Well, you see, the obvious answer from a future evil overlord (or would it be overlord in progress?) is ,well, no. What's the response of a childlike monster with an awful vocabulary? Well, I'm sure you can guess.

The bullets fly and Hikari blocks with the ease of a scythe user years in the making. Unconventional, even. If Takeru was really looking, it would probably remind him of an anime. But it doesn't and he's not. He's too busy staring at the shining form of what Patamon once was. It's not Angemon. It's not even close to Angemon.

It's even cooler.

… Oh leave him alone, he's eight.

It is almost as cool as the fact that the angel, great, eight winged awesome guy he is, nearly slices Pinocchimon's hammer into pieces. Level difference wins that day instead, creating a clang and a spark that almost hits trees and roasts them. Hikari drops, dodging shrapnel, narrow flight.

And Takeru sees it all.

For all Hikari's power, for all of her showman's game and the terror she inspires, that's all she has. She's still a kid, still inexperienced. Whatever is breaking her, whatever is using her, it can't take that away.

Pinocchimon shrieks. "You're a sore loser! Just quit it!"

Takeru watches his partner give the other a hefty shove. "You first!"

Hikari touches the ground and Takeru is forced to look at her, to acknowledge the unhealthy pallor, the too sweet smile. "Time, Takeru-kun," she says softly. "Time to give in."

"You won't do it." Hikari prepares a very powerful, mocking noise and Takeru stomps his foot. "You won't! You still need us! Hikari-chan needs us! You need to keep her alive, right?"

"You're assuming she is," Hikari replies with a giggle, fingers resting on her scythe.

"We saw her." Takeru makes the tears go away, makes himself not cry. "And even if we didn't, I believe it! Hikari-san wouldn't die from that!"

"A human wouldn't die from her skull breaking on the floor, from the shock of blood loss?" Hikari laughs. "Takeru-kun, little boy, don't play with me!"

Takeru balls his hands into fists. "Then prove it! Kill me right now!"
