Chase's PoV:

"Hey Chase?" I looked up from the tablet in my hands to see a curious look on my older brother's face.

"Yes Adam?" I asked impatiently. I really didn't have time for any of Adam's stupid questions when I was this busy trying to develop my research for the project Mr. Davenport and I were working on.

"What's that thing on Bree's neck?"

We both looked over to our sister standing a few yards away and talking animatedly to Taylor. I looked my sister over intently, trying and failing to find anything different about her. "What are you talking about Adam?"

Adam looked at me strangely and pointed, both of us looking at our sister once more. "Look, right there!" he exclaimed. "It looks like a bruise."

I looked even more meticulously at my big sister's neck, finally noticing what Adam was talking about. "Oh. Yeah, it does look kind of like a bruise...I think." My head tilted to the side as I squinted, not quite sure what I was seeing. As Adam and I stared, trying to figure out what was on our sister's neck, Leo walked up behind us.

Tilting his head with us, Leo stood silently for a minute before finally speaking. "So...whatcha guys doing?"

"We're trying to figure out what's on Bree's neck," I responded, not bothering to take my eyes off of Bree as I answered.

Leo's eye brows raised in amusement. "Um, guys? I don't know how to tell you this but that's a hickey." That got me and Adam to look at him in confusion, causing our step-brother to look at us even more amusedly. "Okay, so I understand Adam not knowing what that is but really Chase? You're the smartest man in the world and you don't even know what a hickey is?"

I shook my head in confusion. "I've never had to research it before for a mission or anything. Is it dangerous, could it hurt her?" I was really confused now; I didn't like not knowing what something was, especially if it concerned my sister. I didn't want her getting hurt!

Leo burst out laughing. "You guys don't-and you think that-and Bree has-oh my God!"

Obviously Leo would be no help, so I took it upon myself to search the internet for the definition of a hickey. "Okay, I've got it," I announced over Leo's annoying laughter, "Hickey: a skin blemish, especially a mark caused by a lover biting or sucking the skin." I was quiet for a moment as Leo finally shut up before saying, "Wait. So you mean to tell me that someone has been biting my sister's neck?"

"It's got to be a vampire!" Adam shouted, standing and holding his hands up in the air, "Everybody, can I have your attention! Now I don't mean to alarm anybody, but there is a vampire living here on the island. Seeing as we're the only ones who live here, it has to be one of you so fess up now so we can punish you harshly!"

Rolling my eyes at my older brother, I said, "Everybody go back to what you were doing, I'm sure none of you are vampires."

As everyone returned to their normal activities Adam whispered to me, "Oh, good, throw them off so we can trap them!"

"Adam, there are no vampires. If Bree really does have a hickey, it means that some boy was kissing her neck."

"Oh...hey, they can't do that!" Adam was now standing up and looking at our sister like he wanted to put her in a huge plastic bubble and never let her out; quite honestly, I couldn't blame him because I was having the same idea. The idea of some boy slobbering all over my big sister's neck was enough to make me want to keep her away from every boy in the world for the rest of her life.

"Guys, calm down. It's just a hickey, it's not a big deal," Leo said.

"Yes it is! Boys can't just touch her like that! Besides, who gave her that anyway?" I asked.

"I don't know," Leo confessed, "I mean, you're on an island full of bionic boys, it's not like she doesn't have options. Just don't worry about it guys, it really isn't that bad."

As Leo walked away, Adam and I turned to each other determinedly. "Okay Adam," I said, "I think we both know what we have to do."

"Right," he agreed, "I'll go get the giant plastic bubble." Adam started to walk away before I grabbed his upper arm, pulling him back.

"No Adam. We have to find out who did this to Bree, so that means we're gonna have to talk to every guy Bree might go after on this island."

Adam shrugged. "Well, it's not as fun as the giant plastic bubble but I guess it'll work."

At that moment Charlie walked past us, smiling at us happily and waving. Adam suddenly picked him up by the collar of his shirt, holding Charlie's face as close as possible to his own. "DID YOU GIVE MY SISTER A HICKEY?" Charlie's face developed a terrified look as he violently shook his head "no", causing Adam to look at him carefully as he put him down. "Okay Charlie, you're off the hook for now. But we're watching you."

"Come on," I said, "We still have an island full of guys to terrify."

*Three Hours Later*

Chase's PoV:

"Chase, what are we supposed to do? We've interrogated everyone on this island, even Bob and Spin. They can't even reach Bree's neck, much less hickey it."

I looked at my brother strangely but decided to let that one go as I answered. "I don't know Adam. I guess we'll just have to-"

"Hey guys, whatcha doing?" Bree asked as she walked into our quarters.

"Bree-" I started, only to be cut off by Adam.

"WHO GAVE YOU A HICKEY?"

Bree just looked at us questioningly for a moment before saying, "What do you mean? No one gave me a hickey."

"Bree, it's right there on your neck! You didn't even try to hide it!" I retorted.

"Guys I promise you I don't have-oh."

"Oh what? What is oh?" I asked.

"Guys, that's not a hickey, that's a bruise. Charlie and I were training yesterday and he accidentally hit me in the neck; it didn't hurt that badly, but I guess it was hard enough to leave a bruise."

"Wait, so you don't have a hickey?" Adam asked confusedly.

"No, Adam, I don't have a hickey."

Adam and I both breathed in relief, glad to know that we didn't have to kill anybody that day.

"Why was it such a big deal anyway?" Bree asked.

Adam and I shared a look before I spoke. "Look, Bree...we're your brothers so we're supposed to protect you, and we take that really seriously. We don't want you ever being hurt on missions or anything, but we also definitely don't want you being hurt by a stupid guy. So when we thought that you had a hickey..."

"We were scared that you were gonna get hurt," Adam finished.

"Aw, guys, that's so sweet!" Bree cooed, hugging each of us and kissing our cheeks. "Look, guys, I know that you want to protect me and I love you for it, but you have to trust me when I say that if I need you guys I'll tell you. And you can't freak out when a guy does hurt me, because it's gonna happen eventually."

"We know, we just don't want to see it. We saw how torn up you were after Sebastian, and we never want to see you like that again," Adam said.

"I know," Bree said softly. "Come on, let's go see how the students are doing." We watched our sister walk out of the lab, smiling at her retreating form before following her.

"Huh," Adam said, "I guess it was just a bruise."

"Yeah," I agreed before adding, "Though technically we weren't wrong; a guy did hurt her."

Adam's brow furrowed for a moment before his eyes widened angrily. "Hey!" He ran out of the room, shouting at the top of his lungs, "Charlie, I knew it was you!"
