Daughter had her hand in Valkyrie's forehead. "Darquesse has a strong hold on her. I'm almost done." She looked to Ice, who was currently holding the skeleton back with shadows. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING! GET YOUR HAND OUT OF HER HEAD!" Skulduggery was roaring at Daughter.
"Mr Pleasant, we both know I'm doing her good. I was sent to kill her, not put my hand in her brain." Skulduggery still squirmed against the shadows.
Ice turned her head to look at Pleasant closely... Were there shadows in his eyes? Without braking the eye contact she called to Daughter "I think we have a problem here.."
Daughter didn't remove her hand from Valkyrie's head, but dragged her body with her. Daughter gasped.
"Yes, a very big problem."
Why am I always passing out? And why is it always around Skulduggery or when he needs me? I'm lying on the floor somewhere and I can feel a draft...Or the wind in general. My head is pounding and I feel like someone's pumped me with adrenaline and pulled it all back. My eyes open to the hallway in Gordon's mansion. Blondie is standing with the necromancer and Skulduggery is pinned to the wall with shadows. It feels like the ending to a really messed up party. Darquesse? I frown slightly as my head is silent. Empty. Normally she would make a remark about how I'm weaker than her, or how she would kick someone's butt.
Then I remember that Blondie came at me... Oh my Gosh...What has she done? I look back up but I'm not concentrating on the conversation the odd group is having. My legs and arms are like lead and I don't really want to move. The voices raise and suddenly I think they've spotted me so I freeze.
Until I hear Skulduggery scream.
My eyes flash to him as Blondie rips his arm from his body and the shadows do the other arm, Blondie says something and Skulduggery clearly says "No". I angle myself to push forward onto the newcomers when Skulduggery shakes his head slightly, something only I would notice. I look at him helplessly and I scan the hallway, I can't propel anything at them because there isn't anything here. I feel like a failure, Skulduggery needs me and I can't even stand. Yeah, why can't I stand again? Why is my head empty? It's not like Darquesse was a good thing, but she would come in handy to beat the crap out of these people. What had she said to me? Blondie was a fallen angel? What the hell was that meant to mean? I had nowhere to go and nothing to do.
The shadows rippled around Skulduggery.
"What are you doing?" Blondie asks necromancer. The girl looks worried but quickly regains herself "It wasn't me". Both turn back to Skulduggery, and I know what is happening. Vile. Skulduggery tilts his head at me and nods. I groan rather loudly as if I had woken up. Blondie turns to me "Feeling light headed? Yeah, get used to it. Come here." She makes a grab for me and I try to lunge away from her, just making out of her grip. Before she can go for me again I use the air to launch myself further from her. Unfortunately I go straight into the necromancer. She laughs and puts me beside Skulduggery. "Who taught you that? You looked like a fish out of water." Skulduggery mocks me and I try to elbow him. "My head hurts, what did she do to me?" I avoid his taunt as the two women talk quietly. "Ah, your headache might have something to do with the fact Daughter had her hand inside your head." I look at him, "You're not being serious? Her name is Daughter?". He returns the look "I would have thought you had more interest in why she had her hand in your head..." I nod "Happens more than you think." Skulduggery sighs at me. "Since you're getting along so cosily with them, why aren't you free yet?" I ask with a grin. Skulduggery remains silent beside me. The newcomers turn to us. "We need to take you somewhere." Necromancer flicks her hair at us. "Yeah, and you're under arrest for assault on sanctuary detectives." I state at her. Necromancer laughs "You, a detective? Nope." She pops the p. "You're more like his little lost puppy, following him around- bless, no actual talent." I look at her and she smiles sweetly at me. Blondie- Daughter speaks now "There seems to have been a mix-up. We need to take you to our superiors." I chuckle but everyone is silent. I realise that they mean Me not Skulduggery, who at my thought tries to wriggle closer to me. "Would you look at that. The skeleton feels something." Necromancer grinned "This'll go down well."
Daughter drags me down from the wall and I don't fight her "Ice, enough lets just get this done." Skulduggery doesn't break eye/eye socket contact with me as I'm dragged through the door and to a car.
