Renesmee Cullen and the Angel's Domain

Chapter 10: The Pylea Field Trip

Renesmee was woken early by Annabelle Weasley, captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team on Saturday morning. Renesmee looked at the alarm clock on her bedside table and groaned. "Annabelle, it's four in the morning," she mumbled through her blanket. "Can't this wait?"

"No, it can't wait," said Annabelle. "We need to be ready for our match against Ravenclaw today. Get up and meet for our early training." Renesmee, grumbling, got dressed and went to the locker room where their lectures were held. "Now, Roland Davies, the captain and Seeker, is getting very good at what he does. Ravenclaw beat Slytherin and we need to be ready if we're going to beat them."

Renesmee tried to listen to Annabelle, but she couldn't help but fall asleep. One of the Beaters nudged her in the ribs and she woke with a start. "What?"

"I was saying that I need you to only catch the Snitch if we're at least forty points ahead, Cullen," Annabelle said impatiently. "Do you understand that?" Renesmee scowled and nodded. "Good. Let's practice a little and then we can prepare for our match after lunch."

A few hours later, Renesmee sat at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall trying to eat her breakfast, which consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and buttered toast. Buffy and Dawn were at the staff table talking again. Renesmee watched them in case Dawn tried to toss Buffy over the table again, but nothing happened except that Scorpius tapped her on the shoulder. "Oh, hi, Scorpius," she said and hugged him tightly. "Are you going to support Gryffindor?"

"Don't I usually?" Scorpius said with a grin. "Besides when we play you in Quidditch, I mean." Renesmee laughed and touched his cheek lightly with her hand and he saw her thoughts. "Yes, I know you love me." Renesmee blushed and returned to her breakfast. "I thought you and I could visit Hagrid today...that is, if you want to."

Renesmee nodded. "Sure, I can visit Hagrid. How about right after breakfast?" Scorpius smiled and said to meet him by the entrance hall doors. "I'll be there. See you soon." She got up and was about to go to the entrance hall when Buffy came up to her. "Oh, hi, Buffy. How's Professor Rosenberg?"

"She's better, but that's not what I wanted to talk to you about," Buffy said. "I talked to Professor McGonagall and she gave me permission to take all of my D.A.D.A. classes on a field trip to Pylea after your match against Ravenclaw, so meet at the Defense classroom at precisely two o'clock." Renesmee nodded and Buffy ran off to meet Angel at the doors.

With the field trip to Pylea on her mind, Renesmee went to the Quidditch stadium and changed into the scarlet robes and grabbed her Firebolt. "Okay, everyone," Annabelle said grinning, "let's play hard and have fun." That was the shortest pep talk they ever had, and Renesmee was grateful for that as the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor teams hovered in the air in a circle over the grassy field. Madam Hooch had the captains shake hands and let the balls loose. One of the Gryffindor Chasers scored the first goal against Ravenclaw.

After the score was 160 to 120, Renesmee found the Snitch as well as the Seeker and zoomed after it. At first, she and Davies were side-by-side, but Davies bumped her out of the way and zoomed after the Snitch. "Oh no you don't!" Renesmee growled and sped up to catch up to her opponent. Davies looked back, his eyes wide as she came at him fast and he swerved out of the way in fear of getting hit. The Snitch zoomed straight upward to the clouds and she followed it, then it dove downward, and she followed it still. A Bludger was hit from the Ravenclaw Beater but Renesmee dodged it and went faster. The Snitch got closer and closer and she felt the cold metal in her hand as she caught the gold walnut-sized ball.

"GRYFFINDOR WINS 300 TO 120! GO GRYFFINDOR!" came Willow Rosenberg's voice magically magnified from the commentator's podium. "GRYFFINDOR WINS THE INTER-HOUSE QUIDDITCH CUP!" Renesmee landed on the ground with the rest of the team and accepted the gold trophy handed to her by Annabelle.

AFter the match, everyone was talking about how well Renesmee did. Even the Ravenclaws were congratulating her on her performance. "Congratulations, Miss Cullen," he said proudly, "You did wonderfully. Probably better than Potter."

"Sorry, Professor," said Renesmee, "but I am in no way a better Seeker than you or Harry Potter." Professor Malfoy smiled and went to his office in the dungeons.

Renesmee entered the Defense classroom and saw every third year there. Buffy was at the front of the class with Angel, Spike, Lorne, Renesmee's parents, Emmett, Rosalie, Jacob Black and Harry Potter. Buffy placed the tip of her wand to her throat and her voice was magically magnified when she spoke over the chatter. "Okay, I need everyone to settle down." she said and, once they were quiet, she spoke in normal volume. "Wesley, here, is going to open the portal to Pylea and we'll go in, but Lorne has a warning for you all. Lorne, go ahead."

The green demon stepped forward and said, "Okay, kids, I just want to warn you that everyone in my home dimension treat humans like slaves and call them Cows. So, don't be offended if one calls you that and, please, do not get into any trouble. Any questions will be answered while in the dimension. Thank you." Wesley Wyndham-Pryce opened the portal to Pylea and everyone stepped through it in single file. "Now, as I sad before, Pylea has no music. It's like a curse to them." Once in Pylea, Angel whispered something and Lorne shook his head. "No. Not happening, Angel."

"Come on," Angel encouraged, "just for the kids to see how they're really like." Loroe looked as if he were about to say something but he noticed Angel's expression and finally agreed. The green demon led everyone up a grassy hill and to a wooden house where some more green demons were.

"Krevlorneswath?" said a female demon curiously. "Is that you?"

"Mother!" Lorne said in false happiness. "Glad to see you." The female demon scowled. "Uh-oh."
"How dare you return after that disaster at the Bach-Nal years ago?" she screeched. "You and that dreadful sound! I knew I ate the wrong offspring. You are a shame to the family. Gorok, do the Dance of Shame!" Another demon started dancing and Lorne grimaced until an older green demon whispered something in her ear. "Well, well, if it isn't the savior of the human race."

"I didn't..." Angel began but it became clear that she wasn't talking to him. She was talking to Renesmee. "Oh."

"What is your name, Cow?" Lorne's mother asked. Renesmee felt nervous and a little scared. "Do you speak, young one?"

Buffy sighed. "She speaks, but when scared or upset, she uses physical contact to communicate. Just let her touch you and you'll see what she's thinking." Lorne's mother nodded once and Renesmee lightly touch her cheek.

"Renesmee...interesting name." said Lorne's mother quietly. "Well, Renesmee, you will join in the Bach-Nal." Angel's eyes widened and Renesmee looked at him. He gave her a 'I'll-tell-you-later' look and Lorne led them into town.

"Excuse me, Mr. Lorne?" said Rose raising her hand. Lorne looked at her. "What is a Bach-Nal?"

Lorne groaned and sat down on a tree stump. "A Bach-Nal is a festival held in the town square. Last time I came back here we had to save Cordelia but she was in the castle being a princess. Another friend of ours, Fred, was here for five years, about the time I ended up in the City of Angels, and Angel was asked to swing the Krevell, which is Pylean for axe."

"What was the Krevell for?" asked Albus curiously. Lorne shivered and didn't answer right away. When he did, however, the demon sounded scared.

"The Krevell, like I said, is an axe, Albus. Angel was asked to kill Fred by beheading her." Lorne answered. "I just hope they don't have her do it again. Oh! One more thing. Angel, don't go all demon on us again. I don't think we have anyone to distract you with blood this time."

The Bach-Nal, Renesmee found, was just as Lorne had described. The whole town came to the festival and Renesmee was draped in a scarlet cape and asked to tell a story to the kids. Renesmee sat on flat rock and decided to tell the story of when her family, the Cullens, faced the Volturi in hopes of saving her. "I am not a full human," she told them firmly, "nor am I a vampire. I am both and proud of it. A vampire found me one day and decided to tell a clan of vampires that I was an abomination, something unnatural in the vampire world. The Volturi decided to come and my clan wanted to prove that I was innocent and not dangerous." She looked at her father and he nodded. "My father will tell the rest of the story. I was ready to go into hiding at the time."

Edward sat down on the rock, his skin shimmering, and said, "The Volturi came and we stood firm, ready to fight if we needed to. Aro, the leader of the Volturi, said what he wanted and we said what we wanted. The others in the Volturi were itching to fight, but we stood our ground. Even the shape-shifters, wofmen, were helping us. Another half-breed named Nahuel testified that he also had the same problem. See, Renesmee's body grows until adulthood but her mind and left." The crowd around them cheered and Renesmee smiled. "Now what?"

"Renesmee, thank you for that heartwarming story," said one of the Pyleans. "Thank you."

"You're very welcome." Buffy said before Renesmee could say anything. "We're going home now." She led the group back to the open portal and they went back to the castle. "Okay, for homework I want a two-foot long essay on Pylea and their customs. If you need any resources, talk to Mr. Giles in the library or go to the book store in Hogsmeade on your next trip. The essay is due Tuesday when class begins. Enjoy your weekend." The class left and went on to their daily activities.

Late that evening Renesmee felt the need to talk to Giles about everything that was happening. She went straight to the library with her bag of homework and sat down at a desk. Giles came up and sat beside her. "A Knut for your thoughts?" he said kindly and she smiled.

"I was wondering why Willow's magic addiction came back after so long." Renesmee said. Giles thought for a moment and frowned. "Something wrong?"

"Renesmee, I believe the reason for all this is because Hogwarts has been around magic for over two-thousand years." he said. "Think, Renesmee. What would happen with a castle full of magic and students and teachers using magic on a daily basis and surrounded by magical wards and shields for thousands of years?"

"The magic around and inside it would seep into the walls and Hogwarts would become something like a sentient being, would it?" Renesmee said slowly. Giles nodded. "So you think Hogwarts is doing to this to her?"

"That and stress," said Giles nodding. "You know the story of how Willow became evil in the first place, right?" Renesmee shrugged. "Here's an idea. Ask Willow for the right memory. Tell her it's important. Then bring your Pensieve here and I'll show you exactly what happened that made Willow so evil in the first place. Then you'll understand." Renesmee nodded and went to the Charms corridor to find Willow.

The Charms professor was sitting at her desk in the classroom grading papers. A pen was scribbling correct answers and scratching out wrong answers. "Oh, hi, Renesmee," said Willow smiling. "Come in. What can I do for you? Help with homework?"

"Actually, no, but you can help me," said Renesmee sweetly. "I need a memory from you." Willow scrutinzed her and stepped down from the desk. "It's kind of important. I need it."

Willow walked toward her and stopped a foot away. "I know what memory you want, Renesmee, but you'll have to fight me for it." Renesmee felt scare d now. "Not a fight like Buffy would do, but a magical duel. If you win, I'll give you the memory. If I win, you walk away with nothing. I promise I won't hurt you...to bad."

"Fine," Renesmee said. "You want a duel? I'll give you a duel. When and where?"

"Here and now," Willow said, her eyes flashing black. "If you want that memory, we duel now." Renesmee whipped out her wand. "Very well. We can use wands. STUPEFY!" Renesmee dodged the Stunning Spell and retaliated with a Disarming Charm. "Good one, kid, but let's bring it up a notch. "RICTUSEMPRA!" A jet of purple light hit Renesmee hard but the hybrid stood her ground. "Oh, that's right. You're not normal, are you? Your skin is strong, but let's try your mind."

"TARRANTALEGRA!" Renesmee cried and Willow's legs started moving uncontrollably from the Jelly-Legs Jinx. "Feel like dancing, Willow?"

"Finite!" Willow said and her legs stopped moving. "Expulso!" Multiple bolts of orange light shot from her wand at Renesmee, who quickly cast a Shield Charm to block the attack.

"Confundo!" Renesmee cried. The spell's effect was instant. Willow was confused. "Expelliarmus!" The spell hit Willow and she flew over her desk and into the window. "Now, are you going to give me that memory?" Willow stood up panting. She raised her wand to her temple and withdrew a long strand of silver memory. Renesmee conjured a crystal bottle and handed it to Willow, who put the memory into the bottle. "Thanks. See you." Renesmee took the bottle and went back to the library, then to an open window and held her wand out. "Accio Pensieve!" The Pensieve in the girls' dormitory flew out the window and into her hand. "Okay, Mr. Giles, I have it."

"Good," said Giles smiling. "Now, I'll show you what happened." Renesmee poured the memory into the Pensieve and the two of them went into the memory. At first there was darkness, then the scene appeared. Willow was standing in a bedroom with a blonde woman. "That's Tara, Willow's deceased girlfriend. In this memory, she was alive." Renesmee smiled as Tara walked toward Willow to hug her, then jerked. Willow's eyes went wide.

"Willow..." said Tara, "your shirt." and she fell down to the ground.

"No!" Willow cried and ran to her side. "No! Come on, Tara! Come on, baby!" Tears ran down her cheeks as Willow realized that her girlfriend was dead. She raised her head and her eyes were coal black. The scene changed to the front yard of a house. Xander Harris was following paramedics who were wheeling Buffy on a stretcher. Willow walked out of the house and stopped to see Xander. "What happened?" she asked.

"Warren came after Buffy with a gun and shot her." Xander said. "We're taking Buffy to the hospital now."

"Warren." Willow growled and started walking away. Xander asked what happened and she said, "Tara's dead, Xander. Warren shot two times. One bullet hit Buffy but the other hit Tara through the bedroom window." Xander's eyes widened and he tried to speak but couldn't. Once he found his voice, he asked where she was going. "I'm going to find Warren."

The scene changed again but, this time, they were in a forest. Willow looked different. Her hair was black along with her lips and clothes. A young man was trying to talk to her, but she wasn't listening. Willow held up a small bullet. "So small," she said, "but yet so powerful." The bullet floated toward Warren's chest. "You see, bullet's don't just make a whole and kill someone. They obliterate every organ until you die. I want you to feel the pain I felt." The bullet went into Warren's chest and he screamed. "I want to hear you scream, Warren. Scream."

"Stop!" Warren cried. "I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry! I only meant to kill the Slayer, not your girlfriend!" But Willow didn't stop. "Willow, please! Please don't kill..."

"Silence!" Willow shouted and his mouth sewed itself shut. Even though his mouth was shut, Warren screamed. After a few minutes, she sighed. "I am going to let you speak, but you have to be quiet. Okay?" Warren nodded and she undid the spell.

"MAKE IT STOP!" WArren shrieked. "PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!"

"Bored now." Willow said raising her hand to chest height and pulling backward. Warren's skin tore off his body leaving muscle and blood. Renesmee screamed and shut her eyes as the skinless body erupted in flames and vanished when Buffy, Anya and a few others arrived. The memory ended there.

Renesmee was shaking with fear when she and Giles returned to the library. "So..." she gulped. "So, that's what happened? That's what made Willow so evil?"

"Yes," said Giles, "and she nearly destroyed the world afterward." He pointed to his chest. "I was in Devon, England at the time when this happened and visited a coven of Wicca. One of the Seers told me that Willow was in terrible anguish and gave me enough raw magic to try and stop her. Willow needed a power boost so she stole the magic I had."

"That almost killed you, right?" Renesmee said still shaking. "That's what Dawn said."

Giles nodded. "The magic Willow took from me was the essence of all good energy and the knowledge of everything. She felt the world's pain and went to King Man's Bluff to end the ,pain by summoning a demon master called Proserpexa. I told Anya to relay a message to Buffy: The Slayer cannot defeat Willow. No supernatural being can defeat her. The only person who could defeat Willow was Xander and he used an ancient magic everyone has. Can you guess what that is, Renesmee?"

Renesmee thought about it and remembered something that Harry told her two years ago. "Love." she said. "Love is the most powerful force, isn't it? That's what stopped her." Giles nodded. "So do you think...if she turns dark again...do you think Xander will be able to stop her this time?"

"I don't know," said Giles, "but I believe we don't have much time before Dark Willow returns to finish what she started. The magic in Hogwarts will give her enough power to destroy all of us and the world if she taps into it. We just need to find the source of the magic." Renesmee nodded. "Until then, let's go on with our daily activities. If the time comes that Willow should turn evil, it may be the end of the world as we know it." Renesmee stared into the fireplace and gulped. The end of the world? That's never good, she thought.
