Chapter 40: Decisions
Relief flooded Jenny as Dimitri released his hold on her hair and pulled the away from her temple, laughing he walked over and slammed Dan on the back.
"I knew you would choose wisely Humphrey."
She looked beside her to see Lucas pale and rigid, glaring at Dimitri, his hand on his gun.
"May I have a moment with my sister before I leave?" Dan asked in a calm manner. Dimitri seemed agreeable and nodded.
"Five minutes. Then we drop you."
Dimitri signaled to Lucas, Alek, and the other guy that had brought Jenny in and shut the door behind him.
"Are you ok Jenny?" Dan asked instantly.
"Ok? I was just kidnapped?! And what the hell Dan? You can't do this? What are you thinking? You can't bring Blair to Dimitri? She demanded. "You honestly can't be thinking about doing what he asks?!"
"Jenny…it's complicated." Dan sighed meeting his siste'rs eyes. "I have a plan but I just need to you to hang in here while I figure this out. I'm so sorry I got you involved!"
Jenny could see the tears forming in her brothers eyes. Instantly her heart broke for him.
"Dan. It's ok. I'm ok." She tried her best to reassure him. "And you didn't get me involved. These Russian assholes—they tricked us all. Just don't worry ok… I'll just try to lay low until you come back for me."
Dan nodded his head sighing deeply.
"I'll never stop worrying about you Jenny. You're my baby sister." He smiled.
Before Jenny could respond the door to the office opened once again and Lucas had her up and out of the chair.
"No wait! Dan! I want to say goodbye!"
Lucas ignored her and continued to usher her out of the room.
"Jenny! I'll come back!" Dan shouted as she was led out of the room.
Lucas led her down the hallway they had come from and into a foyer, making a left and taking her up a flight of stairs. When they reached a bedroom on the second floor he untied her hands. She whipped around glaring at him, rubbing her wrists. He didn't make eye contact with her but looked down at the ground.
"I'll bring you some dinner in a little." He spoke softly still averting his eyes from hers.
"I'm not hungry." She spat. "Don't bother."
She was even surprised by the hatred in her voice. He looked up at her then hurt and sadness filling his eyes. She felt her heart twinge at the sight of it, but she quickly squashed those feelings and fought to keep the glare on her face.
He nodded and turned to go, but before he closed the door he turned back to face her.
"It was real for me…you were real."
And with that he shut the door leaving her.

Blair knitted her fingers together nervously as her car service approached the CPD. Erin had called her announcing a lead. She didn't want to get her hopes up. It had now been 36 hours since she had last seen Dan.
Dan.
The thought of him made tears swell in her eyes. Would she ever see him again? The thought made her instantly sick to her stomach.
"B. It's gonna be ok."
Blair looked over at her best friend and tried to smile. Serena and Nate had arrived the evening before and hadn't left her side since. Serena took her hand and squeezed it.
"Thanks S. I just…I really hope this leads us to Dan…I…" her voice cracked.
"We'll find him." Nate smiled reassuringly.
They pulled up to the Chicago Police Station, her driver opened the door allowing them all to step out. Erin was waiting for her on the stairs with a grin on her face.
"Of course you arrive in style." Erin grinned.
"You said you have a lead." Blair begrudgingly smiled ignoring Erin's witty snub.
"That I do." Erin nodded, "Who are your friends?"
Blair turned around and smiled at her best friends. "This is Serena van der Woodsen and Nate Archibald. They arrived last night and anything you have to say to me you can say to them."
Erin smiled and turned leading them up into the building. "This way then."
Blair took in her surroundings and all the other officers and convicted felons swarming the main lobby. She followed Erin closely sensing Nate and Serena not too far behind. Erin went up a second set of stairs and put a code in allowing for a gated door to open and motioned for them to follow. When they got to the top of the stairs she saw an office space with some faces she recognized, one of them being Detective Voight whom she had come to trust due to Cyrus's strong confidence in the man.
"Detective Voight." Blair nodded in his direction. "Nice to see you again."
"You too Blair. I'm happy to see you're well. And ah are these friends of yours?" He nodded at Serena and Nate.
"Yes. Very close friends. Please meet Serena van der Woodsen and Nate Archibald."
Voight held out his hand in greeting.
"Detective Voight." He smiled shaking both Serena and Nate's hands.
"Nice to meet you." Serena smiled.
"Yeah thanks for all that you are doing for Blair and Dan." Nate nodded.
"We are trying." Voight frowned. "We are determined to bring Dan home."
Blair nodded in thanks but her eyes quickly latched onto the white board at the front of the office. Dan's picture was on the board along with hers, Cyrus, Georgina's, Dimitri's, Milo's, Alek, Leo, and another face-she didn't know him but she recognized his face. She starred for a long moment processing the information.
"His name is Vince." Erin spoke up beside her.
"Vince." Blair whispered more to herself. "That sounds familiar."
"He matched one of the men you identified and was also captured on a local security camera purchasing a child's batman cape a day after Georgina and Dimitri would have arrived in the city."
Erin handed Blair a picture of the security footage to back up her lead. Blair took in the picture recognizing the man that went as Vince. Memories instantly took her back to that night when she and Dan had been held captive. The night he had made her promise to run. She shook her head trying to rid her mind of the memory.
"Blair?" Erin asked noticing her temporary lapse.
"I'm fine." Blair waved her off. "Just fighting off some demons."
Erin smiled gently and took a small step towards her.
"We don't have too…"
"Can you find him?" Blair cut Erin off turning back around to Voight and his team. "Do you know where Milo might be? Where Dan might be?"
She searched their faces hoping to see confirmation in their faces, but instead most of them didn't make eye contact, all except Voight.
"I have someone who would like to speak to you."
Leaving Serena and Nate with Erin, Voight led her down a short hall way into an interrogation room. That was where Blair found herself face to face with Olivia Wallace. Blair couldn't help but be surprised by the lawyer she and Dan had hired to file paperwork for her parentage.
"I thought I would come to you." Olivia started pulling out a file from her bag and pushing it over to Blair.
"What are you going here?" Blair asked, unable to help herself.
Olivia looked mildly surprised by the question.
"You and Dan hired me. I'm just here to finalize my job."
Blair looked at her unsure, but picked up the file and opened it.
"The state of New York has awarded you with the rights of guardianship for Milo. Seems all of this media attention did you some favors after all."
Blair couldn't help but let out a joyful sob at the paperwork in her hands.
"But how?" She asked unsure.
Olivia smiled.
"I filed the day after you were married, and with the media circus following the abduction and the current warrant for arrest on Georgina and Dimitri the state of New York pushed it through and settled in your favor. Congratulations Mrs. Humphrey. As far as the court is concerned you are now Milo's legal mother."
Blair froze in shock as she looked down at the file in her hands. Tears quickly followed as she opened the folder. Instant relief swept her as she confirmed Olivia's words as she quickly read the certificate and court documents. She wiped at her tears streaming down her cheeks as soon as she realized Olivia was still in the room with her.
"Olivia…" Blair looked up from the folder in her hands. "…thank you so much. You…you have no idea how much this means to…"
Olivia held her hands up and smiled.
"Blair. You and Dan love Milo. I could see it. I like it when the good guys get a win."
Blair felt more tears come to her eyes at that. The good guys win. But was it a win? Without Milo—without Dan what did she have? Nothing.
Blair said her goodbyes to Olivia and escaped the room before she broke out into sobs. She found a stairwell that extended down. When she opened the metal door at the end of the stairwell she found herself in a garage of some kind.
"Blair?"
Blair jumped at the sound of Erin's voice.
"Erin!"
"What are you doing down here?"
She didn't sound mad, Blair noted, just surprised, but still she got the impression that this was a place not visited too often by friends and family.
"I just needed to…get some air and I didn't know how to get back out and I saw it was a staircase and…"
"It's ok." Erin cut her off with a worried smile. "Let's just get you back up to Serena and…"
That's when Blair heard it.
"Blair Humphrey." The voice chuckled. "We meet again."
She spun around to find a bloodily looking man grinning at her from behind a mental fenced cage. She gasped in shock as she took in his familiar face. A cold chill ran up her spin as Voight entered the garage the way she had come in. Voight stopped at the sight of Blair and glowered at Erin.
"Erin!"
"She just showed up. I didn't bring her down." Erin attempted to explain.
"I don't care how it happened just get her out of here. She can't see this."
With that Erin turned Blair away from the blooded man and towards the metal door she had come through. She swung her head back to see Voight walking up to the cage slowly rolling up his sleeves before the door shut behind them.
The man was Vince.

Jenny checked her room from top to bottom—examining it for any possible escape and was pissed to find no such luck. She could how ever hear the convo's between the chef down in the kitchen and his helpers from the air vent on the right side of the room. She was intently listening to Dimitri's meal requests when her door sudden opened. Shocked at the sudden arrival she scampered across the floor and to her feet just in time to stand in front of Alek.
Fear ricocheted throughout her body leaving her momentarily parallelized.
"Hello…eh…Jenny." Alek grinned, his eyes taking in every inch of her body.
Jenny flinched as his eyes traveled the length of her.
"Get out!" She said through clenched teeth.
Alek grinned and seemed only intrigued by her fierceness.
"You won't be with us much longer…" Alek smile widened taking a few steps toward her, "…so I figured we might as well have a good time."
She backed away from him hitting the wall only moments before he slammed his body against hers, his mouth over hers. She screamed and hit him as hard as she could but the guy was a rock. She realized quickly that he could over power her if he wanted too, and that just pissed her off more. She let him lead her to the bed and when her back hit the soft sheets she shifted her weight and brought her knees up as hard as she could. His mouth broke away from hers, letting out a loud grunt. Quickly she flew off the bed grabbing the night lamp and slamming the Russian asshole across the back of his head as hard as she could. When he didn't move again she ran for the unlocked door.
The hallway was empty but she could hear footsteps approaching from the stair case. Quick as she could she flew down the hallway and ran into a room and the end of it, shutting it quietly, hoping to avoid attention. She turned the knob to lock it and spun around to find Lucas starring at her. Shock once again claimed her as she felt herself go into that paralyzing fear.
"Jenny?" He asked in disbelief.
"Sta…stay away from me!" Jenny finally managed to murmur, pushing herself against the door.
"Jenny…pleases…I…" Lucas said softly taking a step closer to her.
She could see now that he was in a towel only, and damn her, she felt her face flush with the heat of desire for him. She wanted him for some reason now more than ever.
"Stay away from me Lucas!" She whispered fiercely. He stopped at the use of his real name.
Suddenly they heard shouts and screams coming down the hallway. Without a moment's hesitation Lucas grabbed her arm and pulled her from the door leading her to his closet. He pulled the paneling back at the back of the closet and shoved her into the tight space. It was dark and damp and smelled of mold and she freaked when he started shutting her in behind the panels.
"Would you please shut the fuck up!" He whispered back just as fiercely before slamming the last panel shut in front of her face. She heard his push the clothes back and shut the closet door. She sat there for a moment perplexed about what had just happened before she heard Lucas's bedroom door fly open.
"Lucas!"
She heard Alek's voice.
"Uncle Alek?" Lucas asked sounding confused. "What's wrong?"
There was a moment of silence that made Jenny feel uncomfortable.
"Jenny…Dan's sister—she managed to…"
"Escape?" Lucas asked, almost in a smart ass tone Jenny thought.
"Listen here fuck up. If I find out you had anything to do with this—I will put the bullet in your skull myself. I know a traitor when I see one."
"Just because I admitted to Uncle Dimitri that I had developed feelings for her doesn't mean it makes me weak. It makes me honest."
"Dimitri is a fool for letting you live."
"Glad he is in charge then." Lucas bravely stated.
There was another moment of silence.
"There will be a day when Dimitri is no longer in charge. When that day comes you best disappear. Search the room!"
Jenny's heart lept to her throat as she heard the smashes and bumps of Lucas's room being torn apart, but she went cold with fear when she hear the closet door open up. The clothes moved in front of her. She closed her eyes and prayed. Prayed that they would leave.
"Nothin here Alek." A man's voice said very close to her.
"Alight. Check the attic too. She couldn't have gone far."
Footsteps retreated out of the room and Jenny felt some of the tension leave her body, only to return when the closet door opened and a panel was pulled back to reveal a now dressed Lucas standing above her.
"Here." He said handing her some clothes. "If I'm going to get you out of here we need to disguise you."
Numbly she took the clothes but couldn't help but just to stare. His eyes met hers for a brief moment before he ushered her towards his bathroom to change. That was all she needed to see. The pain, regret, passion, and love. That was all she needed to see.

Halfway up the stairs Blair found her voice again.
"Erin! Stop!"
Erin ignored her and resisted Blairs attempted of pulling her arm from her strong grasp.
They got to the top of the stairs and down the hallway, where Erin pulled her into a common area and slammed the door behind them.
"Listen Blair…"
"That was Vince! That was the man that bought the cape!"
"Yes but Blair…"
"Voight! Did…did Voight do that to him?"
"Blair please…"
"I need to talk to him! I need to ask him where Dan is!"
Erin walked the couple steps to Blair, placing her hands on her shoulders firmly.
"Blair. Voight is doing that right now. We just need to be patient and…
"Patient?!" Blair screeched pushing Erin's hands away. "You want me to be patient?! That's all I have been!"
Erin took a step back and sighed.
"I understand…"
"No you don't Erin! Don't say that! Don't say you understand because until you have your son kidnapped by his biological father who is a Russian mob asshole and then takes your new husband and love of your life away from you—then please! Please don't say that you understand because you have no idea what I have been going through or what I wouldn't do to get Dan and Milo back!"
Erin crossed her arms and just starred at Blair, sympathy reflecting in her eyes.
"I'm sorry Blair." She sighed. "You're right. I don't understand losing my son or husband…but I do understand losing a loved one. Not knowing what happened to them and always wondering where and what they are doing…if they are safe. I know that feeling and I wouldn't wish it on anyone."
Blair sighed rubbing her hands over her face, feeling the tears threatening again.
"I'm sorry Erin…" Blair finally whispered. "I just got…I'm just getting pushed to my breaking point every day. Seeing Vince. It just made everything so real again and gave me hope and…"
"Hey…" Erin guided Blair towards the couch to their left. "Stop apologizing. You have nothing to be sorry for."
They sat down as Halstead opened the door.
"We have a lead."

After having Jenny taken from him, Dan was blindfolded and once again thrown into a trunk of a car. He grunted in pain and cussed at them loudly before they slammed the trunk in his face. This shit was getting old. They took off quickly making him slam his head against the back of the car.
Swearing loudly he shifted himself in a way he could brace himself in case any other surprise turns or take offs resulted in injury. He already looked bad enough. He didn't want Blair seeing any more than she needed too.
Blair.
The thought of seeing her again made Dan's heart race—excitement, joy, fear—he didn't know what Dimitri had planned necessarily but he knew that he was up to something. That thought left him worried and conflicted. Something didn't feel right. Why would Dimitri let Jenny go—he didn't have to? He would probably kill her the moment Dan and Blair crossed the threshold of the Manor. No, he didn't trust Dimitri with the life of his sister or his wife. So what was he to do? What if Dimitri had men inside the CPD- then who could he turn too? He knew Blair would believe him but who else? Cyrus?—No after the accident he was most likely dead if not in critical condition in a hospital…Maybe Serena and Nate? No…he couldn't ask them into this. He wouldn't put anyone else in danger. He would resolve this, even if it meant his own life.
