A/N 12/2016 Hey guys, here's the second chapter of my very first story. I originally intended to write this as sort of a way to rest my mind, but it's cool to see people actually take an interest in it. Winter break is almost up so my upload schedule will be inconsistent. Worry not I have not left you, and I fully intended to continue this story until the end.
Feel free to leave a review. Any and all input is welcome.

Updated: Well it's been more than 2 years. Amazing really, how little I'm able to accomplish in that time. I have not left although I understand if you think I did. There are many examples on this site of unfinished works and I have read some very interesting ideas that just get left incomplete. I will finish this eventually and appreciate everyone willing to bear with me.
This is the new and improved 2nd chapter. Less plot holes, better descriptions, better humor (hopefully). There is a major plot change anyone familiar with the previous versions of my two chapters may notice, but I wanted to move the story in a more natural way.
I have plenty of ideas and hopefully I'll have more motivation to see them through. I'm planning to 100 percent bloodborne again, and I'm looking for more inspiration to finally get this finished.
I have other priorities, mainly work and college as well as a pathfinder game I'm GM ing. Thus my attention to the story may be sparse, but I assure you I will finish this if it kills me.
Feel free to leave a review or dm me any questions or comments. I maintain that all slurs and threats are completely acceptable, but if I see one person call me a idiot I be get mad, got it?
Without further adieu Back to your regularly scheduled program:
Mabel POV
"DIPPER!" I shrieked as I saw my brother, my twin, my best friend, get eaten alive by a gigantic wolf monster.
His cries were made into a gurgling mess by the werewolf as it began to tear at his limbs. It threw his body around, ripping through his arms and torso. In one bite, it tore off his leg and ate it whole. I was so horrified I couldn't move. I was frozen with fear unable to save him, forced to watch as he was slowly swallowed in the most cruel and painful way possible. His throat was a hole, the parts of his neck that remained were jagged and torn apart with pieces of skin and muscle dangling from his injury. I could see his wind pipe filling with blood. He fell to the floor after the first bite and began thrashing beneath the beast. He reached out for me in vain, trying to hold on to his life as it left him. The wolf ate his last tether to me, leaving Dipper's upper arm as a bloody stump, which he still waved in my general direction. He slowly stopped moving, now laying in a pool of his blood and flesh. I could see the light drain from his eyes as the gurgling sound stopped entirely. I turned away, I couldn't bear to look i closed my eyes tight hoping I'd wake up soon. I bit my lip hard enough to draw blood and looked back hoping what I had seen wasn't real. Dipper was gone and I couldn't even mourn before he was taken away from me. The only evidence left of my brothers existence was the blood splattered all over the walls and floor, and the remains of his flesh on the lips of the beast which had killed the one person I couldn't live without. Finding nothing left of its previous victim it stalked towards me, a pale gray glow surrounding its' form.
"Nice wolf...monster...thing." I said hoping that it wouldn't attack me. I looked around for a weapon and the only thing I could find was some bag stands scattered about.
Then the wolf jumped right at me, jaw open and teeth shining. I dived to the side and rolled on the ground as crashed into the beds that were behind me becoming momentarily stunned. I grabbed a stand and held it up in front of me. I could hear the blood pumping in my ears as the beast turned back in my direction. Not giving it a chance to attack me again, I stabbed it in the right eye. The wolf cried out due to its loss of sight standing up so it could use its front paws to protect its eyes and I was able to stab its underbelly a few times. In a rage it swatted in my direction, hitting me directly in the stomach and sending me flying into the shelves lining the wall. I was dazed but I quickly jumped to my right seeing the wolf charge directly into the spot where I had been laying. I stabbed the back leg that was closest to me, which caused It to roar and take another swipe at me. This time I dodged back out of its reach and began circling it waiting for an opening. It took a slow and strong swing in my direction, but this time I side stepped it,and used my body to slam into its side causing it to fall on its back. I climbed on top of it and began stabbing the bastard. I kept stabbing it, over, and over, and over. It was almost a rhythm, the fevered pace of a horrible song. I kept going even after it stopped moving. I released all my grief into every slash and swing of the stand. Eventually, the stand broke in my hand and I was forced to stop ripping the wolf apart. I looked over the damage I had done.
The body was mostly intact though the chest was torn open. The heart and lungs as well as the innards, were torn up, lying in several piles around and on the wolf. The blood that was supposed to be inside the wolf was now soaking into my clothes and covering every inch of my body. I shook my hands which splattered a lot of it onto the floor. I grabbed some oily rags from one of the trolleys, wiping away all the excess blood and guts. In the process the full realization of what had happened hit me like a brick.
Dipper is dead.
All of a sudden a wave of grief and pain washed over me. I could feel the tears well up and fall down my face. I fell to my knees and began to sob uncontrollably.
Dipper was dead.
He's gone forever and I'll never see him again.
I remembered when we were living In our apartment. He'd come home tired as dirt after work, I'd be painting in the living room and he'd complain about the mess. He would just pass out on the sofa, and I would inevitably paint on his tired face. Did you know that eye bags are incredibly hard to outline.
All of that's gone now. Neither Dipper nor I had many friends, and his body is gone too. The only trace of him now are my memories.
This must be what absolute despair feels like.
After several more minutes of crying I had no more tears to shed, and I made the decision that I should join him. We're twins, losing your twin is like losing your arms and legs. I'm sure there's more than just the one wolf.
What would Dipper say? Would he be disappointed? He would probably tell me to not give or some other stupid pick me up.
I know Dipper never really believed in an afterlife, and I've never really made my mind up about it. Should I take a chance on the idea that I will actually see him?
No, if my memories are all that's left of him I'm going to keep them alive. Which means I'm going to have to find a way out of this hell hole. There was a door lit by a lantern which the wolf was blocking before we came in, it seemed to be the only way out. I walked through the door, and It lead to another small square room which was similar to the other square room. The obvious difference being that it wasn't empty.
A dead body was sitting against the left wall. It wasn't torn apart, but was instead in a state of rot. A disgusting smell filled the room like that of a diaper covered in throw up and baked in an oven for an hour.
I was ready to get out of this place.
Directly across from me lay a staircase leading upwards to another closed door. However, behind the door I saw a bright white light. Hoping to finally escape this nightmare I ran up the stairs and pushed the doors open with my shoulder.
I fell directly into a graveyard
I guess the clinic doesn't have a very high survival rating. The irony of being in a graveyard was not lost on me. I may have laughed if I wasn't in a such a shitty situation. I shook myself off, internally despairing over the state of my sweater which was frayed and blood soaked. The shooting star was now missing half of the rainbow and the actual star was almost completely torn off.
"Hello," I called out. "Can somebody help me? My brother and I were attacked. Somebody please..."
The noise from the hundreds of thousands of people in the city that I heard when we arrived was completely gone. In its place was silence and a light wind that carried faint whispers.
The sound of metallic scraping cut through the silence, coming from the direction of a large metal gate. I could see another body next to the gate also in a partially rotten state. I wonder why it wasn't buried, was there just no time? I walked over to the gate peering through. I could see a small road crossing in front of the gate and around a corner. A second small road made an L shape near the turn with the road running the same way I was facing. Directly in front of me was a small staircase leading down. In the small street sat several carriages and bodies. Even a horse, with part of its stomach eaten. In the distance I could see someone's feet pacing next to a carriage on the L street. I could also see some kind of tool being dragged behind him and a glow that followed him from above, probably a torch.
"Hello!" I yelled at him.
They continued to pace even despite my calls. Getting frustrated I opened the gate just enough for me to slip through.
My sweater momentarily becoming snagged on the gate and tearing slightly. I walked to the carriage cautiously, my dread making me a bit paranoid. I peaked around the side and saw what looked like a citizen of the city carrying a torch and an axe. I decided to risk asking for the mans help, and came around the carriage. The man must have heard me because he began turn towards me.
"Hey….uh…can you help me?" I said cautiously.
As the man turn to face me I was able to look at him in more detail. He looked tired, as if he'd been running for five hundred miles. His hair was dirty and greasy, and his clothes were rumpled. His axe as well as the rest of him were covered in dried blood. The most striking thing about him was his eyes. They were bloodshot , almost all of the white was covered. The pupils were mixed with the color in his eyes, he seemed like he was sick.
Suddenly the man began yelling and swung his axe at me. I jumped to the side and ran past him tripping over a huge lever thing, which apparently was connected to a ladder. The ladder fell down the side of the building right next to me, it startled me for a second. Another yell caught my attention and I saw two more guys stumbling toward me from the end of the road.
Trapped.
Seeing no other option I began to climb the ladder. I only hope they don't follow me up. Reaching the top of the building I turned around to kick the stupid dicks off. Somehow they didn't follow me and I was left alone, for now. The thing that brought that beast must have affected the rest of the city too. I don't know what, but it's probably why those morons attacked me.
too much thinking.
"Ugh, my brain hurts how does Dipper do it."
Dipper. I can feel the tears start to leak.
"No. Stop, your better than this." I told myself, smacking my cheeks a little "Dipper wouldn't want you to mope, you gotta be strong. For him."
I wiped the tears away and looked around on the platform I climbed to. Directly in front of me was a small lantern sticking out of the ground. Behind that was two single-floor apartment buildings made into a sing le building. Two paths on either side of it one on the left leading to another gate. The other leading further away towards the inner city. I decided to take a look at the lamp since it was the closest thing to me. It was planted straight into the ground almost like it wasn't in the stone. The lantern wasn't lit and I couldn't see any way to light it either.
"Why would there be a lantern so close to the ground. The city planner should be fired." I said to myself as I got up. and immediately stopping to scold myself. "I need to stop talking to myself, I probably sound like a crazy person."
"Yeah, you do."
"Ahhh!" I screamed grabbing my rapidly beating heart, "Who's there, show yourself. I'm not afraid of you, I just disemboweled a god damn werewolf."
"Take it easy, I didn't mean to startle you." I heard someone say in a soft tenor (I'm big on singing), followed by a bout of coughing. The came from the window of one of the apartments behind the lamp, the one closest to the gate. I walked right up to the window to give him a piece of my mind.
"What do you mean you weren't trying to startle me, what other reaction were you expecting." I said annoyed. Hey its his fault, he scared me. Dick.
"Heh, I guess you've got a point there." He said, coughing once again. I was momentarily startled when he pulled the curtains back, and I could finally see him, thanks to a conveniently placed lantern. His skin was a copper brown color, not as brown as his hair though. He had a thin face and a medium round nose. He had several tattoos, one of a snake, a river thing, and an arrow. I could smell incense sticks burning creating a fragrant haze around the house. He barely had facial hair, just a little bit of stubble on his chin. He couldn't be any older than 25.
"Yeah, well, don't do it again, you meanie." I pouted
"Fair enough, I'm Nate." He initially lifted his hand, and when he realized he couldn't shake my hand through the glass, reached and scratched his stubble.
"Mabel. I'm from out of town, and covered in blood, do you mind telling me what the fuck is going on!?"
He looked me up and down taking in the blood smeared on my shooting star sweater, the only part of me that wasn't covered in blood was the bottom of my black slacks.
"An out of towner huh, so am I. Yahrnam does have a special way of treating guests."
"Yeah, the hostipal bills are ridiculous around here." I said dryly
"Hahaha…ha…" his laughs turning into coughs again.
"Are you alright?" I asked as his coughing fit died down.
"I have an incurable disease, that's why I came to Yahrnam in the first place. I wasn't able to receive the cure though, I don't have much longer to live." as he spoke a melancholy look crossed his face, and as soon as it was there it was gone. "Take it from me, you'll want to get out of Yahrnam as quickly as possible. There's no winning during the hunt."
"What's the hunt?"
"The hunt is an annual night where the city closes in order to dispose of the beast scourge." I just gave him a deadpan look."You don't know what that is either. uhhh…" he paused a moment to cough. "For a while now, citizens have been transforming into beasts."
"What why? Is that where the werewolf came from? Why did no one mention this when we got here in the first place? Ohhh, when I see that woodpecker robot guy again I'm gonna rip out his intestines and…."
"Woodpecker robot guy?" He said quizzically.
Did it again, I looked around avoiding eye contact. "Long story." I need to learn to control that.
"…Anyways," he drawled slowly, giving me a look of concern. "I'm not sure why, no one really knows." He said slouching back, "The church has dealt with it though so its never a been a problem." He paused as a thought occurred to him. "Did you say we?"
"Yeah." My emotions are being really tried today. "My brother Dipper and I came together, he uh...we got separated."
"Oh...sorry to hear that, where'd you lose him?" I pointed, and his eyes followed the general direction of my hands. I could see the pity on his face. His faced changed from understanding to curiosity. "That's Doctor Wentworth's clinic, were you guys here for a blood ministration?"
"Yeah, but we never met a Doctor Wentworth, just some wheelchair guy."
"Hmm…" He looked like he wanted to say something but must have changed his mind. "Well, I would suggest that you make a swift exit. Yahrnam is heading towards a terrible end."
" Yeah… about that," I pause thinking of how to explain how absolutely fucked I am. "I don't suppose you could tell me how to get out of here?"
He gave me a blank stare, apparently realizing that I'm hopeless. "Oh, well um…" He paused and scratched his chin reflexively, "I can't really stand and guide you out." He motioned to his body, before breaking into another coughing fit. After it died down he began again. "and even if I could I don't actually know myself, this place is a maze and if I could I would have left myself."
"So what your saying is that you can't help me."
He opened his eyes slightly wider in realization. "No not at all, actually if you need anything else I would like to help as much as I can."
"Can you let me in?"
"If you want to die of disease, by all means, join me."
"I'll pass thanks, already dodged that bullet once." I pause, my thoughts drifting back to when Dipper and I woke up. "Do you know what Paleblood is?"
"Paleblood…" He scrunched his eyebrows together in concentration, thinking hard before saying, "No." Seeing my unimpressed stare he quickly added, "But if your looking for blood then I would suggest visiting the healing church. They're the ones who know everything about blood ministration."
"You want me to go to the Church and steal some of their secrets?" I said, dumbfounded, "That's a great idea if I want to be burned at the stake!"
"Well, yeah normally you'd be…turned away," subtle, "but tonight is the hunt, you might be able to get in."
I rubbed my chin and considered his idea. If it what he's saying is true then I might be able to learn what the message meant, or at the very least find a way out along the way. On the other hand, if he's wrong then I'm going into a huge death trap. Granted I'm not really in a paradise as is.
Death Trap it is.
I turned back to Nate who had been picking his nose before quickly stopping and wiping it on his pants. Classy. "I don't suppose you can tell me where to get a weapon."
"Plenty of people are running around with weapons maybe ask them?" he shrugged.
I looked over to the ladder, I could still here the crazy man grunting from somewhere below.
"Suuuuure," as I turned back I looked again at the lantern. "Why is the street lamp so close to the ground seems like bad design."
He gave me a strange look and leaned forward to stare in the direction I was pointing. "What are you talking about?"
"The lamppost buried in the ground right in front of your house. What the hell else would I be talking about?"
He leaned further before slumping back down and looking at me questioningly. "There's no lamppost in the ground over there."
"What?"
"I don't see any lamppost, it looks the same as always."
"This isn't funny Nate."
"I agree, but I'm not kidding I don't see it."
What?
I slowly turned back hoping I had imagined it, but it was still there.
What the fuck
"Uhhhh...thanks for your help Nate." I said while still looking at the lamp, and walking away from the window.
"Sure...glad I could...help?" he slowly forced out. I could tell from his voice he was concerned for my mental state. "Hey, Mabel."
I turned and he was looking at me earnestly, "Yeah?"
"If you find a way out...can you come back and take me with you."
I laughed because he asked like a child begging their parents for candy. "Sure, of course."
"Promise?"
I made a motion for crossing my heart, "I promise."
He beamed and gave me a small two finger salute, "Good luck."
He wheeled away from the window leaving me alone once again. Dread began to set in as I returned my gaze to the lamp, hoping it would simply be his mistake and not my brain's.
Fuck.
