Third Person POV:

The wind blows softly throughout the city known as the 'big apple'.

The three green, ninja, turtles hop from building to building, the silence surrounding them, making the air seem…thicker than usual.

The blue banded turtle, jumps to the nearest building then stops, already deep in thought. "Guys," He starts, then he faces his two other brothers.

Among all of the turtles, they felt deep inside them, was the harsh feeling of guilt, and regret. Even Raph, being the toughest of the group felt kinda bad. Of course, he would never bring himself to say it.

Leo sighs, and looks at both of them then says, "We shouldn't have left Mikey like that. I mean, don't you guys think it was a little harsh just…leaving him like that?"

Raph crosses his arms and-as always-has a tough face on. "Come on Leo. The little' shell brain had it comin'. Plus, we've told him more than once, that NOBODY wants to place no stupid, dance party."

He scoffs and rolls his eyes. "I mean, what are we, twelve?"

Leo looks over to Donnie to see what he has to say, and he sees him kicking the ground with his foot, with an annoyed look on his face. Then he says with a mocking tone, "Yeah, why should we care? April and Mikey already ripped out my heart, so I can't feel sorry anymore. Humph."

Rolling his eyes, Leo gives Donnie a small shove on his shoulder. "Donnie. Listen to me; we've already told you this once, Mikey didn'tsleep with April! Plus he's too young to do so, and too young to know what…'sex' means!"

Donnie only grunts in response, and then followed by Raph nodding his head. "That's true," he added, "and little old' Mikey wouldn't be able to score without Leo being the first. Especially with Karai and him flirting all the time."

The blue masked turtle's green face instantly burns a bright red, followed by his eyes widening. "Raph! That isn't cool! I don't even like Karai that way! Well, actually, maybe-you know what? Off topic! That is completely off topic!"

(A/N: Yes…Yes…I know they are kinda 'related' in the 2012 version, and she's Splinter's daughter, but in my story, Leo and Karai are NOT related. Lmao that would be weird…)

Donnie laughs, while Raph shrugs, with a cocky grin plastered on his face. "You can't hide from the truth forever, ya' know."

Leo takes in a large breath, in attempt to calm himself down and to try to make the blush on his face fade away.

"Anyways, we all know that Mikey's birthday is coming up. So we should at least try to be nice? I have to admit, what we did back there was mean, and as being the leader, I say we should apologize once we get back. Okay?"

(A/N: Yes…I'm giving them separate birthdays…it's kinda important to the story…And right now, Donnie, Raph, and Leo, are all 16!)

They all stand in silence for a few moments before Donnie sighs and says, "Yeah. I guess you're right. What we did was kinda rude."

Donnie and Leo then turn to Raph, and they see that Raph shrugs once again. "Okay. I'm not one for apologizin', but for Mikey, I'll do it'."

Leo smiles, and puts his hands on his hips. "Great. Now that we're all on the same page, I was thinking we could throw him a surprise party."

Donnie scoffs, and crosses his arms. "And how are supposed to do that? Remember, we left Mikey IN the lair…it won't really be a surprise if he sees us setting everything up for him."

"Exactly," Leo starts to explain, "that's why Donnie, you and I will go get all the supplies and stuff, while Raph," Leo points to Raph, "Takes Mikey out on a 'stroll'. But before we go back, we need to pick up the pizza, and the cake. But we've got to sneak it in without Mikey noticing. Hopefully, he'll be in his room or something. Then we'll shove the pizza into the oven, and the cake in the fridge to hide it."

"After that, I'll text Raph on the T-Phone, and tell him to bring Mikey back. Then BAM! Mikey has a happy birthday!"

Raph smirks while Donnie smiles widely, the gap in his teeth showing. "We are the best mutant big-brothers ever!"

I smile, and cross my arms. "You can say that again! Now, where is the nearest cake store around here?..."

Back at the lair, the youngest turtle was training thoroughly. He had been at it for about…2-3 hours now.

'Punch.'

'Kick.'

'Roundhouse Kick.'

'Throwing stars.'

'Swipe feet.'

Repeat.

The orange banded turtle had a determined look on his face. Ever since his 'realization', Mikey swore to not be his, 'annoying', 'shell-brained', self anymore. He figured if his brothers didn't like him as he was that he might as well change.

His three brothers had been gone for quite a long time.

'They must be enjoying me not being there.' Mikey thought to himself, and he sent another hard kick to the already tattered punching bag.

'I can already see Raph talking about me, and Donnie, and Leo laughing along with him.' Mikey reaches into his strap, and throws three sharp, throwing stars at a nearby dummy, all three hitting the center of the skull, with sharp precision.

'Those jerks that I call my 'brothers', even forgot about my birthday. They don't even care!' Mikey feels another surge of anger burst through his veins, and he jumps into the air, and sends a deadly kick to the punching bag, making it fly off its handles, it soaring across the room.

Mikey lands with a small, 'Thump' sound, in a crouching position. His head is bowed, and he's trying to catch his breath.

Within the silence of the training room, Mikey's thoughts are still running wildly throughout his mind. 'How long have they felt this way? Who do they think I am? A doormat? I-I have feelings too!'

So many emotions where flowing through Mikey right now. He was hurt, sad, angry, all rolled into one.

Mikey then collapses to his knees, his head still down and he lets a single tear slide down his light green face.

"Michelangelo, My son, is that you?"

The old rat's calming voice startled Mikey, and Mikey jumped up suddenly, and then wiped the tears stinging his eyes. "M-Master Splinter! I'm sorry for disrupting you." Mikey looks down to avoid his master's eyes.

Master Splinter frowns, and strokes his skinny but long beard. "Michelangelo, is there something troubling you my son? If there is, please, tell me. What is wrong?"

Mikey thinks to himself, and wonders if he should tell him. 'I mean, maybe I should tell him how I feel inside. Master Splinter might just know how to make me feel better…'

'No!' The voice inside Mikey's head says harshly.

'Do not tell anyone! That old rat will only say the same thing that your brothers would say to us! He doesn't care either!'

'B-But, this is Splinter we are talking about. He'll understand-'

'That's exactly what you said about Leo! That 'he'll understand'! And did he? No!' The voice snaps back.

'I'm trying to save you from getting hurt, and your being your same numb-skull self! You are changing that remember?'

Mikey whimpers in response, and the voice sounds pleased. 'Good. Now let's get outta here. Rat-man over here is getting too close.'

A touch on the shoulder snaps Mikey out of his thoughts, and Mikey jumps back a few feet.

Splinters eyes fill with concern and he takes another step closer to Mikey, "Michelangelo. Are you alright?"

Mikey shakes his head to clear his thoughts, and then he looks up at Splinter, his eyes turning cold. "I'm fine. I was just, training. That's all."

He tilts his head, face still written with concern, and he says, "Training? That is quite unusual, particularly for you, Michelangelo. Leonardo, yes, but you? Are there some problems that you are trying to work out? Say, emotional problems? If so, meditation is the ans-"

"No!" Mikey explodes at Splinter. "I don't need to meditate!" Splinters eyes widen somewhat, and then Mikey's brain finally catches up with his mouth. Instantly regretting blowing up at Splinter, Mikey sighs, and hangs his head low.

He says in a low whisper, "Sorry, Master Splinter. I-I'm just really tired. Can I go to my room please?"

Splinter nods his head, and puts his hand on the orange-banded turtles shoulder. "Yes, you may go. But if you ever need to speak to me, I am always here for you, my son."

Nodding in understanding, he heads for the door. But before he leaves Mikey hears Splinter's voice once more. "And Michelangelo,"

Mikey turns around, and looks at Splinter. "Yes?"

Master Splinter narrows his eyes slightly, and says in a warning tone, "Remember do not interrupt me like that again, do you understand?"

Mikey stands up tall, and bows his head slightly. "Aye, Sensei." Then, Mikey leaves the training room.

Splinter strokes his small beard and lets out a small sigh. "Teenagers."

The old rat then sits down on his mat to begin his meditation.

Mikey's POV:

I walk down the hallway, and I stop at Raph's door. Before I go in, I listen one more time, to see if anyone is coming home.

My ears are greeted with silence, and I take that as a signal that it's clear to go in.

I recently went into my two other brothers rooms, but they had nothing I really liked. But that's not what I'm looking for. What I noticed that none of them had comic books, or action figures, or anything kiddy like me. I bet that's something that makes them…grown up. And if that's what it takes, then I guess it's time to give my room a makeover.

I walk into Raph's room, and I look around. Raph rarely lets anyone-and by anyone I mean me-go into his room, so as I walk in his room, my eyes scan over everything. I see his red stop sign, his hammock, and a bunch of other junk.

I go for his desk, and I look through all his paper and crap. All I see is pointless paper and posters for wrestlers. Actually…I take one of the posters of the wrestlers named, 'Mano Macho!', and I put it in my back pocket.

I'm about to leave when I see a magazine sitting on the bottom of his piles of papers. I push all the extra paper aside, and my eyes frown when I see the magazine that I found of my big brothers desk.

On the cover, there is a girl…she looks about 21 or something…and she's wearing…a stringed shaped shirt? Yeah, it's a shirt that extends down to her legs, then wraps back up to her neck, and held by a string.

The whole outfit is black, and the girl is standing next to a-sweet-car. She is also holding a bottle with the weirdest looking Irish man on it.

(A/N: Just search 'Cutout Crochet Monokini'. That's the 'shirt' the girl's wearing lmao)

I look at the paragraph under it, and it says,

'Come on down to Scotty's Beer' in' Shack'! It's time to find your pot ol' gold! While you're at it, come check out our large selection of 'speedsters'! They are the fastest anyone has to offer, in all of NYC!'

I frown and turn the page, reading more.

'And hey, if you are still having second thoughts about coming down here, we'll even treat you to an incredible special! If you buy one large beer for 2.00, you'll get the next two free! On us! AND as a bonus, you get served by our incredible waitresses, as seen on the cover,'

I turn back to the cover, and look back at the girl.

Hmm.

She is kinda pretty…I then go back to the page that I was at and continue to read.

'We have the best service in all of the 'Big Apple', and these ladies will be there in an instant with whatever you need! So get your butt down here today or tonight! Eat great food, drink AMAZING beer, check out our smoking waitresses, and drive some awesome cars! Then repeat the cycle again! only here, at Scotty's Beer' in' Shack'!'

Beer.

Beer…

Now that I think about it, I've never actually HAD beer before. That's what everyone else drinks right? This is what grown-up people drink? I thought that was wine? I guess it would be a nice change for once. What could a few cups of beer do-

"Mikey! Hello? Mikey! We're back!"

My eyes widen, and I start to panic. Crap! They're back!

I look one more time at the Magazine to look for directions to this place; 'On 1827 Grandville Dr.'

Throwing the magazine back where it was, I sprint for Raph's door, shut the door quickly but quietly, and then sprint into the bathroom. I was still stinky and sweaty from that workout earlier.

I tear my headband off, along with everything else, and quickly turn on the shower, and hop in. I shiver because the water is cold, but I disregard that feeling for now.

Soon, I hear a knock at the door. "Mikey?" It sounds like Leo. "Hey Mikey once you are done with your shower, we need you to come out to the living room. We need to talk to you." Ugh, it is Leo.

Rolling my eyes, I reply harshly, "Yeah. Whatever, dude. I'll be out in a minute."

A few seconds pass, all that is heard is the shower running, and then I hear him say in a questionable tone, "Okay?..."

The sound of his footsteps fading leaves me to my thoughts.

I lean on the handle, and let all the water wash down my face. Then I mentally prepare myself for what I say to my brothers. Now that I know that they don't…like…me, I have to approach them in a different way.

No more childish, Mikey. Yeah! I've got this, hopefully.

I walk out of my room, feeling refreshed after my hot shower, and I walk out into the main room, where Donnie was watching TV alongside Raph, while Leo was stuffing something into the oven.

I guess they really did forget my birthday. What a bunch of jerks!

Crossing my arms, I break the silence with a, "Well? You called me out here, what do you want?"

Everyone exchanges looks with each other besides me, and then Raph jumps up, coming towards me. "Hey, 'Shell brain! Can't we just talk to ya'?" He puts his hand on my shoulder, and I shrug it off, not wanting him to touch me.

"No, not exactly, and I'll ask again, what do you want?" I say this with some anger in my voice, and obviously it shocks them, because it looks like they weren't expecting what I said back to them.

Leo turns around, and kicks the oven closed with his foot, and crosses his arms. "Mikey, what's with the attitude? We were only trying to talk-"

I interrupt him by walking away. "Obviously, you only wanted me here to yell at me again so, no thanks."

Raph scoffs and jumps in front of me, blocking me from the exit. "Listen here' Mikey. No need to be rude. You-"

I let out a loud exasperated sigh, and roll my eyes. "God, Raph your voice is so ANNOYING! When will you just shut up already?!"

Raph narrows his eyes, and steps closer towards me, his fists clenched tightly. "What did ya' say Mikey? ya' might just want to shut' it' right now before I shut it for' ya'!"

As a counter attack, I narrow my eyes with just the same warning in them, and I step closer to Raph. "Go ahead, Raph. I'd like to see you try."

Donnie and Leo runs in between us, separating us, before we tear each other apart.

"Guys, no fighting! Brothers don't fight!" Leo says, and Raph only growls in response, and storms back to the kitchen to grab a refreshment.

Then he says from the inside of the refrigerator, "Mikey should watch' his mouth' before someone pops him…like me for example."

Donnie and Leo then look to me, frowns on both of their faces. Donnie and then says quizzically, "What has gotten into you Mikey?"

Leo nods his head, and tilts his head, "Yeah, is everything alright? You've been acting-"

"Weird?" I snap at him with as much ice as I could put into my voice, "Stupid? Well guess what Leo, I don't give a damn!"

Donnie gasps slightly, and Leo's eyes widen and he says with authority in his voice, "Michelangelo! Don't you dare swear!"

I roll my eyes, and cross my arms. I mean, what is the big deal? I hear Raph, Leo, AND Donnie say them all the time.

Like the time Raph was playing the pin-ball machine and he lost, he screamed out a loud, 'What the fuck! This game is screwed!'

And Like the time Donnie was working in his lab, and he burned his hand on one of the stoves he was using, and he jumped up, startled, and said; 'Oh my god! Hot! Hot! Shit! It burns! Holy mother stinking god! This burns!"

And lastly, when Leo was in the dojo, and he was training with one of his katanas, he accidentally slipped on a lone, wet, rag left on the ground. And as landed on the ground, he rubbed his head, and mumbled, "What the hell? Ugh, MIKEY!"

"Well, what's the big deal? I hear all of you swear all the time!" I respond, most likely looking defiant.

Leo snaps back, "That doesn't give you the okay to swear Mikey! Now, don't do it again, we clear?"

I grumble angrily, and say, "Whatever." Then I storm towards the door to leave.

Leo-once again-gets in my way and stops me before I could go. "Uh, where do you think you're going Mikey?"

I reply like it's the most obvious thing in the world, "Out, where else?" Again, I try to leave, but Leo blocks my path.

Then, I hear Raph's voice in the back, "I don't know if you've been hit with the 'stupid stick' again, but Splinter said we were not allowed' to go up on the' surface alone. So…you're not going anywhere. Tough luck buddy."

I give Leo a shove on the shoulder, enough to make me pass, and I walk passed him, and I walk out of the main room. "What Splinter doesn't know, won't kill him."

Donnie gasps, and says, "Well. Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed huh? You know he's going to find out, right?"

I look back at him and I narrow my eyes. "Then don't tell him. And don't follow me either, got it? I am old enough to do what I want. I am turning 16 tonight, remember? Or did you forget that too?"

"Mikey," Leo says hesitantly, "Don't go. I'm serious. We don't want you getting hurt, at least take one of us with you."

Rolling my eyes, I sigh. "I'll stay in the shadows, I've got it. God, all of you are acting like moms." I then start walking out, and down the long pipes of the sewers.

"Michelangelo!" I hear Leo's voice fading away as I walk further away from the lair.

I check my pocket for some cash, and I see I've got about 10 dollars.

Great, it only costs 2.00 for one, and I'll get two more for free. If they forgot my birthday, I'll just treat myself. And this is the first step into growing up. I break out into a run to get to my destination faster.

Next Stop: '1827 Grandville Dr.'

Leo's POV:

We stand there in silence, and we all just take in what Mikey just did. I frown and cross my arms, "What's his problem?"

Donnie puts his thinking face, and says, "It seems like he's…angry? But Mikey is always happy, and playful. I just don't know why exactly he would be upset? Maybe because he thinks we forgot his birthday."

Raph pinches the bridge of his nose and starts to walk towards the door. "I don't know. But I'll go after' him. You guys stay here, and finish the decorations n' stuff. We've still got a lot of stuff to set up."

I jog up to Raph, and put my hand on his shoulder as a motion for him to stop. "No, I've got this one. You stay here with Don, and help. Also, that pizza still needs to be cooked, so get on that too."

Raph nods and walks back towards the kitchen to start everything. Before I leave, Donnie calls out, "Oh and while you're out, we still need some soda, plastic cups and plates, and a couple of movies. Try some of each genre, just in case."

I swing my jacket over my shoulders, and I put the collar up. "Got it, anything else?"

"We have all of Mikey's presents right? Those new nunchucks, the set of comic books, and those action figures?" Raph asks.

"Yes, yep, and correct." Donnie replies. "They are all hidden away on the top shelf of my room. I'll wrap them once I'm done with this." He gestures to himself putting up all the banners, and balloons.

"Great, hopefully Mikey and I will be back in time when everything is done and ready. I'll be back soon, and if Splinter asks where Mikey and I went, just tell him we went out for a talk or something."

Raph and Donnie nod, and continue to work while I sprint down the sewers and up to the surface to look for Mikey.

I spot Mikey jumping from building to building, and once he lands softly, he runs quietly. Where was this preciseness when we are actually on missions?

Coming out from the shadows, and from behind a stray poster board, whenever Mikey is at least 10 feet ahead of me, that's when I continue to run behind him, and follow.

Every once in a while Mikey stops, turns around and checks out his surroundings. Whenever that happens, I ducked behind the nearest object and hid there, until the suspicion dies down, and Mikey continues to go wherever he is going.

Right now, I was hiding behind a large air vent duct. I count to about 10 seconds; because that's usually how much time Mikey spends looking around. But this time, when I look back, I didn't see him anywhere.

Standing up, I look around franticly. "Crap." I mumble under my breath. How could I have lost him? He was right there-

I unexpectedly, I feel a powerful blow to my side, and I grunt, and fall to the ground, but then come back, jumping up, my katanas, in hand.

I look around again, but there is no one here. Confused, but still alert, I slowly start to walk around the roof top that I was on, checking every hiding place.

Nothing.

This can't be though! I felt-

Someone then swipes my feet, and I fall to the ground with a large thud. Reacting quickly, I use my two arms to lift my upper body up, and in an instant, I'm back in my fighting stance. The shadow darts to the left, and I run along with it, determined not to let-whoever this is-go.

We then engage in weapon to weapon combat, but before I knew it, my two katanas were yanked from my hands, and thrown at the billboard with such precision, that even I could not had have been able to pull off. My two katanas hit the little girl on the poster right where her forehead was, sheesh.

I try to look at his face, but he's too swift, and fast for me to actually recognize who this person was.

Seeing that this person has the upper hand right now, I go into hand to hand combat. I kick, punch, and swipe at him, but this person seems to know every move, and every step that I was going to throw at them. Because with everything I had, my opponent easily dodged.

Out of breath, and still trying to figure out a weak spot on my enemy, I slide my left foot backwards, and attempt to roundhouse kick this guy to the ground.

Much to my disappointment, my enemy grabs my leg that's in the air, twists it, and throws me hard on the ground.

I roll for a few moments before coming to a stop, and then groan from the pain of my leg. I look up at my opponent, and when he steps out of the shadows, my breath hitches in my throat.

"M-Mikey?"

Mikey's face looks angry and he crosses his arms. I could see that in his baby blue eyes, it showed hurt. But then as quickly as it appeared, it disappeared, and was replaced with stone cold ones.

"Leo! What do you think you are doing? Why are you following me?" He demands an answer, and steps forward.

"What am I doing out here? Mikey, I told you to stay back at the lair! What are you doing out here? Where are you going?"

Mikey scoffs, and rolls his eyes again. "That is none of your business. I can do what I want to do! Now just, just go home or something!"

He starts to walk away, and I manage to stand up, my leg still throbbing from the harsh blow that Mikey did to it. "Michelangelo, don't walk away from me! I'm serious!" I start to limp after him.

"You don't tell me what to do! I'm grown up, and I can do what I want to!" Came Mikey's reply, and he stood on the edge of the building, about to jump to the next one.

"Mikey," I start to say, trying to reason with him, "Listen, just come home, and we can sort this whole thing out. I know something is bugging you, because you normally don't act like the way you're acting right now!"

He turns around, and faces me, with a determined look on his face. "I have no problems Leo. I'm telling you I am fine!"

I sigh and say back, "Fine, don't come home. At least tell me where you're headed! We don't want you going off to somewhere dangerous, and we cannot find you."

Mikey groans and puts his nunchucks back in his pocket. Then after a while he says, "I'm going to this cool new comic book store down town. It's called Comic Central. That's where I'm going, just to check out a few comics."

"Where is the comic book shop?" I ask him.

"It's down by that one food place…that spaghetti warehouse…" He says.

I frown and look at him with all seriousness. "Mikey, you aren't lying right?"

Nodding his head, he says back, "Dude! Yes! Can I just go now, before they close?"

I take a few more seconds, and then sigh. "Alright," I say finally, "you can go. But be back around 8. We have something for you back at the lair."

"Yeah, yeah." Mikey says, before he turns back around to jump to the next building. "And Mikey," I say before he leaves. He turns around and raises his eyebrows.

"Don't run off like that again, okay? I'm serious, when I say stop, or to not go somewhere, do it. I don't want you getting hurt, because you're my brother, and I care. Okay?"

Mikey nods, "Anything else?" He says twirling his thumbs.

"Yeah," I say with a slight frown on my face, and I tilt my head, "Why don't you ever fight like that in training? I have to admit, that was really good."

Mikey shrugs and says, "I guess I haven't really…tried before." I nod, and motion for him to go. "Okay, go on to that comic book shop, and hurry. Remember, be back by 8."

"Okay, sure." Mikey smiles, then jumps to the next building, and waves. Finally, he sprints out of sight.

I limp over to where my katanas are, jump a few times, and yank them out of the poster board. When I land on my leg, I give a small yelp of pain, but the pain soon subsides. I put them back in place, and then hobble over to the edge of the building.

'Now,' I think to myself, 'How am I going to get to the store with this leg?'

Okay, there you go everyone!
