. I? Understanding woman. But now, you owe me a helluva more than one job." She dug the dull end of the butcher knife into my knuckles, "Or you lose fingers." She shrugged, "Simple as that." Her thick accent purred.
Could this day get any fucking worse? No food. My fingers on the verge of being dismembered. And I practically have a Russian dry humping me against this fucking countertop. I'm stuck in a predicament. Do I try and lie my way out of this?
"Red—I—I, didn't do shit." I held back my urge to spit on her face. She thinks she owns me now.
Red backed away from me and waved her hand at me, "You lie. You desperate woman. Get."
Whatever, I don't need this. I looked at my upside down tray full of food and then started to walk out of the kitchen. The barrier of hairnets had disappeared. It's seriously a creepy mob wife kitchen back here.
"Oh, and Blondie?"
Slowing my pace I turned an ear towards her as she spoke, "Next time one of my girls says come see me... Don't say no." She slinked into the back after she said her words.
Quickly, I walk to my lunch table. I just needed to walk as fast as I could out of that kitchen. It wasn't a pleasant first day back into the community. My ass plops down hard on the round seat next to Alex.
"Uh, Pierce, where is your food?" Alex slowly chewed her food in the side of her mouth as she questioned me.
"I wasn't hungry." That was a horrible lie. I know Alex will see right through it, but my head is still thinking about my fingers.
Alex raised a brow at me, "Bullshit." Told ya.
Rolling my eyes before I spoke, "Fine. Red took it away."
The entire table stopped eating to look over at me. They knew Red only took food away for a reason. Hell, once she took food away from Chapman for an entire fucking week just for insulting her food! After everyone made their shock eyes at me, they continued to go about their meal.
Alex leaned closer towards me and spoke loud enough only for me, "You in trouble?"
I folded my arms and exhaled deeply, "I'll figure it out," I paused, "...somehow."
Before Alex could utter another syllable, we heard Pennsatucky shouting her way closer to our table. "GOD! He speaks to me!" Ranting her religious bullshit as per usual.
I was so not in any mood for this. Closing my eyes and deeply inhaling the air around me, I prepared myself for this encounter. I had to find my calm chi. It was buried deep inside of me right now, but god damnit I am digging deep for this chi.
"Look who is out of her lesbian cage!" Pennsatucky surprisingly didn't shout, but she certainly said it loud enough for the surrounding tables to hear.
I looked at her slowly. Debating if she was worth a response. Pennsatucky bent over and spoke loudly, "Aw, where's white girl's food? Did Red take it away from you?" She laughed loudly as she looked around the lunch room. She snickered some more before she leaned in close to my ear and whispered, "What a man tells you when you suck them off." She checked my shoulder on her way back into the standing position. This little fucking bitch…my calm chi is slowly going into hibernation.
"Aw, little ole lesbian going to cry? Starve to death with no food?" Pennsatucky laughed more as she verbally berated me. She stood there hovering over me, and I was defenseless. Fuck, I just got out of the shue, I'm keeping my pretty little mouth shut. As hard as that is. I bit my lip forcefully, to ensure I couldn't say anything. She began to shout, "God! He starved for your sins!" She raised her hands up to the ceiling. The guards don't interfere with these sorts of things. They would rather watch the show until it gets physical, because only then do they have to intervene.
"Hey why don't you leave her the fuck alone?" A voice from the crowd emerged. "Should everyone know that you're locked up because some fucking nurse called your pathetic drugged up ass a whore for getting too many abortions?"
Pennsatucky stood there, speechless.
The brunette walked closer to the table where I was sitting as Pennsatucky was still hovering over me. "Leave her the fuck alone."
Her rotten teeth showed as she nervously laughed, "Or what?"
"You'll have to answer to Santana fucking Lopez and my ladies." Lopez inched closer never breaking eye contact with the religious woman. Lopez was taller and hovered over her body and forced Pennsatucky to move backwards.
"Ay! Enough, break it up ladies!" The guard clapped his hands, "Break it up!" Everyone went back to their respective tables as I sat there in awe of what just happened.
"So uh you and Lopez?" Alex choked out.
My eyes lingered towards the brunette girl walking away. I heard what Alex said, but I could barely comprehend so I blankly responded, "I'll catch you later." After I spoke, I stood up and walked out of the cafeteria feet behind Lopez. The bell rang and everyone started to scamper off to the garbage bins. Some girls were already walking out of the doors to their work detail. Needless to say, I was lost in the crowd. That's okay, I know where she sleeps. That is if she decides to speak to me.
With a weird feeling running throughout my veins I walked towards my new work detail. Where I will be playing with hammers and screw drivers. Whatever you do in shop. I was feeling a bit off not walking side by side with Vause to work detail. But I must say, thank the Lord that I do not have to go see Pennsatucky in that laundry room. My calm chi has yet to find the surface.
As I enter wood shop I see a few familiar faces, one being my awesome cellmate Lopez. As I started to walk towards her I was cut off by Chapman, "Hey! Come sit over here, glad to be off laundry?" She sat there with her puppy eyes as she waited for me to take a seat next to her.
"Thrilled." I paused looking over at Lopez still. My mind was all sorts of distracted. "So, what do you know about Lopez?" I asked Chapman, while my eyes never left the brunette.
Chapman answered slowly, "Um, well-rumor is she killed someone to land in here. No clue why, I'd stay away from her, she scares the shit out of me." Chapman paused for a moment, "And frankly, everyone else in here."
"Mmmm." I nodded mindlessly. The combination of last night's events and today's events, has me weirdly obsessing about her. She's this mystery. Like she's this hard bitch but I've been privy to see the soft side.
"So you're going to want to check out the tools from the girl behind the fence and I hear your Lopez's wife." Chapman casually slipped into her sentence.
My eyes were torn away from the girl and I looked to my right at Chapman, "Wait, what now?"
Chapman laughed out, "Um yeah, the lunch room…everybody's talking about it."
Rolling my eyes, "What about tools now?" I looked around, "What the fuck do we do in here?"
"We fix electrical boxes and rebuild things." Chapman said as she prodded at some wires with her tools.
"No one has ever seen Lopez do something for anyone." The annoying Chapman continued to poke at this topic I tried to move past.
"Don't mean to interrupt this ladies session or whatever, but I'm Luschek and I need to go over the safety rules." The man stood with his shoulders hunched as he spoke to me. He had a faint scent of booze to his breath. Luschek looked like he was a kind man behind his eyes, someone who didn't really belong working in this place.
"Yes, sir." I nodded and waited for him to speak.
Luschek scratched his beard as he started to speak, "Come with me." He walked us over to the cage and he pointed, "This is where you check out tools. Check out the tool with your badge. Return the tool, get your badge back. Simple, easy enough for donkeys."
"I think its monkeys." I blurted out.
"Not as slow as they say, Pierce." He chuckled as he patted me on the back.
I've gotten so numb to the slow comments. Simply, I shook my head in dismay.
"And read the electrician handbook before you start on any projects," He pulled a thick book from behind his desk and tossed it on the wood. It made a loud noise and saw dust flew into the air once the book hit the desk.
Letting out a bit of a disappointed sigh, "So, I don't get to check out any tools today?"
Scratching his scruff on his face again he spoke, "No. You read book. I test you. Then you can be like Chapman over there." He nodded towards the blonde.
Chapman smiled and waved like an excited five year old girl. She must be really enjoying this work detail. I shrugged my shoulders, grabbed the five pound book, and headed back next to Chapman. In the meantime, forgetting about Lopez and how she was in the same room as me.
Once I entered my room for the night, I saw Lopez sitting on her bed reading a book. Almost reminiscent of the first day I met her, when she was snorting behind it.
It's been on my mind all day, I have to ask, "So does this mean…Am I your like wife or something?" I confusedly asked. The whole wife thing-I can't seem to wrap my head around it still.
The brunette chuckled from behind her book. She answered me without ever looking up, "I've never seen anyone piss so many people off as quickly as you have." Lopez shook her head and laughed out, "And it's absolutely fascinating to me."
Lopez looked into her book as she candidly spoke. I couldn't help but show a smile when she laughed. It was the most adorable thing. Her eyes narrowed and her nose scrunched up all cute…and I need to stop. I just heard myself.
But hey, "That still doesn't answer my question." I stood there with my arms crossed.
Lopez closed her book and swung her legs to the edge of her bed. She looked at me with her head cocked before approaching me. Lopez brushed some hair off my shoulder and proceeded to look into my eyes as she stood before me, "I'm whatever you need me to be, Honey."
At one point in our uninterrupted eye contact I forgot to breathe. I ended up having a huge lump in my throat and awkwardly gulped. I've never seen her be so endearing and genuine. It almost makes me question it. Like I said before, paranoia is a friend of mine.
I think my questioning silence rubbed her the wrong way, "Look. You needed help today. And I can't fucking stand that gringa. So it was a two-in-one."
Reaching out for her as she walked back towards her bed, I grabbed ahold of her wrist. With her back still turned towards me I spoke softly, "I'm really thankful…you don't even know how hard of a morning I had."
Lopez turned her body towards me with my hand still gripping her wrist. I simply couldn't let go of her soft skin. "I've been there." She sweetly said with an understanding tone. My chest started to rapidly rise and fall. I was feeling an array of emotions coursing through my veins. I had to close my eyes to ground myself as I tightened my grip on Lopez's wrist. The brunette held out her arm to my bicep for guidance, afraid I was about to topple over. I'm really not sure what's happening between us, but there's some sort of bond that is not letting me walk to my bed. This feeling in the pit of my stomach telling me to stay where I was. Telling me to kiss this girl.
I wanted to thank her for last night, but words were betraying me. "About last night—"
The sultry brunette cut me off as she slipped out of my wrist, "It wasn't nothin'." Lopez throwing up her wall of defenses.
Again, I grabbed her wrist but with more demeanor. "It was perfect." I pulled her into my body.
I felt her strong thighs hit mine with force. There was something about this moment. Something told me to take control. I needed to feel those soft lips upon mine. Before I could think, I attacked her soft lips with mine. I brushed a stray strand of brunette hair from Santana's cheek, leaned in close, with hot breath spilling all over her as the noise of the cell block faded away. It wasn't a slow sweet kiss by any means, but all I could hear was the thud of my own heart matched with those of Lopez's. It was a kiss full of passion, shaky breaths escaping her nostrils. Our lips smacked together at a rapid speed as she grabbed the back of my neck and held me in place. Before either of us could get a grip of what was happening, Santana's mouth continued its attack on my own. I felt my body begin to tremble as I heard a quiet whimper escape the brunette's lips.
We took a much needed breath for air as Santana nibbled on the edge of my lip.
My eyes remained closed as I caught up on my breathing. All the while I had Lopez nibbling on my pulse point in the crook of my neck. I heard shuffle at the entrance to our cell. Both of our heads darted towards the noise.
Alex stood in the frame with a grin before her mouth fell agape, "So uh wife then?"
