~Scene 4~ Alice in…. Another Land?
Back at the clinic, Alice lay, deep asleep. Beside her was Cathy, who was scanning over some papers…
Cathy: (sigh) Is Alice even suppose to sleep in her dream? I think that's redundant. It'll be a problem if she continues on sleeping in her sleep.
Because… how can she wake up from her sleep if she continues sleeping in her dream! And if that happens, we'll disappear! Since we're characters in her dream! Now… I'm talking to myself! I'm starting to be like that old hag who likes to drink tea always. What's with her anyway? Putting random pills in her visitor's tea. Alice is lucky because she just drank some sleeping pills. Seriously… her actions are supposed to be told to the guidance councilor! Oh, yeah… I'm the guidance councilor. Now… am I really starting to be like that hag?
Alice: Where am I? Hey… this is… Cathy?
Cathy: Yo… how's your sleep dear?
Alice: What happenned? And why does my head felt like splitting?
Cathy: It's that Martha's fault. You drank her tea right?
Alice: Yes…. Accidentally.
Cathy: She's dangerous you know. She puts up random pills in her visitor's tea. She's definitely crazy.
Alice: I know.
Cathy: Then why did you go to her place?
Alice: Because I want to know where Knave is.
Cathy: Knave? Why would you want to know where Knave is?
Alice: Because he might know how to make me wake.
Cathy: Oh… so you've discovered that this is just a mere dream?
Alice: Yes… I think. Since everything doesn't make sense! I've never heard of this school before.
Cathy: Ahh… Yes. This is certainly a dream and you might want to wake up soon.
Alice: Yes… I need… and not might but will.
Cathy: Well… I do know other someone who can lead you to where Knave is.
Alice: Who?
Cathy: Well, of course. The TEACHER! YOUR CLASS!
Alice: Is that really the truth or you're just making me go to class?
Cathy: Well… it's both. Now, you feel better now right?
Alice: (Nods)
Cathy: Then I'll lead you back to your room.
(Cathy and Alice exits. Cheshire and Rabbi enters)
Cheshire: This room seems empty.
Rabbi: Well, it is really empty stupid!
Cheshire: I know I'm stupid. You don't have to point it out.
Rabbi: I have to… to make you stupid.
Cheshire: Now that's harsh. But seriously, where's Alice?
Rabbi: Well, if it's Cathy who's with Alice… then I've only got one idea of place where they would be…
Cheshire: Ah! Homeroom! Cathy's a study addict afterall!
(The two exits. Setting changes into the classroom)
Meanwhile, at Alice's homeroom…
Alice: (Sitting while being surrounded by her classmates)
Daisy: So, how did you and the Knave met?
Cana: Tell us more, will you?
Alice: Uhh… I haven't even met him.
Cana: Really?
Alice: (Nod)
Mickey: I think it's better for you to meet him. For protection.
Alice: Protection? From what?
Minnie: It's not what but who.
Daisy: You see… the principal of this school has a daughter and is also our classmate. She's a spoiled one and have powers over all the students in
this school.
Minnie: She has a majorly big crush on the Knave and everytime she hears that some girl is getting close to 'her' Knave, she bullies her and
eventually expels her.
Cana: She even calls herself the Queen of this school!
Alice: Whooa… she seems dangerous.
Agil: Dangerous doesn't even describe her.
(Teacher enters)
Ms. Mockenzie: Good afternoon class.
Students: Good afternoon Ms. Mockenzie!
Ms. Mockenzie: Good afternoon… this afternoon, we have a new students I suppose… And this afternoon, we are going to talk about the story of Sleeping Beauty. Who can tell me the plot of Sleeping Beauty? How about you Ms. New Transferee?
Alice: Sleeping Beauty is a story written by the Grimm's Brothers. It is a story of a princess who was cursed by a witch to die by a spinning wheel needle upon pricking her finger but of the princess' fairy godmother changed the witch's spell and that is to make the princess sleep instead of dying and she will be waken up by a prince.
Ms. Mockenzie: Very good!
Alice listened to their lesson and a thought came to her mind. Cathy told her that the answer in waking up would be answered by their teacher and their teacher's topic that afternoon is about Sleeping Beauty. A sleeping princess who can be waken up by her prince's kiss. Now, that crazy idea made Alice wonder. If she was about to kiss someone to wake her up, then who's that someone?
Alice: (Pokes her seatmate) Hey… if there's a Queen in this school… is there any chance that there's a prince?
Lory: A prince? There are three princes to be exact.
Alice: Three?
Lory: (Nod) They are the School Chairman's sons. Knave is one of them.
Alice: Wait – and the other two is?
Lory: Rabbi Torre and Cheshire Torre.
Alice: ….What?
Ms. Mockenzie: Now… Goodbye class!
Students: Goodbye Ms. Mockenzie!
Queena: (Enters) Have anyone of you heard of the new transferee?
Students: (Silence)
Queena: Oh… so have you heard of what I want you all to do?
Students: (Silence)
Queena: Well… it's just making you all look for that transferee. If you won't do it, then you will be suspended or worse… expelled! So if anyone is
hiding her, bring her to me!
Dulce: (Hands-up) Uhh… Queena?
Queena: Yes?
Dulce: What if we give the transferee to you?
Queena: Well… you'll be rewarded of course!
Dulce: Then… (dramatic pause) the transferee's name is Alice and… (pause)
Queena: And?
Dulce: I've seen her… She's on the hallways, near the clinic.
Queena: Well thank you Dulce. As promised you will be rewarded…. Soon… (Exit)
Dulce: Quick! Hide! Queena is definitely not a person you should bump to…
Alice: Thank you… for covering me.
Dulce: It's nothing. Now quick! Before she comes back!
Alice: (Runs but sees Queena at the right stage and at the left stage, Rabbi and Cheshire enters)
Cheshire: ALICE! (Queena hears him and glares at Alice) Glad your oka –
Rabbi: (Hits Chesh's head) STUPID! The Queen's here!
Cheshire: But she doesn't know Alice right?
Rabbi: If she doesn't, then why is she approaching Alice with that scary face?!
Cheshire: Oh no! Alice! Run!
And Alice ran and ran, through the halls, through the stairs, going up or down until she lost her way. And one thing that Alice hates the most is being lost. Because that feeling that no one would ever find you is a sad feeling. Alice's tears began to up well and that want to go home made everything more a tearjerker for her. And so… she started to cry…
Alice: (sob) I didn't want this… I never wanted this… I want to go home!
Knave: What's wrong?
Alice: I want to go home.
Knave: Why? Isn't it fun here?
Alice: It's fun but… people are a bit dangerous sometimes.
Knave: That's alright, right? Since your school days will not be boring if there are people like that.
Alice: I know but… (sob) I want to see my family! I won't mind coming to a school like this….
Knave: If that's so… then stay.
Alice: I want to go home first!
Knave: But if you do that… you might forgot about us…
Alice: Why? Most of the people here are friendly… Except Martha and Queena.
Knave: Because… you just might.
Alice: You know, at first, I don't kinda trust people here but I got to know some of them and regretted how I didn't trust. They're good people and I'll never forget them…
Knave: (Smiles) By the way… I'm sorry.
Alice: For what?
Knave: For… transferring you here.
Alice: Wait – you're?
Knave: I'm Knave Torre. Nice to meet you Alice.
Alice: Knave? Then! You do know how to get out right?
Knave: Yes I do… And I suppose you know too.
Alice: Know? You mean… that idea of mine during our class hour?
Knave: (Nods)
Alice: But that - ! I haven't - ! I – I – I – I'm not ready!
Knave: I know! And it's not only I but we…
Alice: W…W…We?! You mean - !
Cheshire & Rabbi: (Enters)
Cheshire: ALICE! (Runs towards Alice and hugs her) I thought that they got you…
Rabbi: AHEM! That's sexual harassment!
Cheshire: No it's not! I'm just being friendly!
Rabbi: Being friendly or not. That's still called sexual harassment!
Cheshire: Waah… you're just jealous!
Knave: Well, I've got to admit… I'm a bit jealous.
Rabbi: Knave… finally. We've got to see you.
Cheshire: (Still hugging Alice) Oh… Knave is jelly. Let's make him more jelly shall we, Alice?
Alice: Uhh… actually… I really need to go home now.
Cheshire: And what shall be done?
Alice: Well… that's… uhh… it's kind of embarrassing…
Knave: Sleeping Beauty…
Rabbi: Sleeping Beauty? Oh… THAT.
Cheshire: What 'that'?
Rabbi: (Ignores Cheshire) Well you just have to close your eyes.
Alice: Easy for you to say! But for the sake of going home… (closes eyes)
Alice: But please! Spare my lips! (covers lips)
Rabbi: If you please… (kisses Alice's right cheek)
Cheshire: Waah! Rabbi! What are you doing?!
Rabbi: I just kissed her of course! Now, it's your turn!
Cheshire: My… My…? My turn? Well, if you tell me so… (kisses Alice's left cheek)
Knave: Now… (he removes Alice's hands from her lips.)
Alice: Wah! What are you doing?
Knave: (He slowly kisses Alice's forehead)
And with that, Alice opened her eyes to the real world.
