Chapter 43: Finally

The unmarked patrol car slowly rolled up to 2365 Copperfield Lane with lights off. Erin could see a black Honda accord outside an entrance on the right side of the building.

"Do you know what Jenny was driving?" Erin whispered behind her.

"Not a clue." Blair answered taking in the scene in front of them. "She just told me where she was going and to stay away from Dan."

Erin laughed to herself. Sounded like Jenny had been in a hurry.

"I think I see another entrance to the right there." Halstead pointed out. "Should I…"

"No." Erin grabbed his leg, pointing to the top of the building above that door. "Security camera. They will know we are here and we will lose our advantage."

"We need a distraction." Halstead said more to himself.

"I'm good at those." Blair chimed. Lindsay and Halstead ignored her.

"Maybe if we approach the building from the west. I don't see any camera's that side." Lindsay continued to Halstead.

"Nah. They will for sure have cameras on that side as well. We are talking about mobsters. Mobsters are paranoid pricks." Halstead laughed.

"Um excuse me!" Blair glared at them from the back seat. Halstead and Lindsay finally turned to look at her. "I have an idea."

Halstead and Lindsay shared a look of worry.

"Shoot." Halstead grinned, interested.

"How attached are you to this car?" Blair asked returning his grin.

Jenny cursed under her breath for the billionth time, highly annoyed at her poor picking lock abilities. Milo was on the other side of this door. Her precious nephew Milo. She was this close to holding him in her arms—this close to returning him to Dan and Blair. She heard the floor board creek behind her and whirled around just in time to see Georgina lunging for her. They collided heavily and rolled. Georgina grabbed a good bit of Jenny's hair and pushed her onto her stomach, pinning her. The pain pissed Jenny off and she rebounded by whirling herself around sending Georgina into the hall way wall. Georgina let out a yelp as her head bounced off the wall and growled deeply. Jenny tried to scramble to her feet—to get away but two big men appeared at the end of the hallway.

"Shit!" Jenny swore looking back and forth between Georgina and the big men.

"Did you really think I didn't know you were there?" Georgina grinned wickedly. "We knew it had to be Lucas who helped you escape."

"If you're so smart Georgina, then why…" but she stopped herself. She didn't want Georgina to know that she had spoken to Blair. That could be her only saving grace now. She cared for Lucas, but had no idea where his loyalties lied. To her, he seemed torn between a family he has known his whole life and feelings for her that left him confused.

"Then what little J?" Georgina teased. She nodded to the men behind them and they walked forward taking Jenny by the arm roughly. "Run out of smart ass things to say?"

"Where's Lucas?" Jenny finally asked.

"He is with his uncle." Georgina beamed. "We are going to see them now." She motioned to the men and the next thing Jenny knew they were leading back down the hallway she had come up and down the opposite one Lucas had left her at. They took a couple turns and entered what looked like a big office with a hug desk and leather couches and chairs allow with a huge glass windowing taking in the beautiful forest view outside. She looked over and saw Lucas sitting on one of the leather couches, giving her a look of apology. The men tossed her at Lucas and she fell into him awkwardly. He gently helped her catch her balance and placed her next to him on the couch.

"How far did you get?" Lucas whispered.

"Does it matter?" Jenny bit back.

"I didn't know he would…"

"I saw him ok." Jenny broke in. "Milo. He is here, but I couldn't get to him before that bitch got to me."

Lucas looked over to where Jenny was glaring and met eyes with his new Aunt. He smiled faintly at her and looked back down.

"I'm so sorry Jenny." He started. "I didn't realize that my uncle had…"

Erin Lindsay had to give it to Blair Humphrey. This plan was inspired.

"Do you have a light?" Erin asked Halstead once they had finished pouring the gasoline over the car.

"Yeah." He replied throwing her a lighter.

"Now remember." Blair interrupted taking charge again. "Once the car is lit, Halstead you run to the west, while Blair approaches from the east and I approach from the south."

"Got it." Halstead beamed. Erin suspected Blair was starting to grow on him.

"Now where is my gun?" Blair asked holding her hand out.

Erin and Halstead hesitated.

"I don't know if…" Erin started.

"Erin! I need weapon." Blair glared. "You can't expect me to rush a building full of Russian mobsters without a weapon?"

Erin sighed and rolled her eyes. When she said it that way, Blair had a very good point, but she knew Hank was going to have her ass in the morning.

"Just promise me you won't kill anyone." Erin groaned handing Blair her spare.

Blair beamed and checked chamber of the gun, slipped the safety off and back on and then shoved it behind her back into her belt like Erin had once showed her.

"Promise." She smiled pleased.

"Save it Lucas." Jenny cut him off.

"No Jenny. I can…"

Dimitri walked in making Lucas stop talking all together. Jenny looked up at the man who had started all of this and felt bile rise in her throat.

"Ah!" He laughed seeing Jenny and Georgina sitting with Lucas. "Now it's a party!"

Georgina laughed as well as the other two brutes who had brought her in, but she didn't laugh, and neither did Lucas.

"Darling." Georgina chimed in. "I found this blonde little brat trying to break into our son's room!"

Jenny looked up at her and glared. Georgina sounded seriously fake and acting like she had been surprised when she really wasn't. It made Jenny feel like she was the butt of a joke. She looked over and Lucas and felt like she wanted to cry. They had known. They had known he would have her. She felt betrayed again. How could she have been so stupid to trust him again after everything? She was an idiot! She could see him panic-the fear in his eyes when he saw the despair in her own.

"I didn't know." Lucas started trying to explain. "I mean I didn't know he knew I had you. I…"

"What my nephew is trying to say Jenny is that he was outwitted." Dimitri laughed taking a seat at his desk. "We knew that if he had a chance to save you he probably would. He cares for you deeply. Do you know that?"

Jenny took a deep breath and forced herself to look away from Lucas and met Dimitri's cocky gaze.

"So you used your own nephew? Am I hearing you right?" She spat. "Even if I believed that, why does this all feel like a set up to me?"

"Because it is darling." Georgina smiled at her sadly, as if she felt sorry that Jenny hadn't caught on sooner. "Your boy toy over there is so sweet and overly predictable that it wasn't hard at all."

Lucas looked at her and glared.

"Enough." Dimitri said suddenly making Georgina's grin melt faintly. "Lucas." He then addressed his nephew. "Do we have a deal?"

Jenny suddenly looked to this man she had known for a short time but had shared so much, wanted an explanation—wanting to finally get some damn answers. He looked away from his Uncle and met her gaze. She could see the start of tears there. He was torn. It would be nice to know what he was torn about.

"What is going on?" She whispered to him. She could see he was close to losing it so she made herself turn her anger down and let the compassionate side rise up, the side she knew he would recognize in her.

His look of sadness and fear drained away, and she was once again looking into the eyes of a guy who she had just met at the hospital, who she had just shared a couple of drinks and kiss with. She closed her eyes and leaned her head forward until her forehead was pressed against hers.

"Tell me." She whispered again. "What is going on?"

She felt him shake a little then still, as if he had come to a conclusion. She felt his hand on her jaw, then glide up to her cheek, cupping it. She opened her eyes to see him looking at her tenderly. He leaned forward and kissed her. Gently he brushed his soft lips against hers. Her heart quickened in her chest and she felt a flood of compelling feelings. She hated this. She hated that she cared about him. But here they were. She did her best to smile but felt her eyes tearing instead. He pulled away and straightened looking from his uncle back to her.

"My Uncle Dimitri killed my father." He began

"Lucas!" Dimitri growled. "Stop! That is not what we…"

"My family has no idea and to keep that from happening my uncle thinks that if I give him my undying support that he will never be found out. That he will lead the family."

Jenny felt the blood drain from her face and looked over at Dimitri who was loading a gun.

"Lucas…" She replied faintly seeing his uncle behind him.

"In return for my undying support and allegiance, he wants to give me you."

The world stopped. She looked at him in utter disbelief.

"Excuse me?" She replied angrily.

Lucas opened his mouth to reply but stopped but the front barrel of a gun pressed to the back of his head.

"I can take you out just as easily as I did your father Lucas." Dimitri warned cocking the lever back.

"I won't have any more secrets between us Uncle." Lucas answered defiantly. "You can shoot me if you want, but I won't lie to her anymore."

Before Dimitri could respond, the two brutes who had escorted her into the office started to freak out. They were grabbing their guns and phones, pointing out the window. They all stood to see what they were pointing to. A car, lit up the night with flames, and was heading right for the building at high speed. The faint sounds of gun shots boomed from below. The two brutes took off towards the sounds of danger.

"For fucks sake!" Georgina screamed. "I'll go get Milo!" She yelled to Dimitri taking off out of the office.

Dimitri grabbed ahold of Jenny and pressed the gun to her head.

"Who did you tell?!" He demanded of Lucas

Lucas held up his hands, panicking.

"No one Uncle! I swear!" He yelled.

Dimitri glared at him, obviously not convinced and clicked back the lever.

"I'm sorry Lucas. I just don't believe you."

Lucas jumped for Dimitri knocking him and Jenny to the floor. Jenny scrambled to get away from them and suddenly saw a young man at the entrance to the office. She paused unsure but he held up his finger to silence her and flashed a badge. She felt her whole body sigh in relief. She looked back to see Lucas and Dimitri wrestling—the gun not two feet away from them as they both tried to get to it. Suddenly she could hear sirens I the distance and see the faint flash of red, white, and blue. The police officer threw himself into the fight successfully restraining, with the help of Lucas, Dimitri Markov. It wasn't until she heard the click of the handcuffs on his wrists that she let herself breath again.

Blair had saw Erin take out two men and enter the warehouse through the back entrance and followed close behind her, gun raised. She didn't want to shoot anyone but was prepared to. The warehouse was dark and oddly quiet except for the few grunts of fights in the dark and pops of gun shots directed at no one. It was hard to see anything in here. Blair hugged the wall and followed it the best she could, listening for any change around her. She was scared shitless, but she forced her mind to think about only one thing. Milo.

She closed her eyes and hugged the wall attempting to get it together. The distraction had worked, but she still had no idea if Milo was really here—or if Jenny was here.

"Blair!" Came a fierce whisper beside her. It made Blair jump. She turned to seen Erin right next to her. "You ok?" She asked concerned seeing Blairs distress.

"Fine." Blair snapped. "Where is Jay?"

"Halstead just took off up the stairs to the second floor and cleared it so far. Voight's not too far away with re-enforcements. Go back outside and wait for them."

Blair's first reaction was to say no, but she knew that meant a fight with Erin. So she nodded politely and started to sling away back towards the door. When Erin was convinced she was going she took off for the door that led to the second flood. Blair stopped her retreat and followed. She was going to get Milo back tonight.

Erin had rushed up the stairs. Blair waited a couple seconds hearing some grunts and a gun shot. She peered up to see Erin picking herself up off the floor, brushing herself off and then taking off again out of sight. The woman is a bad ass, thought Blair to herself.

Blair followed up the stairs silently and slowly. When she reached the top of the stairs she saw three men lying about. One in a camera room, and two here in the hallway before a steel door that was currently ajar.

Her heart raced with panic but something kept telling her to keep going. This could be her last chance to get Milo back and she would not spend the rest of her life wondering what if.

With a deep breath she slipped through the steel door and paused to listen. She could hear what sounded like a struggle to her right but didn't hear anything to her left, so she went to the left. It was dark with many rooms. She poked her head in each one, trying her best to see if anyone was hiding, but didn't find much. It wasn't until she reached a second hallway leading even farther right that she heard a voice that she had been listening for.

"What?" The voice teased. "Are you going to shoot us?"

"Please put the gun down." Erin asked patiently.

Blair looked down the hallway to see Erin standing outside of a room at the end of the hallway, gun raised.

"I will do no such thing!" Georgina yelled. "You are invading my home. Lower your gun!"

Blair felt more than saw Erin roll her eyes.

"Georgina Sparks. I have a warrant for your arrest. If you come willingly…" Erin tried.

"There is no chance of that." Georgina laughed.

Blair took a step down the hallway, then another. Erin suddenly looked up and saw her. She let her head fall back for moment in disappointment.

"I told you to go outside!" She glared.

"I couldn't." Blair frowned. "I'm sorry."

"Who is that?" Georgina demanded.

Blair stepped into the door frame next to Erin and lowered her gun and took in the scene in front of her. Her heart dropped. Georgina was holding a frightened Milo, pointing her gun at her and Erin.

"MAMA! MAMA B!" Milo shrieked when he saw her. His little body pushed and shoved against Georgina. Georgina screamed and stumbled back losing her balance, and that was all Blair and Erin needed. They both raced forward, Blair going for Milo, Erin going for Georgina.

It all happened so fast.

Erin tackle Georgina to the ground while Blair grabbed Milo pulling his warm body into her embrace and rolled them both to the other side of the bed.

Milo was sobbing, clutching her tightly, his legs wrapped around her waist and his arms around her neck. She didn't realize she was sobbing either until she felt the warm tears streaming down her face.

When the gun went off Blair feared the worst. She couldn't hear a struggle anymore either.

She forced Milo out of her arms and pushed him behind a dresser.

"Stay here baby." She begged in a whisper.

"But I scared." He pleaded back.

"I know baby." She cried. "But I will be right back. I won't let them take you every again! I promise!"

Milo had nodded his head bravely believing her. She nodded with a smile and kissed his cheek.

Quickly she walked around the bed, gun raised only to find Erin leaning over Georgina holding a blue blanket to her left abdomen, the color of red staining the blanket and the floor. Blair shuddered with the realization. Georgina had been shot.

Erin looked up to see her above them. Sirens sounded in the distance. Erin lifted her walkie and called it in.

"Have a woman down on the second floor. Requesting medic now for a civilian woman on second floor!"

Blair let her gun fall and clicked the safety back on. She felt bad—she really did. No one deserved to be shot, but Georgina had brought this on herself.

Blair stumbled back to the other side of the bed and fell to her knees. Milo was in her arms the second her knees hit the ground.

"Mama!" He cried passionately into her neck.

"It's alright my love." She soothed hugging him tightly. "Everything is going to be alright. Mama has you now."

She could feel his little body shaking with sobs of relief which made her sob as well. She finally had her little boy in her arms again.

Finally.

Milo was home.
