Bree's PoV:
"Achoo!" My body lurched forward as I violently sneezed, and I groaned miserably as I watched Adam walk through the doors to our mentor's quarters.
"Hey Bree!" my oldest brother exclaimed happily, waving at me as he grinned widely. I gave him a weak smile in return before stumbling to the mini-island to grab a bottle of water. I didn't care if I was sick or not; I needed to train my students today. Besides, we were finally getting into all of the fun stuff, so I definitely didn't want to miss out. I suddenly felt a large, warm hand on my shoulder. "Uh, Bree, you okay?" Adam asked me, squinting as he looked me over.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I just-" I was interrupted by a sudden sneeze, then another, and then another. When my nose finally decided to stop dying, I continued, "I've just been sneezing a lot."
Now, even though Adam was usually a little dull in the intelligence department, there were instances when he seemed to somehow become smarter; his siblings getting sick was one of those instances. Adam's eyebrows furrowed as he placed his hand gingerly on my forehead, pulling away quickly as soon as his hand made contact. "Bree, you're burning up!" His eyes widened. "You must be dying!" A small scream of surprise ripped itself from my throat as Adam suddenly picked me up in a bridal hold and quickly laid me on the couch. "You stay there, and DON'T. MOVE. I'm going to get Mr. Davenport!" I watched in slight confusion and amusement as Adam raced to the door.
"Adam, I'm-" But he was gone. I sighed, "Fine." Great. So now not only Adam thought I was dying, but Mr. Davenport would think I was dying too. Fantastic. Just what I needed.
Sure enough, Adam sprinted back into the room not even a full five minutes later, a panting and out of shape Mr. Davenport trailing behind him.
"Bree, are you okay?" Mr. Davenport asked as soon as he caught his breath, "Adam said you were-"
"Dying? I kind of feel dead, but trust me, I'm very much alive," I answered from my spot on the couch.
Mr. Davenport frowned as he walked over to me, an anxious Adam following closely behind. My father put a hand to my forehead before jerking back, just like Adam had done. "Bree, you're burning up! How are you feeling?"
"Nauseous. Pained. Achy everywhere. So basically, like crap."
Mr. Davenport gave me a wry smile before leaving, returning a moment later with a throw-up pan, blankets, headache medicine and other pain killers. He gently laid a blanket over my shivering body before placing the throw-up pan on the ground by my head.
"Wait, is that pan for her blood? Is she gonna die? Talk to me doctor, talk to me!" Adam exclaimed dramatically, and if it hadn't been for the serious look on his face, I could've sworn he was joking. Mr. Davenport gave him an odd look before turning back to me.
"Honey, I think you have the flu. I'll have to check your chip as soon as possible and see how you got the virus, seeing as your chip should give you immunity. I guess there was a flaw...aw, who am I kidding? I made it; it must be perfect, just like MY handsome face," he told me, a proud smirk on his face when he said the last part. I gave a small smile and rolled my eyes at him; it was a wonder all of that extra weight from his ego hadn't suffocated him yet.
"But Mr. Davenport, the students-"
"Will be just fine without you and your brothers for a few days while you recover," he finished for me, giving me a reassuring smile.
"What do you mean? Where will Adam, Chase and Leo be?" I questioned.
"Well, Leo will be helping me and Douglas train the students, but Adam and Chase will be here taking care of you."
"So this is how I die," I muttered, "Sick and by the hands of my brothers."
"So is she dying or not?" Adam asked incredulously before looking at me solemnly, "Because if you're gonna die, can you hurry it up a little? I have to start training by eleven."
I rolled my eyes as Mr. Davenport ran a hand over his face. "No, Adam, she's not dying," Mr. Davenport answered with a small smile, "She's just sick, which means that you and Chase need to take care of her for a few days until I can fix her chip and get rid of her virus."
"Okay!" Adam replied, back to his usual happy self. "Where's Chase?"
"He's in the middle of a simulation with his students right now, but as soon as he finishes, I'll send him back here." Mr. Davenport turned to me. "Text me if you need something." I nodded, and Mr. Davenport kissed my head and patted Adam's shoulder before leaving.
Adam sat down next to my stretched out body, looking at me cautiously. "Are you okay, Breezy?" I smiled at him before nodding, and he smiled back. "Are you cold?"
"A little," I admitted, and Adam gently put another blanket on me. I was just beginning to drift off when I heard Adam say, "Bree?"
"Hm?" I cracked my eyes open to look at him.
"Are there aliens in your brain?" he asked tentatively, scooching away from me a little as he spoke. "Is that why you're sick?"
"No, Adam, that's not why I'm sick. There aren't any aliens, promise."
"Pinky promise?" Adam raised his eyebrows as he held out his pinky, which I hooked with mine.
"Pinky promise." Suddenly, I felt an awful feeling in the back of my throat, my small smile disappearing as I leaned over and quickly grabbed the throw-up pan. My body trembled and tears came to my eyes as I threw up, Adam's hand gently rubbing my back and his other hand holding my hair out of my face. This went on for a minute or two until I was finally finished. I put the bucket back down on the ground and buried my face into Adam's chest, groaning, as his hand stroked my hair soothingly.
"Breezy, I don't like it when you're sick," Adam mumbled, placing a kiss on the top of my head.
"I don't like it either," I mumbled back.
"Here," Adam said, leaning forward a little to grab some medicine without relinquishing his hold on me. I put the pill in my mouth before swallowing with the water that my brother had given me.
"Thanks," I muttered after the pill had gone down.
"No problem," Adam replied quietly, still stroking the hair from my sweaty forehead. "Why don't you get some sleep? I'll be right here when you wake up."
"Promise?" I mumbled, smiling a little as I drifted off to sleep.
"Promise."
*A Few Hours Later*
Bree's PoV:
I woke up a little while later, feeling slightly better but not much. The quiet voices of my brothers could be heard on either side of me, and I felt safe knowing that now both of my brothers were with me. I immediately felt a little bad for thinking this, because Leo wasn't there and he was my brother too. But then I realized that Leo wouldn't have wanted me to feel bad had he known what I was thinking, because he understood that as much as I loved him, I'd always be closest to Adam and Chase. They had been there for me growing up, and they took care of me when I was sick or hurt; likewise, I returned the favor to them. Really, there was no one else that I really wanted with me when I was sick, except maybe Mr. Davenport.
I wanted to open my eyes and let them know I was awake, but Adam's warm embrace and having Chase by my side was so comfortable, and my head was hurting so badly that I decided to keep my eyes closed just a little while longer. As I laid there, I listened to their conversation.
"So how long does Mr. Davenport think it'll take to fix her chip?" I heard Chase ask.
"He didn't say, but I really hope it's soon."
"Me too. I hate seeing Bree sick."
"Yeah."
I nuzzled my head a little further into Adam's chest and let out a soft groan before deciding that I should probably open my eyes. "Hey," Chase said softly, "Do you feel any better?"
"A little bit," I mumbled, "Not really. How long was I asleep?"
Chase's hand rubbed my shoulder comfortingly. "About three hours."
"How did the simulation go?" I asked him, looking up at his tired face. Simulations were always tiring, no matter how easy or difficult, and I knew Chase must have been exhausted. But I also knew that he would never let on how tired he was when he was taking care of me; all three of us were stubborn in that aspect. There had been a time when I passed out after a mission because I insisted Mr. Davenport look over the boys' injuries first. There had been another time when Chase had gotten mono after taking care of me when I had it, and then Adam had caught it after taking care of Chase. It wasn't always fun or easy, but we'd do anything to protect and take care of each other.
He gave me a fatigued smile. "It was good. My students did really well, so I'm pretty happy with them right now." He looked at Adam for a second. "Hey, why don't you go get some sleep, you look exhausted. I'll take care of her for a while."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, go. It's not like you'll be too far away if something happens."
"Okay, thanks short stack." Adam gently passed me over to Chase, who held me in his arms protectively. Why my brothers always insisted on coddling me when I was sick, I'd never know. But it was comfy and they made nice pillows, so I wasn't about to complain.
Chase rolled his eyes at Adam before looking at me. "You know, the only thing stopping me from hitting him over that is the fact that I'm holding you right now."
"We'll get him back later," I promised with a smile.
"'Course we will. Here, drink some water, you need fluids." I quietly obeyed without question, knowing that Chase had already intensely researched the flu and ways to treat it. After drinking for a minute or two, I set the water back down on the coffee table in front of us before leaning back into my little brother, only to sit straight up again.
"Bree?" Chase asked me cautiously; his eyes widened. "Bathroom?"
I nodded urgently, and Chase picked me up in a bridal hold before sprinting me to the nearest bathroom, and just in time too. The sounds of my retching filled the air, and as Chase rubbed my back, I couldn't help thinking, "Dear God, why did that throw up pan have to be full? Why couldn't they have emptied it?" I knew, of course, that the only reason my brothers hadn't emptied the throw up pan while I slept was that neither of them wanted to leave me alone while I was sick, even if I was still with the other one of them. Of course, the fact that it wasn't exactly their dream to clean up my puke probably had something to do with it too.
After I had finished, I sat back, wiping my mouth off as Chase got me some water and a cool rag. He ran the rag tenderly over my face, wiping away the sweat that had accumulated there.
"You ready to go back, or do you need some more time?" Chase asked me gently.
"Go back," I mumbled, handing him my water, which he set with the cool rag on the bathroom counter. He picked me up again and carried me, walking this time, back to the couch. We settled in, and when I looked at my brother again, I saw how tired he really did look.
"Chase?"
"Hm?"
"You're tired, aren't you?"
He scoffed. "Pfft, what? No, nah, I'm good, I'm fantastic, I feel amazing!"
I looked up at him. "You always were a horrible liar."
Chase just rolled his eyes in response, a small smile on his face. "Whatever. Yeah, I'm a little tired, but sleep isn't a priority right now, you are."
I smiled. "Well, I'm still pretty tired too. So why don't we both take a nap? That way, you'll get some rest and still be taking care of me."
Without hesitation, Chase exclaimed, "Oh, thank God!" before settling back into the couch, holding me gently.
I laughed a little before snuggling into him. "Chasey?"
"Yeah Bee-bee?"
"Thanks."
He kissed the top of my head. "No problem."
AN: So, there ya go! I know there wasn't a lot of them taking care of her exactly, especially not with Chase. But I don't know, this is what I ended up with, and no matter how hard I tried, it didn't really end up the way I had hoped. Still, I don't think it was atrocious or anything, and I really hope Guest liked it! He/She had some really good ideas that I will definitely try to write; this one was written first simply because it came to me easily. I really hope that all of you guys liked it! I will definitely work on the next chapter, and I hope to have it up soon. However, I'll be at my mom's house this week, and she doesn't have wifi, so I won't be able to update for a week after about 4:00 P.M. tomorrow. Hopefully, this'll give me time to work on new chapters! Also, y'all don't stop sending in ideas and suggestions, and please don't forget to tell me which story you'd like me to post next: "Bree's Secret Talent" or "The Love of a Family". If I don't get an answer soon, I'll probably just post one of my choosing, so if you have a preference, don't be afraid to speak up! Thanks for reading, reviewing, favoriting and following, if you do! :D Later! :P
