DAISY
"Come with me."
"Robin what is it?"
"Come on, please."
Daisy followed Robin to the secret meeting cave. The one she'd frequented during the start of knowing Robin and his men.
"What is it Robin? You're scaring me."
"It's the greatest of news."
"What?!"
"King Richard is heading back to England. The war is over."
"Are you serious?"
"Completely but this has to stay a secret. Who knows what spies are waiting for news on the King. You know what sort of people the Sheriff and Gisbourne are and what they'd do with this information."
"I know…and heaven forbid Prince John found out."
"Exactly. I dread to think of what he'd do."
"This news in incredible. Just think, all the hard times will soon be over."
"There was more information in the letter," said Robin.
"How long have you been getting these letters?"
"A fair while. I saved the King's life in the Holy Land. Since my return I've messaged him about what Prince John has done and in return he keeps me well informed. I even met his Mother a while back."
"Really?"
Robin nodded, "she was going into hiding as Prince John was hunting her. Can you imagine? Her own son, it's madness."
Daisy agreed with Robin that it was madness but she'd long since come to the conclusion that Prince John didn't have all of his marbles. Either that or he was having the world's biggest toddler temper tantrum.
"What else was in the letter?" she asked.
"It's big, are you sure you want to know?"
Daisy nodded.
"For months now the letters have had bits of information about a young girl who is dearly important to the King. Daughter of the Kings trusted advisor and best friend, he hasn't heard from either of them in almost a year. The King is godfather to this young girl as well."
"Who is she?"
"It's you Daisy."
"But my godfather isn't the King. He's just an ordinary man—"
"Who leaves his crown behind when he visits you. It's true Daisy, he is your godfather."
"Oh," she said, then uncertainty added, "does this change thing's between us?"
Looking outraged that she'd even asked, Robin wrapped Daisy in his warm embrace.
"Of course it doesn't. Daisy, what we have isn't something I'd give up. However new this is, I feel things with you that I have not felt before. I would be a fool to jeopardise that in any way."
"I'm sorry but I had to ask. Growing up with Marion as your cousin makes you questions things you shouldn't."
"I would never want to hurt you, believe that."
"I do."
Daisy couldn't help but feel her life had taken a turn for the better the day she had met Robin. Just remembering all that had happened since then bought a smile to her face. She felt a sense of triumph for winning Robin's affections when it was a prize that her cousin had desperately wanted.
The months of agonising unrequited love had paled into nothing now that she was with him. She had wished for a slow burning romance but with Robin everything was hard and fast yet she wouldn't change it for the world.
