~*~Chapter 14~*~
The bright lights were so disorienting. I blinked a few times trying to clear my vision. My mother was back, and she was talking to the head doctor a few feet away from my bed. When the doctor realized I was awake, she turned to me and said, "I'm going to give you too some privacy before we get started."
"Started with what?" I asked, my question ignored. She walked out and my mom moved to my bedside. She held my hand, tears running down her face and said, "Kagome, you have a malignant tumor. It's in your brain and we think it may be causing these hallucinations you are having. They are prepping you for surgery to try to remove it. If they are successful, then you can go back to having a normal life." She patted my hand consolingly.
"A tumor?"
"Yes dear, on a vital lobe of your brain."
I didn't want to say it, but if they removed it then I would never see Inuyasha again I realized. I couldn't hold back my tears. It seemed too short of a time before doctors flooded back into my room, dressed and ready to perform the surgery. One checked my vitals while another emptied the contents of a syringe into my IV. A third doctor placed a mask over my face and instructed me to breathe in slowly and count backward from twenty. Unable to control the flow of tears I reluctantly obeyed. I could feel myself slipping into a deep sleep and allowed my eyes to close.
A.N: Sorry these next few chapters are super short, but I think I may have this story finished today if not then next week. We are nearing the end now, and Since I want to keep present day and feudal era separate chapters it is necessary.
