Moon Stalkers

Chapter 10: Complications

I woke up the next morning to find myself with a deep headache. I let out a low groan and covered my head, cautiously opening my eyes. Thank god Alfred was a vampire because the blinds were closed, leaving the room a favorable dark. I now more confidently removed my head from beneath the blankets, which did offer little protection and sighed. My head was pounding from blood loss…. Speaking of which.

"Alfred." I complained loudly, my own ears screaming in agony at the sound of my loud voice. It took me a moment to realize the other was still in the bed and sleeping. This was not what I wanted at all. I pursed my lips and set myself to a new task; waking him up.

I slowly poked his cheek, but all I got in response was louder snoring. I furrowed my eyebrows in frustration and pushed at him. Thus, he was heavier and had no effect what so ever. Now I had my last option. "Jones, wake up." I said in a normal voice. After he didn't respond, I felt my lip twitch. I leaned into his ear and smirked. "Wake up you idiot!" I shouted.

At this he jerked up and cursed as our foreheads hit each other. I jerked away with a hiss and my eyes watered from the pain. I glared at him and rolled off the four-poster bed. "You twit." I wailed.

He stared at me with big blue eyes before grinning. Not a moment later he was laughing and holding his gut. I blinked for a moment before growling and throwing a pillow at him violently. "Why are you laughing?" I shouted at him.

Alfred only laughed harder. I let out an irritated noise before turning to the dresser. "You twit, that hurt!" I said, reaching in to grab some clothes, clearly intending to take a shower. A pair of arms gently wrapped around my waist and cool lips touched the base of my neck.

"I wasn't laughing at you Sunshine." Alfred said. "I was laughing at your expression. It was funny." I let out an irritated noise and turned around to look into his eyes. I stared up and down before sliding under his arms.

"You're still a git." I replied and walked into the bathroom. I heard him let out a snicker as I closed the door before he went silent. I stopped for a minute before sighing. "Go make breakfast and stop trying to imagine me naked, you pervert." I said. Sure enough, Alfred let out a shocked noise before I heard the sound of skin rusting with clothing and the door opened and shut. I sighed in relief and turned on the shower.

I gazed the room in wonder and gently put my clothes on the counter. This whole house was truly beautiful… I smiled and stepped into the shower once my current clothes were removed.

I was downstairs in less than thirty minutes. I did have a towel on my head though to dry my short hair, and as I shook it to get the water off looked up to see the clock on the wall. I was surprised to see it was a quarter past ten already.

Since it was already so late, practically everybody was out in the main room, which was rather spacious. On the love seat were Lovino and Antonio, who was making little fires on his fingertips and dancing them on his hands to impress Lovino, who couldn't be more disinterested.

On the longer couch, was a strange man wearing a striped blue and white scarf as well as a brown army uniform. His expression was stony and his sharp green eyes were constantly scanning. I let my eyes flick to the next person who was Francis and a girl with long, wavy brown hair and soft green eyes. She looked quite irritated with him if her twitching hand was anything to go by.

On the next couch were two people. One was Arabian almost. Perhaps from the Middle East? Either way his skin a bit dark, even for a vampire. He was talking with another man, boy actually, of Asian descent. They seemed pretty absorbed in their conversation so I avoided staring at them for too long and looked into the kitchen.

There was Alfred, concentrated on the pan before him. Since I couldn't see the oven, as it was against the back wall, I quietly made my way around all the talking pairs of people on the couch and to the kitchen. Since Alfred hadn't noticed me thus far, I leaned against the counter and watched him carefully.

At last I cleared my throat and raised an eyebrow. "What are you making Alfred?" I questioned innocently. Bright blue eyes blinked before they turned coy and a smile reached then.

"Well I made a sausage patty Arthur." He replied joyfully. "And there are biscuits in the oven to put them in." I blinked at him and felt a small smile tug at my lips.

"You know I don't like those though." I said. He caught the light teasing tone in my voice and mere grinned in return. After another moment he had moved the pan off of the stovetop and he had my hips firmly in his grip.

I fought a rising blush off my cheeks and stared into his playful blue eyes. "I know that Artie, but you like me so you will have one, right?" This time I blushed and shot him a dirty look.

"When you put it that way, how can I ever say no?" I asked sarcastically. He snickered softly and pulled me into a short but hot kiss.

"You can't, and that's the thing." He murmured before kissing me again. I blushed a deeper red and I was torn between pushing him away and pulling him closer. Thankfully I didn't have to choose as a low and obviously interrupting cough sounded behind me. I turned around, glancing over the granite countertops into the playful green eyes of Antonio.

Alfred merely smirked at him playfully and I slowly ducked under his arm. "So what was it you wanted Toni? You saw I was busy." Alfred said as I grabbed a plate to put the sausage patty on.

I grimaced as I saw how greasy the patties really were. I let out a small sigh and then reached down to open the oven. The biscuits were ready so I then found oven mits, conveniently on the countertops, and pulled the tray out. I then plucked a hot biscuit off the tray and put the patty between them. I smiled as the grease was soaked up and I then proceeded to walk pas Alfred again.

I found myself being tugged by my wrist and a gentle hand grabbing the plate and placing it down. I blinked in surprise and went to glare at Alfred before a mouth was suddenly sucking on my neck, making me shut my eyes. My head tilted up, in prepare of a bit. I was (pleasantly?) surprised to discover he was only sucking on my neck. My eyes slid open to see him and he was looking at me. I blushed and closed my eyes again and let out a soft noise before covering my mouth. He smiled against my throat and released it. He stared at the purpling mark before grinning and shooting a glare at Francis. I then blinked dazed and frowned.

I quickly then grabbed my plate and walked to the table in the middle of what was a dining room. It was a small table, which was good since I was the only person who ate, and I sat there. Almost immediately a pair of arms wrapped around my waist and slightly chilled lips touched my ear. "Arthur, don't be mad at me…" He said pleadingly in my ears.

My eyes rolled and I tilted my head up slightly to talk quietly. "Why not when you are marking me up like property?" I hissed angrily. He winced and I sighed, leaning down to eat again.

"Because I was doing it to keep him away from you." He murmured into my ears. I sighed and turned around.

"Grab your plate, because I know you eat, and follow me upstairs." I said before curtly standing up and walking up the stairs. It was only then did I hear the deafening silence. A second glance showed that the room was empty. I winced internally and sighed. Was I being too dramatic?

I skirted into my room and sighed softly. I sat on the bed and placed my plate down. A moment later Alfred walked in with a sheepish look on his face, before placing his own food down. Blue eyes stared into mine and I sighed.

"I'm sorry for freaking out…" I said timidly. Alfred blinked in absolute surprise and nearly dropped his food. I stared at him and worry before he smiled and sat next to me on the rather large bed.

"It's nice to see I am not the only one who apologizes… but I'm sorry too." He them pressed his lips to my forehead. "I can't help that I am possessive." He then kissed my cheek. "And he really was looking at you. He wants you Arthur."

I then giggled softly. He sounded like a small child trying to argue why he should use a toy first. My lips reached up to touch his cheek tenderly and I gave him a coy grin. "I apologized, and I forgive you." I then pulled my plate into my lap and looked at him pointedly. "Now here is where we have a problem. I will eat these occasionally, so long as you swear to not make them this greasy anymore." I scolded. He blinked childishly and then gave me a familiar smirk.

I found myself staring into dark blue eyes, filled with dirty promises and sudden desire. "What will you do if I don't?" He asked huskily, and I would be lying if I claimed I didn't like it. My cheeks went red and I decided two could play this game of teasing.

"Well then there would have to be a repercussion." I replied smoothly, making my tone even. The only indication of surprise I got from his was a slightly cocked eyebrow. I wasn't going to settle just for that.

"Such as, Mr. Kirkland?" This time I shuddered in slight arousal. Damn him and a southern drawl.

"Well, perhaps I won't eat your food." I murmured, leaning in closer. "Or, I won't kiss you…" I then let my hands touch his sides daringly. "Or, you shall sleep on the couch downstairs."

I smirked at the soft noise he made as my fingers touched his skin. He gazed at me feverishly and I kissed him softly. "Shit, you are a tease." He groaned. I pulled away with a light and airy laugh, which soon escalated into something louder and more organic. I hadn't had an honest laugh since I'd left my home. I blinked to see Alfred smiling at me gently and I did the same in return.

"Arthur." He said. I stared at him curiously and he kissed the tip of my nose. "Is it too early to say I love you?" At that I shook my head and blushed.

"Certainly not Alfred, certainly not."

I let out a soft breath as I lied down to sleep. Something felt off about the air, but I brushed it off as nerves from being somewhere new. When I finally got around to closing my eyes, simply because Alfred was taking too long to come to bed, I found it surprisingly easy to fall asleep.

If only I knew why.

A moment later I found myself shivering, all alone in frozen tundra. I shook violently before setting my eyes to look around the whole landscape. It was so barren… devoid of life.

"It is where I grew up." A Russian accented voice said calmly from behind me. I spun around, absolutely shocked. I then saw a large and very broad man before me. The snow flurry that had previously encompassed the land was now gone, an eerie silence now deafening.

I stared for a moment before suddenly my eyes widened. "You're Ivan aren't you?" I whispered. A small smirk appeared on the others childish face.

"Da, and since you know about me, I can assume that Alfred told you about me Arthur?" He replied. I shivered his voice cold like ice. I nodded in simple response and stepped away cautiously. This may be a dream of sorts, but I couldn't say I was safe.

At my movement, purple eyes lit up in delight. "It's good you are afraid of me Arthur." He said. "I can see you are still human, as well as the fact you have left England." He then chuckled. "I still use the old names, if you are confused."

Then his eyes turned serious. "The solstice approaches. I can see that Alfred has moved you to protect you. What he doesn't know is that it won't help you." I froze and whined softly at that.

"How so?" I piped up, my green eyes defiant and angry. How dare this man come in and tell me this. Purple eyes turned a deep crimson and I found myself on my back in the snow.

"Just because this is not real, doesn't mean I can't hurt you little one." He hissed and dug his fangs into my neck. My face twisted into a grimace and it hurt so badly. Not like Alfred's at all; I then frantically pushed at his chest and cried out in pain.

After a few moments he pulled back and smirked. "Just remember this, Arthur." His lips went near my ear. "You cannot escape me." And with that my dreams melted to black and I didn't know anything else until the morning.

Alfred's pov

I frowned as I watched the other sleep. It took me a while to fall asleep myself and I usually watched Arthur for a while… and no, I wasn't being creepy.

In any case, he looked troubled. His eyes were furrowed and his soft and pale skin was clammy and slick with a cold sweat. I sighed softly and touched his soft blonde hair. It was obvious he was having a nightmare at the most, or at least a conflicting dream. I pressed my lips to his forehead and watched until his face finally went lax and he fell into a more peaceful sleep.

Hey, so I finally finished. I must manage my time better. I also don't really like this chapter, it feels a bit rushed and probably is. I more than likely will go back and edit it within a few days before starting my next chapter but I didn't want to keep you all waiting on this for any longer. I also wanna say how amazing you all are. In little more than 8 days, over 1000 of you read the authors note. Truly, you guys are amazing. Thanks so much for being patient and expect my next chapter for Mine in about a week or so, and the next of Moon Stalkers in another week, give or take a few days. Hope you at least enjoyed the chapter and I shall post the next chapter after I revise this one. Until then, Ciao. :)
