Miss Power 2-
The world around her was empty, the ground charred grass that used to be a healthy green. The electric trees had fizzled and died along with the fences. Houses were either completely destroyed or filled with holes where the acid rain had hit.
The Vamerians had attacked and they had won, but had done it in the worst way possible. The planet was no longer safe to live in and so creatures from both sides departed.
Adinia had left not long before the Vamerians had come, now she walked through the darkened area, her blue boots turning the grass to dust.
"No wind and no sun," she hummed to herself as she passed through what used to be a large electric fence, there used to be coils of blue that would shock her nearly to death and leave her stiff as a board. She stopped at a patch of dirt; familiar to her she knelt down and touched it with her gloved fingers. The soil had hardened, practically turned to rock.
The young woman stood again and continued on to the ratty dilapidated house that she used to call home.
She pulled open the door which fell of its hinge and she tossed it behind her, then she stepped inside.
The roof had massive holes in it and it dripped now highly diluted acid onto the floor. It was so poor that it had ceased to burn through the floor, rather it sat in an unmoving slightly green puddle.
Adinia ran a hand through her blond hair as she looked around her, the house was small but it had housed nine children.
She knew that neither her mother or brothers had made it out and neither had Serissa, she was unsure of the others though. Perhaps they had been lucky enough to be drafted and put into the getaway ship. Or perhaps they had died with the others.
Adinia didn't care.
Slowly she walked through the house, running her gloved hands across dusty and hole filled surfaces, when a strange squeaky sound c aught her ear.
She turned around quickly, prepared to use her ice breath, a few hate filled comments coming to mind immediately.
She was prepared for a Vemerianite, she wasn't prepared for the strange sugar glider-esque creature that stood before her. It was bright orange with bulging eyes and a long hairless tail, his buck teeth sticking out. He stood on the counter, his height only reaching about a foot (give or take a few inches).
"What the!?" she demanded, never before had she seen a creature such as this one. Was it a Vemerian pet? Or was it a creature that had been altered by the strange atmosphere?
It cocked its head, staring unblinkingly at her.
Adinia scowled, "What are you looking at you tiny little freak of nature?" she demanded and mocked again, the feeling of power rising. But then the creature did something strangeā¦it laughed. And suddenly her power was taken away.
Adinia cleared her throat, "Is that supposed to be laughter? It sounds like you're being strangled!"
More laughter!
Adinia stepped back but the creature moved forward, his short limbs stretching out so that he was level with her.
The blond alien blinked with surprise, "What are you?" she asked, her eyes narrowed. But the strange orange creature didn't respond, it couldn't talk she supposed. It merely smiled at her.
Adinia bit her bottom lip, "Do you like insults?" she asked it.
It nodded.
"And how do you feel about power?"
It smiled more, eyelids resting over bulging eyes as it rubbed its paws together almost in anticipation. The woman reached out and touched the creature's face and scratched beneath its chin, it purred in contentment. "I always wanted a sidekick," she said to herself, blue lips pressed together as she thought. After a moment she pulled her hand away, "Why don't you come travelling with me?" she offered, "It includes being the most powerful sidekick this world has known, plenty of insults and put downs, and six meals a day!" (Six being the usual amount for her planet, as these people were very powerful they required a lot of sustenance)
The creature nodded making strange sounds that she assumed was his talking. "Good," Adinia said with a smirk and she began to walk away, the creature following her. Suddenly she halted, "Oh wait, I'll need a name for you."
She turned to the creature and bit her bottom lip, "It will have to be something stupid to fit your looks," she commented and the creature laughed. "Ah, yes!"
"How about Colonel Giggle Cheeks?"
He seemed pleased by this name and he nodded vigorously, then he pounced and rested on her shoulder.
"We'll make a great team you and I, Miss Power and Colonel Giggle Cheeks!"
