Will sat and stared at the computer screen. He huffed in irritation. Though Henry's system had run all night, they still were no closer to learning the identity of the mysterious circus girl nor finding information on the one called Haddock. It was maddening and a concern. They really needed to find out, and soon.

"Been up long?"

He turned and nodded. Kate looked energetic and ready for anything. It was one of her better traits.

"Too long. I can't get the image of that girl out of my mind. The fear of that Haddock guy was very palpable. It wasn't just the girl, either. Everyone there reeked of fear."

Kate frowned. "That could prove problematic if we need help saving the girl."

"I agree."

Will turned to watch as Magnus strode into the room followed by Henry and the Big Guy.

She halted by the desk as Henry scooted around her and collapsed into his chair, his fingers already flying over the keys.

"I hate to break it to you, Doc, but my search has nada. Zip. Nothing. Whatever this girl is, it's nothing that's been documented. I'm really at a loss."

"Maybe we are looking in the wrong spot," mused Magnus as she sipped her tea.

"Maybe, but I can't shake the feeling that we're missing something important."

"You have good instincts, Will. If you feel that we've forgotten something, then we might have."

"Ya really are an astute one, aren't ya, boy?"

Everyone whirled around at the same time and stared. Standing in the doorway was Mama Buntah.

"Who the hell is that lady?" snarled Kate as she jerked out her gun and aimed it at the intruder.

"Such an impetuous child." Mama Buntah shook her head. "Really, children these days."

"Kate, put away the gun. Mama Buntah is a guest."

"Guest? Guests don't just appear out of thin air unless they are the violent, troublemaking kind."

Mama Buntah laughed and Kate frowned.

"Such wit. I like this one, Helen."

Magnus grinned. "Never a dull moment here. I'm sure that's not why you came to visit. Do you have more information that I can use to help the young girl?"

"Aye, I do. Haddock has taken her to fix "her mistake." If you don't hurry and stop him, he's going to hurt her and the humans there."

"Where is he headed?"

Mama Buntah turned her piercing gaze on Will and he froze, drowning in the power of her dark brown-eyed stare.

"To end the ones she couldn't consume last night. I beg of ya, Magnus. Save the songbird. That monster will silence her, if he can't control her."

Magnus hissed and hurried over to the computer, her keys flying over the keyboard. The rest of the group moved to the desk and waited for her to update them.

"Magnus what is it?" demanded Kate as she caressed her gun.

"I found it. Several people were admitted to the local hospital last night. They are listed in critical condition because of their comas."

"Is that what you wanted us to see, Mama Buntah?" Will glanced over his shoulder and then spun around. "Where did she go?"

Everyone's heads jerked up and then they shared a confused glance.

"Does she always do that?" demanded Kate.

"Yep, pretty much," drawled Henry. "I mean, the first time I met her, she did the same thing. I want to know how she does it without tripping any of my sensors."

Magnus shrugged. "It is her way to come and go with minimum fuss. Gear up. We've got to get to the hospital and save the girl and the humans."

Everyone rushed from the room and quickly grabbed what they needed. They met in the garage, piled into the vehicle and raced toward the hospital.
