Renesmee Cullen and the Angel's Domain

Chapter 11: Visions and More Problems

Professor Scamander was sitting in her office late Saturday afternoon grading essays on the star charts for her third year class when another vision hit her. She saw Darla and Drusilla looking at something on the ground. They looked terribly happy about what they saw. Then, the scene switched to a cave and she saw an old vampire she remembered from a book on the Order of Aurelius she read back in her sixth year. The vampire she saw was the Master and he was holding something in his hand: the Sword of Angels. Luna gasped when the vision ended and, instead of going straight to McGonagall like she did two years ago, she used her fireplace to go to Gryffindor Tower and strode up the stairs to the girls' dormitory. "Renesmee!" she whispered shaking the vampire-human hybrid. "Renesmee, wake up. It's important!"

"What time is it?" Renesmee yawned looking at her clock. Noon. Her eyes went to the source of what woke her up and saw Professor Scamander standing over her bed. "Professor, what's going on? Why did you...?"

"No time!" Luna said hurriedly. "Come with me." Renesmee dressed quickly and followed her Divination teacher to her office. Alice was there. "Alice, did you see the same thing?" Alice nodded. "I thought so. Renesmee, your aunt and I saw something terrible in a vision. First we saw Darla and Drusilla looking at something on the ground, but we don't know exactly what it is yet, then we saw a vampire Buffy Summers fought when she was sixteen called The Master. He's the leader of the Order of Aurelius and, in the vision, he was holding the Sword of Angels."

"What?" Renesmee cried shocked. "No! Your vision has to be wrong!" Luna shook her head and told her that her visions were normally correct. "But...but Buffy told me that The Master's bones were crushed to dust by a sledgehammer and they are now in the ruins of Sunnydale, which...if you didn't know...is a crater! Darla and Drusilla may be powerful, but..."

"Renesmee, Drusilla was killed by Angel years ago and Darla staked herself when Connor was born." Alice said. "How do you think they were revived?" Renesmee shrugged. "Whatever revived them will do the same to The Master no matter where he is now. If he's back, then we're all in trouble."

Renesmee groaned. "Why can't I go one year without someone trying to kill me or a vampire returning from the dead? I mean, can't I be a normal human-vampire hybrid just once?"

"Honey," Alice said pulling Renesmee into a hug and stroking her curly bronze hair, "that's just it. You're a vampire-human hybrid. Your life is never going to be normal." Renesmee groaned again and she laughed. "We just wanted to let you know what we saw, that's all. You know my visions. They will happen, but sometimes you don't know when it will happen."

Renesmee nodded and went down to lunch. Albus and Rose were talking when she got to the Great Hall and piled some food on her plate. Scorpius came up and wrapped his pale arms around her waist. "It's about bloody time you got up." he said softly in her ear. "I was waiting for you."

"Oh?" Renesmee said patting his hand with her own. "Well, you don't have to wait anymore, Scorpius. Today, I'm all yours." Scorpius smiled and asked her to meet him by the lake after she got done. "Okay, I'll see you there." Scorpius turned to walk away but he didn't get very far. "Oh, no you don't." she said and pulled him toward her. She stood up and kissed him on the mouth. "You aren't leaving without that, are you?"

"No," he said, "of course not." Her act of affection got a few whistles from the Slytherin table and a few laughs from the Gryffindor table as well. Scorpius blushed and walked away.

Renesmee returned to her lunch and noticed the looks Rose and Albus gave her. "What?" she asked after a moment of pure silence. "Can't I give my boyfriend a kiss?" Albus's mouth opened and shut like a fish and Rose's jaw dropped open. "Oh, you didn't know about us dating? Sorry. I thought you knew." Grinning, she left her two friends staring at her as she walked through the doors and outside. Renesmee walked across the grounds in the chilly November day with her coat in her hands. The frost on the grass crunched under her feet as she walked and found Scorpius sitting on the edge of the lakebed. "Hey," she said hugging him. "Sorry about earlier. You know how I get sometimes."

Scorpius nodded. "Butterbeer?" he said holding out a bottle of the frothy drink she liked in Hogsmeade. Renesmee took the bottle, opened it and took a swig. The warm, fizzy liquid warmed her up a bit. "I brought some Honeydukes sweets with me if you want some." He pointed to a pouch full of sweets. "I have Cockroach Clusters, Licorice Wands, Jelly Skulls, Bertie Bott's Every-Flavor Beans. I also have a bag of Edible Dark Marks from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes shop in Hogsmeade as well. George Weasley opened the Hogsmeade branch next to Zonko's."

"Great!" Renesmee said. "I'll have to go in and say hi to him on the next trip." She took a Cockroach Cluster and sniffed it. "Are there real cockroaches in here?" He nodded. "Oh." She took a bite anyway and grimaced. "Hmm...not too bad, really." Scorpius laughed and took a bite of a Licorice Wand. "So, what's your family doing for Christmas this year?"

"We're going to my grandfather's house...you know, Malfoy Manor...for Christmas again," Scorpius said. "We go every year, but Mum's family will be there, so the whole family will be together." He opened a box of Every-Flavor Beans and popped a green one in his mouth. "Hey! I can talk to Dad about letting your family and Albus's family spend time with us for Christmas. Grandpa Lucius and Albus's dad are somewhat friends. Maybe I can write to him and ask." Renesmee smiled. "So, how did you like the field trip Buffy took us on?"

"It was interesting, but at least Dawn didn't throw her across the Great Hall this time," said Renesmee with a giggle. "I really wasn't expecting to be called the Savior of the World or whatever. I haven't done anything yet." Scorpius laughed. "Want to see Hagrid like we were supposed to?" Scorpius nodded and they hurried off to Hagrid's hut and she knocked on the door. Hagrid opened the door and let them in. "Hi, Hagrid."

"Hello, Nessie," said Hagrid. "Hello, Scorpius. How are yeh two doin'?" Renesmee and Scorpius told them about the field trip to Pylea Buffy took them on. "Finally did it, did she?" he said. "Ar, I knew it was a matter o' time before Buffy took yeh there. Pylea's a dangerous place. Never beem there meself but I'd rather not think of the consequences. I'm half-giant and I don' know how the Pyleans will take ter a half-breed like me."

"They just don't like humans, Hagrid," Scorpius said. "They treat normal humans like me or anyone else at this school like house-elves. It's sick!" Hagrid poured them some tea. "What are you doing for Christmas this year?"

"Me?" Hagrid said with a laugh. "Why, I'm bringin' the Christmas trees ter the Great Hall, o' course! Why d'yeh ask, Scorpius?" Scorpius told him where he was going to be for Christmas and Hagird's beady eyes narrowed. "Sorry, but no can do. Yer granddad and me don' get along, yeh see. Put me in Azkaban years ago, he did, an' I never forgave him for it. Yer grandfather actually threatened the school governors into sacking Professor Dumbledore back then and they did as they were told. Threatened ter curse their families if they didn't."

"Well, that time's past, Hagrid," said Renesmee. "I'm sure Lucius will let you stay."

"Sorry, Renesmee," said Hagrid firmly, "but yeh can't talk me into goin'. Not even Harry Potter can do that, and he tried once or twice."

After their tea, Renesmee and Scorpius went back to the castle's entrance hall. "Well, this is where I leave you for the night, Renesmee," said Scorpius. "I'll see you in Potions tomorrow." They kissed and went their separate ways to their common rooms.

Renesmee walked up the stairs to the portrait of the Fat Lady who asked for the password. "Flibbertigibbet," she said and the Fat Lady let her in. Albus and Rose were sitting with James on a sofa near the fireplace when she entered the common room. All three looked up at her. "You're still not mad at me, are you?" she asked and they shook their heads. "Were you ever mad?"

"No," said Albus truthfully. "Surprised, sure, but never angry with you. How was your date?" Renesmee blushed and told them about Scorpius's invite for the Potters, Weasleys and Cullens to Malfoy Manor for Christmas. "I doubt Dad will go for it, honestly," said Albus. "What d'you think, James?"

"I dunno. Mum's not too happy with old Lucius for planting a Horcrux in her cauldron the year she started Hogwarts, but Dad's usually the forgiving type. I know he and Professor Malfoy are on good terms, though. We'll see what Dad tells us when we get ready to leave. He's been in and out of the Auror Office all week, swamped with reports." Renesmee grimaced as she opened her Charms textbook and started reading the chapter on Cheering Charms they were supposed to be learning. With Professor Rosenberg still on a magical hype, they were having trouble staying on task.

"Well," said Lily, "whatever Dad decides is good with me. I may just be in my first year, but I know our father, boys. Dad will no doubt say yes and take us there." James and Albus shrugged and started their own work. "Renesmee, could you help me with my Potions essay? It's on the Draught of Living Death and Professor Malfoy wants it by Tuesday." Renesmee went to Lily's table by a window and helped her with the basic facts. "Thanks. I understood most of the potion but the tricky part was the last few ingredients added."

"No problem, Lily," said Renesmee. "Anytime you need help, just ask me or Rose. She's pretty brainy, too." Lily giggled and went back to her work while Renesmee went to the girls' dormitory and went to bed. Before she could even crawl in bed, she looked out the window at the grounds. She saw Angel talking with someone in the darkness but couldn't tell who it was. Buffy, perhaps? No, Buffy was blonde and this woman was dark-haired. "Don't tell me he's talking to Drusilla?" Renesmee hissed. She crept down the stairs and through the portrait hole and down the staircase to the doors outside. Angel was just coming in. "Who were you talking to, Angel?" she asked casually. Angel stopped and stared at her. "Was it Drusilla?"

"No, it wasn't Drusilla," Angel said. "It was Faith. She asked me to help patrol tonight because she knew you had classes tomorrow. Now, go back to bed." When Renesmee didn't move, he sighed. "I promise that wasn't Dru, okay? Just..."

"No, it wasn't Faith either," Renesmee said. Who else did she know with black hair? She remembered the memory Giles showed her the night before. "Wait. Was that Willow? Did she go evil?" Angel's eyes betrayed him. "So it was Drusilla."

"Okay, it was," said Angel honestly, "but we didn't really talk much. It was more of a sire-versus-child fight. She wanted to fight you but I told her that you weren't she said something about you being too weak to fight and I kinda got ticked and we fought. Yes, I beat her ass for you." Renesmee smiled smugly. "Now, will you please go to bed?" Renesmee nodded and went back to bed.

The next day, Renesmee had breakfast and went to her first class of the day which was Transfiguration with Professor Finnigan. They were learning about Animagi. "Okay, can anyone tell me what an Animagus is?" Rose raised her hands. "Yes, Miss Weasley?"

"An Animagus is a witch or wizard that can physically transform into an animal at will." Rose said.

"Good. Ten points to Gryffindor. Now, an Animagus has to be registered with the Ministry explaining the markings visible so the Ministry can keep tabs on them." Professor Finnigan told them. "There are a few registered Animagi around but there is only one that I know of here in Hogwarts and that is Professor McGonagall who can turn into a tabby cat. Rita Skeeter is an unregistered Animagus and can turn into a beetle." The class copied this down on their notes. "I want you to read the chapter on Animagi in your textbooks for homework and list the instructions on how to become one." For the rest of the class period, the class learned the next Transfiguration subject: turning hedgehogs into pincushions.

After Transfiguration was double Potions with the Slytherins. Professor Malfoy set them to work brewing a Shrinking Solution. Renesmee took her spot next to Scorpius and they shared a book. "Ah, the lovebirds working together, I see," Professor Malfoy teased. "Remember, the ingredients need to be in the exact order the book says or you'll get it wrong." Renesmee nodded and started putting the ingredients into her cauldron. After a half-hour, Professor Malfoy stopped them. "You should have the first half of your ingredients in and your cauldron heated to the right temperature. Once this is done, follow the rest of the instructions and, when you finish with your potion, I want a flask of it on my desk with your name on it."

Renesmee put the rest of the ingredients in and followed the instructions when Scorpius whispered to her, "I talked to Dad last night and he talked to Mr. Potter. Potter said he'd think about it." She smiled. "Also, I thought you might want to go to Hogsmeade this weekend with me. I plan on stopping at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes and Honeydukes. Did you want to come?"

"Yeah, I was planning on it," said Renesmee. "It'll be great seeing George again." Scorpius nodded and resumed his work. After a few minutes of silence, she started another conversation. "Scorpius?" she said and he glanced at her. "I'm thinking of getting my hair cut. What do you think?"

"How short are you thinking?" he asked while stirring his potion. Renesmee put her hand just above her shoulders. "Oh. I think that will look beautiful on you, Renesmee." he whispered into her ear. "Just lovely."

"Thanks," she said. "I was thinking of having Hermione Weasley do it." Scorpius smiled. "So...you like that idea?" He nodded. "Great." The bell rang a little while later and she packed her bag and kissed him. "See you later." Scorpius waved as she left. Renesmee walked up the stairs to the entrance hall for Care of Magical Creatures and once she got outside, she saw Harry walking toward her. "Hey, Harry!" she said hugging him.

"Hi," he said patting her on the back. "Did you have a good morning?" She nodded. "I see you're off to Hagrid's for Care of Magical Creatures. He's got a good lesson for you. You're going to love it."

"I always do," said Renesee. "Oh, Harry, I want to talk to you about something later. How about during lunch?" He nodded. "Good. I'll see you later, then." She walked off to Care of Magical Creatures class and stood at the front of the group with Albus and Rose. Hagrid was standing beside a small crate when they got there. "What's in the crate, Hagrid?" Renesmee asked curiously.

Hagrid chuckled and said, "This, Nessie, is a Hungarian Horntail baby. Just hatched in Romania. Charlie Weasley sent it ter me yesterday." He opened the crate and a baby dragon with shiny black scales and bronze spikes along its back and tail walked out. "Dragons are very vicious when they're older, but they're cute and cuddly when hatched. I'm goin' ter teach yeh how ter take care of 'em." Hagrid showed them an assortment of spicy foods on the trestle table on the other side of him. "Dragons only eat spicy foods like peppers an' stuff. How abou' yeh come and help me, Nessie?"

Renesmee took a large red pepper and held it out in her hand. The baby Horntail walked up to her, sniffed her hand and ate the pepper. "He's cute, Hagrid. Have you ever owned a dragon before?"

"I have," said Hagrid, "and when it firs' hatched, I named 'im Norbert. I found out later that Norbert is really a girl by Charlie. Norberta is a Norwegian Ridgeback. Very rare." Hagrid explained. "I thought yeh migh' want ter know that dragon scales are used in potions and the heart-strings are used in most wand made by Ollivander and other wandmakers. Who has a dragon heart-string wand?" Most of the class raised their hands. "Right. Well, just to let yeh know, a lot of what I tell yeh will be on yer end-o'-the-year exams, so be ready for it."

Renesmee got a note from Dawn explaining that a Scooby Meeting was going to be held during lunch in McGonagall's office and lunch will be provided there, so Renesmee went straight to McGonagall's office and sat down to listen to the latest updates. "Okay," Buffy said, "what's the deal with Darla and Drusilla? How did they come back, Angel?"

"Well," said Angel, "Drusilla told me that Master Moloch found them and revived them in Los Angeles, then Jane from the Volturi turned them into the 'sparkly' type of vampire." Spike stifled a laugh and Angel glared at him then went on. "So, we know how they came back and why they can morph their faces like Spike and I can and that they can sparkle like the Cullens and Volturi."

"Okay," Buffy said. "Thanks, Angel. Any other business?"

Renesmee said, "I'm thinking of getting my hair cut..." Renesmee began but everyone started saying something. Once everyone finished talking, she went on. "...by Hermione."

Harry spit out his tea and said, "No. No, no, and bloody hell no!" Renesmee stared at him and he sipped his tea. "During our Horcrux hunt, Hermione was cutting my hair when she found something about the Sword of Gryffindor. She left half the back of my hair long, so no."

"Oh, come on!" Ron said. "Hermione was just distracted by what she found, that's all. Seriously, mate, you have to trust more people, especially your sister-in-law."

Harry shivered at the title and said, "All right. When are you thinking of doing this?"

"Probably Christmas," Renesmee said, but I'm going to see if I can get her to do it earlier." Harry went to the fireplace, threw some Floo powder into it and hollered Hermione's name. Hermione appeared in a flash of emerald fire and stepped onto the hearth.

"What is it?" she asked panting. "Harry, if this isn't an emergency, can it wait? I have a lot of things to do at the office today!"

"Sorry, sis," Harry said, "but Renesmee wanted to know if you could cut her hair. She wants to do it before Christmas." Hermione looked at Renesmee then at her watch. "What?"

"Come with me." she said and led Renesmee to the girls' bathroom on the first floor. "I'd rather not use the second floor bathroom. Moaning Myrtle haunts that one and she's rather annoying at times." Renesmee stood in front of the mirror with Hermione beind her. "Okay, show me how short you want it." Renesmee put her hand above her shoulders. "Hold your hand there for a second." Hermione traced along Renesmee's fingers and muttered, "Diffindo!" A few inches of hair fell to the floor. "Did you want anything else done to it?"

"I can do the rest, thanks," said Renesmee. Hermione nodded and walked her back to the Headmistress's office. "I have class soon, so tell Buffy and the others where I went, okay?" Hermione nodded again ad went up to McGonagall's office while Renesmee went to Charms class.

The next few days were cold and dreary. Everywhere Renesmee went in Hogwarts she saw dementors roaming around the area. Their hooded faces haunting her mind when she saw them and their rattling breath as the creatures sucked the hope and happess out of people in the vicinity was disturbing. Though Renesmee had no tragic experiences in her childhood or anywhere near where she was now, she could feel the hopelessness fill her up inside. Renesmee saw Harry walking through the grounds, his face covered by his cloak. "Hi, Harry!" Renesmee called and he turned. "Any news about the vampire attacks in London?"

"We found the vampires causing the deaths, but they refused to go to the Department for the Control of Magical Creatures office." he explained. "Hermione tried talking to them, but they wouldn't hear it. As for Darla and Drusilla, I haven't seen them."

"Okay," said Renesmee tugging the sides of her hat to her ears, "well, it's getting cold out and I have to get to Defense class." Harry nodded. "Would you like to come to Hogsmeade this weekend with Scorpius and me? Bring Ginny if you want."

"Thanks for the offer," Harry said, "but I may be busy all weekend." Renesmee felt he was hiding something, but didn't ask what would make him busy. "I have a meeting with a couple department Heads at the Ministry and two other Ministries from other countries on Friday at noon. I can't tell you what it is, though. It's top secret until Minister Shacklebolt chooses to disclose the information."

Renesmee rolled her eyes. "All right, well if you have a chance Saturday, come with us." Harry nodded and hugged her goodbye before she went to class. Buffy was putting on her jacket when the class walked in. "What's going on, Professor?" she asked.

"We're going outside for our lesson," Buffy said somewhat bitterly. "The spell I'm going to teach you is highly advanced magic and only one person has successfully mastered the spell. He taught me this spell over the weekend and suggested I teach it to you." The class followed her outside where a few dementors were floating near the greenhouses. "Today, you will be learning the Patronus Charm. Can anyone tell me what a Patronus is?"

Renesmee raised her hand and said, "A Patronus is like a shield of positivity. It repels a Dementor." Buffy nodded at her and called her up first then asked her to think of the happiest memory she could. Renesmee went through her memories and the happiest one she knew of was her first day of Hogwarts.

"The incantation is Expecto Patronum. Using that memory, you can produce a Patronus to defend yourself from the Dementors." Buffy said. "One or two of the Dementors here are going to try and attack you. Use the Patronus Charm on them."

Renesmee nodded and tried to concentrate on her memory. She heard the Dementor's rattling breath and raised her wand. "Expecto Patronum!" Silver light erupted out of her wand that looked somewhat like a shield. A Dementor charged at it but when it hit the shield it shrieked and backed away. Buffy asked her to try again but use another memory. "Okay," said Renesmee and she, once again, looked through her memories. Of course! Why not the memory of when she first kissed Scorpius? "I got it." she said. Buffy nodded to a Dementor and it came at her. "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" Renesmee's shoulder-length hair whipped backwards as a silver animal erupted from her wand. "Whoa!" she said.

"Oh my!" Harry shouted from behind the class. "It's a wolf!" Renesmee smiled at the large silver wolf that charged at the Dementor. When the creature moved back, the whole class erupted into applause. Harry clapped along with them and yelled, "You did it! You conjured a corporeal Patronus, Renesmee! Well done!" The large wolf vanished as Jacob walked up to the class wearing a lopesided grin.

"Good one, Nessie," he said. Jacob wore a pair of blue jeans and had no shirt on whatsoever. "I think I know which wolf you mean." He winked and walked away. Scorpius, scowling, stepped in front of him. "Hi, Scorpius. I bet you liked that?"

"Oh sod off, you dog." Scorpius sneered. Harry smiled as he realized that Scorpius's sneer was exactly like his father's. Jake looked suprised and followed the third year away from the group. "I don't know what made you say that, but I really don't appreciate you acting like that around my girlfriend."

"Oh, so you don't like when I'm around your girl, is that right?" Jake said with a grin. "Well, here's a news flash for you, kid: I don't like her that way, okay? I may have imprinted on her but..."

"You imprinted on her?" Scorpius said disgusted. "Why?"

"It wasn't my idea, Scorpius," Jake growled. "It's a wolf thing, okay? Hard to explain. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some hunting to do." Renesmee was watching the whole thing and gave a small smile as Jake jumped into the air and transforming into his wolf form. "Your boyfriend is starting to make me mad, Nessie," he said telepathically.

"I know," Renesmee whispered, "and I'm going to take caare of that." Jake winked and dashed toward the forest. Sighing, Renesmee followed Scorpius inside. "You know I only love him like a brother, Scorpius."

"Yeah, I know," said Scorpius, "but he really...does he have a clue what imprinting is?"

"The question," Renesmee said through gritted teeth, "is do you?" Scorpius stared at her. "Imprinting is a wolf's way of promising to protect me. When Jake imprinted on me when I was a baby, he pretty much became my bodyguard." Scorpius sighed in relief. "Yes, imprinting usually means having to be involved with their protector romantically, but I don't see him like that."

Scorpius grinned. "Sorry I acted like that, though. What did he mean by 'I know which wolf you mean'?"

"You saw him shift, Scorpius," Renesmee said, "so my Patronus took the shape of Jake's wolf form. That's what he meant." Scorpius nodded. "Now, I have to ask. Did you notice anything different about me?" She took off her hat and Scorpius smiled. "Well?"

"You got a haircut, that's for sure." he said. "I love it. Who did it?"

"Rose's mom." Renesmee said with a grin. "I asked her to do it though Harry asked me not to." Scorpius laughed. "I'm glad you like it, though. My hair was getting too long and..." she blushed a little as she said quietly, "...it kinda got in the way when we kissed." Scorpius laughed again and hugged her.

"I don't want anything else to change about you." he said. "I like you for who you are, not what you look like." Renesmee felt her cheeks burn with pleasure and nestled her face in his chest.

"Nothing else will change," she mumbled into his chest. "I promise." Scorpius grinned and Renesmee went to History of Magic to learn about witch hunts, which was boring even by Professor Lehane's standards. After History of Magic was Charms with Professor Rosenberg. Willow seemed normal but her eyes were a light grey. "Good afternoon, Professor," Renesmee said hurriedly as she went to her seat. Willow ignored this, raised her hand and a book flew into her hand.

"The Summoning Charm," she said, "is very useful. You will be learning this charm with and without a wand." Willow's eyes swept across the classroom, taking in every student and she grinned. "According to the Headmistress, you shouldn't be learning this charm until fourth year but I believe you can cope with it. The incantation for this charm is Accio followed by the object you wish to summon. For example." Willow whipped her wand out, pointed it at a book on her desk and said, "Accio Book!" A book flew into her hand. "Now you try."

Renesmee pointed her wand at a pillow across the room and whispered, "Accio Pillow!" The pillow she pointed at flew across the room and into her hand. "Cool!"

"Good job, Renesmee," said Willow smiling, "and good job to all of you. Ten points to Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. For homework, I want you to practice the Summoning and Banishing Charms and write down how long you practiced for." The bell rang fifteen minutes later and then it was time for dinner.

Renesmee, after eating in the Great Hall, went outside to hunt in the forest. A light was on in Hagrid's hut and smoke was coming out of the chimney as she passed and went into the forest.A few deer were cantering around the forest as she entered and Renesmee grinned. "Well, it looks like my food is right there." she muttered. "Time to hunt." She let her vampire senses take over and felt the usual burning in her throat from not drinking much blood. Renesmee creeped toward the first deer and and pounced, then sank her teeth into its neck. The deer let out a startled sound and started to writhe in her grasp as she drank. Then Renesmee went after the second deer. On the way out of the forest, Renesmee saw Jake in wolf form. His russet fur was standing on end and his teeth were bared in a snarle. "Jake? What's wrong?" Renesmee said. Jake looked at her and huffed. "What is it, Jake?" she asked telepathically.

"Drusilla. I can smell her." Jake answered. "She's been in the grounds again and her scent is strong."

"I can take care of her," Renesmee assured him. "If she or Darla come near me, I will take them down." Jake panted a little and his tail wagged. "Besides, if the even try to attcak, I got Mom, Dad and almost all of my family here at school to help." Jacob shifted to human form smiling. "And you know I can handle myself in a fight."

"Oh yeah, I know it," said Jake with a chuckle. The two walked back to the castle. "I saw you hunting and was distracted by the scent of Drusilla to tell you but Dawn and I are doing pretty well together. Buffy's not too thrilled about the relationship, but we're happy." Renesmee smiled. "So, how are you and Scorpius doing? Do I have to kick his butt for you?"

"Jake!" Renesmee groaned. "He's fine and we're okay. I think we may be spending Christmas at his grandparents' place this year instead of the Burrow." Jake's eyes flashed with mischief and she rolled her eyes. "No, don't even think about it. They're my friends, okay?" When he still showed his mischievous look, she added, "Do I have to treat you like a dog? Do you want me to say 'down, boy' or 'heel'?"

Jake barked out a laugh and said, "No, you don't have to. I'll be on my best behavior. I promise." Renesmee grinned and started walking faster but Jake kept up with her. "I like your haircut, by the way. Heard you had Rose's mom do really cute." Renesmee blushed and kept walking. "Hey, I gotta patrol some more so I'll catch up with you later, okay?"

"Yeah, sure. I'll just go back to the castle. See you." The aquaduct entrance was closer and Renesmee knew a password to a portrait that would get her to the main staircase in the school. She was trying to remember the password and wasn't looking at the person in front of her.

"Going somewhere, sweetie?" Renesmee glanced up and gasped. Darla was standing in front of the doors crouched and ready to attack. Darla looked around and smiled. "No Angel or anyone else to help you now, kiddo. You're all mine now and I promise that I'll make your death quick and painless."

Renesmee bared her teeth in a snarl and crouched as well. "Why are you after me, Darla? I don't know enough about you to make you hate me, but it doesn't take much for me to hate you." Darla laughed. "What, you think that's funny? Oh, sure, laugh at the human-vampire hybrid that's going to kick your eight-hundred-year-old but all the way back to hell."

Darla continued to laugh. "Oh, you are so very wrong, Renesmee. You won't be taking me down. I'll be taking you down." Both launched into the air and started to battle. Darla punched, kicked and clawed at Renesmee who punched and kicked back. "You're really good, kid. Not bad for a hybrid."

"Yeah? You're not too bad yourself, grandma," Renesmee retorted driving her fist into . Darla's gut and ramming her silver-tipped stake into her heart. Darla's jaw dropped and looked down at the wound in her chest, which now started smoking and the vampire screamed like a banshee while running into the forest and out of sight. "Some vampires never learn." Renesmee muttered and went inside.

The weather got colder as the week went on and the students from third year on up got ready for their next Hogsmeade trip. Renesmee got ready for her so-called date by dressing as nice as she could. She chose a red sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and her sneakers before hopping in the shower. After her warm shower, she dressed and brushed out her shoulder-length copper hair and slid a Gryffindor headband through it. "There," she said looking herself in the mirror, "looking good." Renesmee grabbed her money pouch and headed to the front gates flanked with winged boar statues. Scorpius was waiting for her wearing his black traveling cloak and a black stocking cap. "Morning," she said giving him a kiss on the cheek.

"Morning," said Dawn from behind them. She wore a pink winter jacket over a blue sweater. Her hair was curled and she had makeup on. "Ready for Hogsmeade?" Renesmee and Scorpius nodded. "Me, too. Jake and I are going to the Three Broomsticks for some butterbeer. Why don't you join us?"

"We're checking out a new shop," Renesmee said, "but we can meet you there." Dawn nodded and the four of them boarded the train and, after the train stopped an hour later, they followed the students to the High Street. Renesmee and Scorpius went to Honeydukes first to get some fudge and other snacks, then made their way to Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. The shop, Renesmee noticed, wasn't as big as the one in Diagon Alley, but it was big enough to hold their items. George Weasley was helping customers find their items and came up to Scorpius and Renesmee. "Hi, George."

"Hello, Renesmee. Here to see what our new shop is like, eh?" he said. Scorpius nodded. "We have a promotional deal on today. All Dark Arts items are half-price, and all joke items are twenty-five percent off." He pointed to a box of Skiving Snackboxes and added, "These are our best-sellers so far. Three Galleons for one of these and one Dark Arts item of your choice."

Renesmee bought two Skiving Snackboxes, a clump of Peruvian Instant Darkness Powder and a Decoy Detonator. Scorpius went for some Drungbombs and a pack of Exploding Snap cards. "Thanks, George!" Renesmee called as they walked out the door. "Now, where's that new Muggle shop? I want to buy something for Mom." Scorpius led the way to a small shop that carried Muggle books, comic books, and a bunch of other stuff.

"Hey," Scorpius said as they browsed through the shop, "Muggle poetry." Renesmee saw a bunch of poetry books by Shelley, Shel Silverstein and many other authors. "Does your mom like poetry?"

"She's a huge fan of Edgar Allen Poe, William Shakespeare and other ones, too." she told him while grabbing a few books. "Now, let's see what Dad will like." There was a whole shelf of music CDs that her dad liked. "Ooh! Dad loves the oldies rock music." She picked out AC/DC, Def Leppard, The Beatles, and a few others that were only six Sickles each. She paid for the books and CDs and left the shop. "Do you want to go to the Three Broomsticks and meet up with Dawn and Jake?"

"Sure," said Scorpius and they went back to the High Street. "You know, there's another pub called The Hog's Head near the edge of the village. Mr. Potter mentioned a while ago that Aberforth Dumbledore used to own the place. He passed away before we got to Hogwarts. According to Mr. Potter, Aberforth was very helpful during the Second Wizard War."

"Yeah, I heard," said Renesmee. "I think Ron Weasley told me about him. Said he was a big fan of goats or something." They entered the pub and Madam Rosmerta took their orders of butterbeer. Dawn and Jake were sitting at a table nearby and they sat down. "Having fun?"

Dawn smiled. "Loads of fun. Angel was going to come but he had some other things to do." She glanced around for a moment then whispered, "I think Angel and Buffy are trying to get back together. They've been acting like a couple all day." She giggled. "Jake thinks Spike and Buffy were better together, but I don't think so. Not after Spike tried to..."

"What did he try to do?" Scorpius asked, but Dawn shook her head. "That bad, eh? Well, Spike's a changed man, isn't he? He's got a soul, right?"

"Yes, but that doesn't make him right for what he did," Dawn replied. "He did save the world once, but it's like he tries to annoy Angel more often than not." The door opened and Spike walked up to the bar and talked to Madam Rosmerta. "Hey, Spike!" Spike whipped around, saw Dawn and waved. "Come sit with us!"

"A pint of pig's blood, Madam Rosmerta," he said. Spike paid for his purchase and sat down. "So, what's the subject today, mates? Me, I believe?" Dawn blushed. "Oh, come on, Niblet. You should be over that by now. You and the mongrel here are getting cozy by the sounds of it."

"Shut up, blood-sucker!" Jake snarled. "What about you? Got a special lady you're with these days?" Spike scowled. "That's what I thought."

"You know what, dog-boy?" Spike growled, "Sod off!" He took a swig of his blood and lit up a cigarette. "At least nobody banned smoking here. I'll be damned if I'm going to smoke out in the cold." He took a drag and blew out a stream of white smoke. Harry walked in with Ginny. "Oh, bloody hell. The Dark Wizard catcher and the Quidditch player. Oh joy."

"Hi, Mr. Potter!" Scorpius called and Harry walked over to them. "Did my dad give you the invite to Grandpa Lucius's house for Christmas?"

"He did," said Harry, "and I accepted. "Ginny's a little unsure, but we're going." Scorpius beamed. "Well, we'll see you later. Ginny's on break from training this week and I'm off duty, so we're enjoying a day out. I'm going to take Ginny home, and then I'll be back later. Got a special lesson for Defense this week."

On Monday morning, Renesmee went to Buffy's Defense class where they were still learning about Patronuses. Buffy wasn't feeling well so Harry took over the class. "Good morning," he said happily. "I read Buffy's report on your progress and a lot of you are still working on Patronuses. The only two students that managed to conjure a fully-fledged Patronus were Renesmee and Rose. Good job, both of you." Harry stood up and drew his wand. "Now, Buffy had you test your Patronus on a real dementor last time, which I think is a bit too much for you. We'll try without a dementor first. Allow me to show you mine." Harry raised his wand and shouted, "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" A silver stag erupted from his wand and cantered around the room. "You have to have a powerful memory. Just think of the happiest memory you have and let it fill you with joy and happiness. Scorpius, you first."

Scorpius raised his wand and tried the spell. On the second try, he managed to conjure a silver peacock. "Blimey," said Scorpius, "that's brilliant."

"A Patronus is a sort of shield that protects you from a Dementor," Harry informed the class. "A Dementor feeds off happiness and induces fear and depression. A Patronus counters that by projecting happiness in animal form. A corporeal Patronus can repel a Dementor, but the shield form of a Patronus can at least stop a Dementor from attacking you."

He tapped the projector with his wand and an image on the screen of a Dementor appeared. "Dementors can steal happiness and replace it with fear, or they can perform the Dementor's Kiss, which sucks out your soul and leaves you nothing but a shell of yourself. One person almost went through it and another person did endure the Kiss. Sirius Black, my own godfather, nearly got Kissed back in my third year and Bartemius Crouch Jr., the son of a deceased Ministry official, endured the Kiss years ago during my fourth year. Any questions?"

"What else are you going to teach us, sir?" asked Eric Zabini.

Harry smiled and tapped the projector again. This time, an image of a person wearing heavy black robes and a silver mask appeared. "These are Death Eaters, the followers of their former master, Lord Voldemort. Besides the recent vampire attacks, Ron and I have been on the hunt for on-the-run Death Eaters. Back in the Second Wizarding War, most of them were killed or put in Azkaban Prison for the crimes they committed. There are a few Death Eaters that escaped Azkaban already, but some of them were released because of Voldemort's death."

Harry flicked his wand at a stack of photographs from clippings of old Daily Prophets and they stuck thesmselves to the blackboard. "Here are the Death Eaters that are now at large. Walden Macnair, former executioner for the Department of the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures; Yaxley, Travers, Antonin Dolohov, and Crabbe and Goyle, father of Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, and Peter Pettigrew, now turned vampire." Harry replaced these pictures with others. "These are the deceased Death Eaters."

Renesmee looked at the photographs and wrote down the names on her parchment. The Death Eaters on the blackboard looked familiar somehow, but she couldn't figure out why. "Professor, why are you telling us this now?"

"Because, Renesmee," Harry said waving his wand. The photographs flew back onto his desk. "you need to know. The Dementors aren't here for no good reason. They are here here because a Death Eater is at large and the Ministry is looking for him." He flicked his wand once again and a blown-up portrait attached itself to the blackboard. "Peter Pettigrew is at large. I thought he was dead, but I was wrong. He is still alive and is now more powerful than anyone else I know and only one person in this room has seen him." Renesmee saw all heads turn her way and she blushed. Harry was talking about when she met Pettigrew as a vampire.

(Sorry for the wait, everyone. Usually I don't take so long to update, but the Internet was down and everyone else was on the computer before I could even try and update. I hope this chapter isn't too confusing for you all. I worked really hard on it and Chapter 12 should be coming soon. If you have any ideas or suggestions on what or who I should add into the series, please put them in your review or PM me! Thanks!)
