What am I to do.
With this broken vein.
You know.
I can't leave you.

Sleep.
The worst is over.
Now the nightmares.
Are going to.
Tear you apart.
From within.
How do I mend.
This bleeding vein.
Tell me something.
So I may ease your pain.

Why aren't you talking?
I am listening.
But my attempts are futile.
The vein is too damaged.
I'm feeling useless.
I think I'm losing her.

Don't turn from me.
My heart is ravaged.
I cannot begin to mourn.
I know her vein is leaking.
But I can't manage.
To break the tide.
Glistening from my eyes.

I've not seen her.
Nor have I touched her.
During these waking hours.
To see her fully alive.
Is barely enough time for me.
Before I'm on to her.
In a heartbeat.
My tears have cleared.
My smile has blossomed.
We've got her safe and sound.
And the vein has finally healed.
Vanished to nothing.
