Disclaimer: I don't own A Cinderella Story

Sam stared at the man that was sitting across from them. Finally he opened his mouth and spoke.

"Sam Montgomery, as I live and breathe. You look so much like your mother, but I can definitely see your father in you," he said in amazement.

"You knew both my parents?" she questioned in surprise.

"Yes I did. Your mother was my best friend in high school," he explained.

"Really? If you don't mind me asking, how come I've never met you then?" she wondered.

Sighing he looked down, before looking back up at her, "It's mainly because, I've been in China I left before you were born, though your mother did send pictures! I came back about two years before your dad died. I came to the funeral, I had to stand in the back though, lest everyone see me bawling like a baby!" he joked.

"Really?" she questioned.

"Yes really, now I know you didn't come here to share fond memories. So tell me why you're here Sam," he gentley commanded.

"I found a letter you wrote my dad before he died. You had done some legal work for him and told him to come to your office," she explained.

"I did do some work for him yes, and I did ask him to come in. Though don't worry it was nothing bad. I wrote his will for him is the legal work, along with answer some questions. Now for as to why I wanted him to come and see me, that had to do with the fact that, before your mother died she asked me to do some research on her family tree. You see she was adopted and she got curious, so when she was pregnant with you I was able to get a court order to unseal her adoption. She wanted to know if there were any medical things on her side of the family. Anyway I got them unsealed and started to look through them. I did a great deal of research, while I was in China and again when I got back. I never stopped, not even when she died. Anyway about a month before your father died, I found some information that I thought he might like to know. We were to meet the day after the earthquake. After he died I was going to give the information to your stepmom, but she didn't want to hear it. She said she didn't care. I decided to keep looking, and found quite a bit more information. Anyway I was going to send you a letter when you turned eighteen, but since you're here now, I may as well give you the information," he explained, he stood towards the latter part of his explaination, and walked over to a filing cabinet in the corner of his office. He pulled a key out of his pocket and unlocked the very bottom drawer, pulling out a very thick folder and what looked like a photo album.

He walked back over and placed the items on his desk, before sitting back down and clicking a button on his phone.

"Nancy, clear my schedule and hold all of my calls please," he requested.

"Yes sir," she affirmed.

Turning back to the couple in front of him he looked at the boy sitting next to his best friend's daughter.

"Now what was your name young man?" he questioned.

"Oh, it's Austin Ames sir. I'm Sam's boyfriend," he greeted him with a shy smile.

"I figured with the way that you two were holding hands when you came in," he joked with a smile.

Both teens blushed and looked down before looking back up at the man. Smiling, he opened the file pulled out the first piece of paper. He looked it over, before placing it in front of them, watching as Sam cautiously take the paper.

"This is the first bit of information I could find. It has your mother's birth parent's information on it. Their names and where she was born, as well as their ages. Her mother was sixteen when she had her and her father was seventeen. They wanted to give your mother her best chance in life and they knew that raising a baby while still in high school was not the best idea. I contacted them a few months after I found out about them," he explained.

"You did?" she questioned.

"Yes I did, they are still together in fact, they have another daughter. They were saddened to hear about your mother, but happy to hear that you had been born. I asked them some questions about their life, for your knowledge. They informed me that they had another daughter, about a year after they got married. I have kept in contact with them over the years, I've updated them on you as well. They were willing to take you in after your dad died, though you stayed with your stepmother," he stated.

"They wanted to take me in?" Sam questioned.

"Yes they did, they loved your mother, and they love you," he stated with a soft smile.

Pulling another sheet off of the stack he passed it to Sam.

"This is their picture Sam," he told her.

They spent another few hours going through the information in the folder before looking through the photo album full of pictures of Sam's mother and Josh, as he had told them to call him. They were listening to Josh tell the story of how the pair of them snuck into a concert they wanted to see when they were eighteen when a thought accured to Austin.

"Excuse me Josh, you said that you wanted to tell Mr. Montgomery something when he died?" Austin questioned.

"Yes, I did. I wanted to tell him that I found some more information regarding your mother's family. I found some history on her ancestors. I also wanted to go over his will one more time to make sure everything was in order," he answered.

"Can we see his will?" Sam questioned.

"You can actually, he left instructions that if the will isn't read by the time you turn sixteen then you can open it and read it yourself," he explained with a nod.

"Alright, I'd like to open it," Sam stated without a second thought.

Nodding his head he walked back over to the cabinet and pulled out a single, thin manilla envelope and walked back over to his desk. As he was grabbing the envelope Austin grabbed Sam's hand and squeezed it, knowing that she would need all the support she could get.

Mr. Lee opened the envelope and brought out a stack of papers stapled together. He turned towards Sam and smiled a small smile, before grabbing his reading glasses from where he had placed them on his desk a few minutes before.

"Alright now for this to be official I need to record this (I don't know if this is how it works so I'm just going to try my best) for it to be official," he stated as he leaned over and grabbed a tape recorder from his desk drawer before pressing the record button, "Now that's done here is the official reading of the last will and testament of one Hal Montgomery."

Hey y'all I hope you liked the chapter! What is the will going to say? Will Sam get in contact with any other of her mother's relatives?
