Alfred POV
I glanced up at the ceiling, bored beyond belief as a fire raged inside me. That small human was becoming annoying, still…
I closed my eyes with a slight roll, becoming more annoyed than bored the more I thought about that boy, Arthur Kirkland.
While the last name was extremely common, he was certainly related to Peter, there was no way eyebrows like that would happen randomly. I felt a small throb in my chest, sighing and sitting up from the bed I was at before standing and walking to a window.
As I glanced at the people walking by, the light dim due to the large dome that surrounded the large city.
"My king." A quiet voice called from behind. I turned to see Feliciano standing there, looking timid.
I gave a bright smile. "Hey Feli, what's up?" I asked, walking over.
He fidgeted nervously. "Well I was going to make that meal you asked me for the human, but it's very late and its likely he isn't awake…" He trailed off.
I hummed. Feli was the newest vampire here, only having been changed a hundred or so years ago. "Then don't worry Feli, I'll take your judgment here." I said calmly. "And you don't have to say my king, you know. Just Al or Alfred works."
He smiled sheepishly. "Yes, my- I mean Alfred." He corrected before walking off, more than likely to see Ludwig. I shook my head fondly, he was so funny sometimes.
I then glanced down the hallway, thinking for a moment before walking to the end of the hallway and making my way up several flights of stairs.
When I reached the 12th floor I stopped at the third door on the right of the hallway, waiting outside for a moment. After hearing steady breathing and a slightly slower heartbeat I quietly opened the door, light from the hallway seeping into the now dark room, stopping just shy of Arthur's face but lighting his bright gold hair.
I stepped in, passing by his bed and letting my hand thread into his hair, gingerly tipping his head back to expose his pale neck. I let his hair go and let my hand run on his neck, placing my index finger on a spot where I could get a fair amount of blood.
My eyes flashed red for a moment before I closed them and took a measured sigh, stepping back and sitting in the wooden chair to the side.
"Even if I wanted to hurt you, I couldn't." I mumbled, staring at his serene face. "I want you, to ruin that innocence that wraps around like some choking cloak. To make you scream for me. To make you mine."
I closed my eyes, opening them to see that Arthur's breathing had gotten far slower than normal.
"My king~" A familiar voice chirped from the doorway. I lazily glanced over with a smile.
"Yes, Belle?" I said in response, my voice no longer a hushed whisper now that I wouldn't have to worry about Arthur waking up.
She grinned, reaching up to pull off her black hood of her cloak that had a golden trim along it. "I came to let you know about the report you asked me to look into."
I gave her a somewhat unimpressed look. "It couldn't have waited?" I inquired, my tone playful.
"Well if you are more worried about what's going on here, I can also talk about this." She said, rolling my eyes knowing this was not going to be fun. Belle had a gift for interpreting situations and then finding solutions, even on the slimmest of information, it made her nearly psychic.
"Go on." I said in consent.
"Well, he obviously reminds you of Kiku." She said bluntly, the name making me wince a bit. "He looks nothing like him, but the fact he isn't afraid of you, and fire that is in his eyes reminds you of Kiku."
I closed my eyes, exhaling slowly.
"Although the real reason you want him is because he isn't afraid of you. You are lonely, My King, and while you could have any vampire in the city, you've always had a fondness for humans. The way they burn so brightly, it's hard for that to transition to a being that practically lives forever. You want that."
I stared at her with steady cerulean eyes. "And." She knew what I was asking.
"But he is not his reincarnation." She said.
I sighed heavily, putting my elbows on my knees and face in my hands in frustration.
"Are you going to kill him now?" She asked curiously, her eyes bright red and contrasting with her golden hair.
I shook my head, sitting up. "No."
"Why?"
I frowned, thinking for a second. "He was special to his town." I glanced at him. "I can see why… I don't want something like him to go to waste." I sighed. "He's brave, and inventive. He's the first human that has lived past the reaping because of it."
She hummed thoughtfully before shrugging. "If you say so, My King."
I gave her an unimpressed look before staring at Arthur. "What is the report?" I inquired after a few seconds.
"The town that failed to send any people last month was empty." My eyes widened, making me glance over.
"Did they leave?"
She shook her head. "No, they were killed. There were body parts scattered across the streets, blood everywhere." She paused. "Some people were taken. There were fingernail marks and dents everywhere, but no blood. They were purposely taken alive."
I folded my hands. "What do you think is happening?"
She bit her lip. "It's hard to say, as its only one city, but somebody is trying to make an army."
I hummed, thinking. "Arthur's city, is it still safe?" I asked.
"I was there yesterday, no sign of any other vampires yet." She said.
"Keep somebody there who can use long range telepathy, that way in case of an attack we can reach it quickly." I said. "And send somebody to go check our other cities. If what you are saying is true, we have to protect the cities."
"Yes sir." She said. My eyes went back to Arthur, noticing his breathing speeding up and returning to normal, signaling that Belle was gone. I closed my eyes and stood once more, gingerly tangling my hands in his hair and returning his neck to its former position as his expression shifted to one of regret and discomfort.
I tilted my head, curious about what he was dreaming about. I then smiled coyly, closing my eyes.
Arthur Pov, Dream
A loud tone rang through the clearing as the large metal gates near the dome started to open. I stood off to the side, near a boy who was roughly a year older than I, and gingerly removed the glass from my shirt.
In moments, there was screaming from the far right of the clearing, those trying to hide being found easily. My stomach turned at the sounds, the boy in front of me trembling.
I took a deep breath, resolved in what I needed to do. As a dark shape came at us, I flashed forward and dug the glass into the boy's leg. He went down with a loud scream, his hand reaching to pull the glass out. I went to run past him, hoping they would focus on him and ignore, before letting out a sharp cry as he swiped at my side with the glass, some small shards breaking off and digging into the wound.
I couldn't stop, I had to keep running. I couldn't die here, so I continued to run. Before slipping through the open gate, I saw a small girl with brown hair leaning against the wall. I recognized here as the girl from earlier, but now her neck was at an unnatural angle and blood was leaking down her neck onto her dark brown hair.
I gave a small noise before continuing to run, going until I couldn't run anymore and collapsing beside a concrete planter box….
Suddenly the scenery changed to a rolling grass hill. I blinked, turning around and noticing I was on top of the hill that had a tree with a rope tire swing attached to a branch. Further down the hill was a house, larger than what I had seen, with white walls and a brown roof. It looked like a standard country home we would see in our history classes.
"That was a pretty savage thing to do there, Sunshine." A now familiar voice called from my right. I jumped in surprise, looking and seeing Alfred standing there. "Although you're alive, which is what matters right?" He stated as he started walking towards me.
I stepped back a little bit, my back bumping against the tree. "Why are you in my nightmare?" I said.
He quirked an eyebrow, stopping just before me. "That is a good question, Sunshine." He said, leaning down a bit to place a hand on my neck, my hand reaching up to slap it away but meeting resistance. "That's not very nice." He said before grabbing my other wrist and pinning them to the tree.
Instantly my breathing picked up, moving my leg to kick him. "Let me go!" I yelled, although it wasn't very convincing as me hyperventilating was making it hard to speak.
"I'm not going to touch you, idiot." He said, somewhat annoyed and unaffected by the kick. This was seeming to real to be a dream, but I knew I wasn't awake. What was going on here?
"Let me go." I said again.
He snickered, moving to hold my wrists with one hand before leaning down and placing his lips on my neck, making me shiver. "Nah, I don't feel like doing that Sunshine."
I shivered as he kissed my neck briefly before nearly screaming as I felt fangs go into my neck, the pain in the beginning making me see stars before feeling something replace the pain.
My eyes fluttered closed and my face scrunched up as pleasure coursed through me, the bite the main source.
It was seconds before this dream Alfred pulled back, licking his lips, a smug look on his face when I opened my eyes. I stared at him with a defiant look, although I knew my eyes were a little unfocused from the pleasure that still coursed through me.
"Let. Me. Go." I hissed. With a blasé smile, Alfred let my wrists go and stepped back.
"You might want to wake up now Arthur." He said before the dream collapsed into black.
