RENESMEE CULLEN AND THE ANGEL'S DOMAIN

CHAPTER 13: RENESMEE'S DEPRESSION

Renesmee roamed Hogwarts worried about Angel's condition since his battle with Darla and Drusilla three nights ago. She was very depressed and could barely concentrate in classes and snapped at anyone who tried to get her attention. Mostly, she was angry at Drusilla for biting him and worried that his change would take a turn for the worst.

Today Renesmee went to Defense Against the Dark Arts class with Buffy Summers and sat down at her desk between Rose Weasley and Albus Potter. Buffy decided to wear the traditional black robe like most teachers, her blonde hair tied into a ponytail. "Good morning, everyone," she said with a smile. "Today, I would like all of you to find a jinx, hex, curse or whatever you can think of that would be most effective against vampires and you will demonstrate the spells you choose." Renesmee raised her hand and Buffy pointed at her.

"Will we be using the spell against an actual vampire?" she asked.

Buffy nodded. "Spike will be your opponent. Just make sure you don't kill him, though. We kind of need him." She laughed a little as Spike glared at her. "Sorry, Spike. Now, we'll start with the first row of desks and keep going from there."

Each student used a spell on Spike, and each spell's effect was hilarious to Renesmee until it was her turn. She stood, wand at the ready, and tried to think of what spell would be more useful to defeat a vampire. Thankfully, Spike had cast a charm to protect himself in case he was put on fire or decapitated. "Come on, Nessie," Spike urged. "I can take whatever you throw at me. It won't kill me."

"No," said Renesmee with an evil grin, "but I guarantee it will hurt." She raised her wand and cried, "Confringo!" A blast of purple light caught Spike in the chest throwing him past Buffy and into the wall behind her. The class gasped. A few students craned their necks to see if he was okay and sighed in relief when he stood up. "See?"

"Oh, yeah," he grunted, "that did hurt a bit. Keep at it, Lil Bit."

"If you insist," Renesmee shrugged and prepared her second spell of choice. "SECTUMSEMPRA!" She slashed her wand and several gashes appeared on his face and body, blood spurting from his wounds. Buffy yelled for the students to stop and handed them a wooden stake.

"Okay, that was really good," she said with a grin, "but let's see how you handle a vampire with a stake instead of a wand." The class was confused at her words. "Before we get to the practical portion of the lesson, let's have a little quiz. First question: who has the power?"

Albus Potter raised his hand and said, "The vampire does because we're only human and he's got more brute strength than we do." Buffy nodded at him.

"That's right," she said. "The vampire has the power and can use it against you. You have to wear your opponent down enough where you can finally finish him. I'll show you how it's done and then it's your turn." Buffy and Spike got into battle stances. "Okay, Spike, are you ready?" The blonde vampire nodded and they went at it. Buffy punched and kicked while the formerly evil vampire blocked and parried her attacks until she flipped him over her shoulder and pressed the tip of a stake to his chest. "Did everyone see that? It took a while, but Spike was worn down enough for me to turn the tables and stake him."

"Yeah, well, you cheated," Spike argued. "I had you, and you know it." Buffy rubbed her temples and sighed. "Right, let's have our first opponent. How about Rose? She looks like she could take me." Rose walked up to the front of the classroom and went into a battle stance. "Let's see what you got, then." Spike made the first move by throwing a punch at her. Rose grabbed and put him in a vice grip. "Oops, I think you missed," she said with a wicked grin. Growling, Spike kicked the back of her foot until she was on the floor and stood over her with his fangs extended.

"Oh, really?" he hissed. "Well, let's just see how that works for you." He bent down only to have Rose's fist connect with his face. Spike staggered back, howling in pain and holding his nose as she stood up. "You little…I'll get you for that!"

"Is that right?" Rose snarled. She whipped the stake like a shuriken at Spike. The tip of the stake piercing his left side of his chest. Spike looked at the piece of wood protruding from his chest and fell backward to the ground. "How did I do, Professor?" she asked Buffy who was shocked.

"You," Buffy said slowly, "did amazing! How did you do that?"

"Oh," said Rose casually, "I just used his power against him. I thought about using magic, but since this is a close-quarters combat lesson, I just followed my instincts." Buffy then awarded Gryffindor twenty points.

After lunch, Renesmee got ready for her Quidditch practice with Annabelle Weasley. They were preparing to play Hufflepuff on Saturday and the Seeker, from what Annabelle said, was one of the best since Harry Potter himself. Renesmee changed into her Quidditch robes, shouldered her broomstick and met the team on the Quidditch Pitch. "All right, everyone, let's get this going," Annabelle told the team. "Beaters, please try to protect the Chasers and Keeper. Nessie, I need you to be very careful. Not only is Isaiah Smith fast, but he's strong."

"Right," said Renesmee as she mounted her broomstick, "I'll be careful." Annabelle blew the whistle and the team was in the air. Renesmee was keeping an eye on the Golden Snitch while the rest of the team was doing their jobs. She finally spotted the Snitch near the opposite goal posts and sped toward it, but the Snitch was very fast. It took her almost a half-hour to catch it. When she caught the Snitch, she heard the rest of the team cheer. "Man, this Snitch is fast," she told Annabelle. "I've definitely got to see Smith in action so I know what to look forward to."

"That's the problem," Annabelle told her. "Smith has a few tricks up his sleeve. I wouldn't be surprised if he knocks you off your broom to catch that Snitch." Renesmee was not ready for this, but she had to be in order to finally beat Hufflepuff and play the final match against Ravenclaw.

Renesmee was deep in thought as she walked back to the castle and into the entrance hall she actually bumped into someone on the way. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and…" She looked up and squealed. "Angel! Oh, God, I missed you so much!" Angel grunted as Renesmee threw herself into his arms and squeezed him tight. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine," he said laughing. "Carlisle wants me to get help with my new abilities so I can control them, but I'm perfectly fine. Let's go to the Great Hall for dinner so I can say hi to everyone else."

Renesmee was very happy as they walked hand-in-hand toward the Great Hall for dinner, but was stopped by Lilith Demona.
