She was swimming. Gosh, how long had it been since I have swum? Probably when the vampires chased me off the pier. I think I've avoided swimming since then... I was in a beautiful ocean, clear and blue. Nothing really mattered, but how did I get here?
An island appeared in front of me and I swum towards it, like every island you would imagine, it had the golden beach and a leaning palm tree. I climb onto the beach and I'm in my work clothes, dry immediately. I don't feel tired at all, I could probably swim for hours but something tells me I need to be here. The sun is blaring down on my little island but the breeze keeps the temperature at the perfect level. It is my island, my own slice of heaven.
Surreal.
I know this for sure, that this slice of heaven is not real.
I also know that I will more than likely never see my island again.
But for sure, I know I am not alone.

I face out towards the sea and I don't hear her, or see her. She reaches my side and we both gaze out.
"This won't last." Her first words are casual, but they cut me.
I sigh "Of course it won't, be thankful we are here." I turn to her.
Daughter spares one last glance to sea.
"You shouldn't of taken her from me." My eyes narrow at her.
Daughter nods, "You are one and the same person. As seemingly weak as you are to me, you had her under control- I am sorry for interrupting."
I ignore her jab at calling me weak.
"What's it like being a fallen angel?"
Daughter looks surprised.
"Who told you what I am?"
I grin at her "Darquesse called you out. She was very respectful."
A moment passes.
"Is this what heaven looks like?"
Daughter turns back out to sea. "It is whatever you choose it to be, but no you are not in heaven."
I sit down on the sand and let the tide lap at my feet.
"What was your purpose? Why are you here?" My questions are only met by silence.
"If I tell you, it defeats the purpose. It has nothing to do with you, it is my journey alone."
My grin fades.
"How old are you?"
Daughter laughs. "2000. Give or take a few Earth years."
Considering I was meant to be hunting her for taking my magic, I hadn't seen myself having a conversation with her.
"So... How much do you know about magic? Does it affect you in any way? Are we here for a reason?"
Daughter turned to me and replied with "How much do you really want to know?"
I didn't think that far ahead. I knew I would wake up soon, back to the world where she had Darquesse and my magic.

Or should I just call my magic Darquesse?

Back to no Tanith and confusing things from Skulduggery.
Tanith.
"Do you know anything about possessed people?"
Daughter ignored my question "Darquesse... That is a strange name, a name that holds so much power. She could be so good. She prefers possession does she not?"
It suddenly clicked in my own mind.
"She possess' you doesn't she? That's why we're here... You want to get rid of her indefinitely, but you can't."
It all made sense. Darquesse herself couldn't be killed because she was pure magic, my magic away from my body. However the host body could be destroyed, both in her ambition and by outside forces. Darquesse would destroy Daughter's body.
I pause.
Darquesse is in Daughter's body.
A fallen angel, a creature of magic that was different.
It hurt my head, but Daughter wasn't from our world.
Darquesse was the most powerful from our world, and Daughter was something unknown.
The result from these two combined would be beyond catastrophic.

"Darquesse is you." A pause. "I would have to kill you and myself unless she goes back to you."
She wants to kill me.
My smile fades, "You was just being diplomatic on telling me you have to kill me."
Daughter nods, and the island fades away along with her.

However as I come to, I know that Daughter can't kill me.
If Darquesse and I reunite then... Well, the original host is back with her magic- we won't be able to be stopped.
