My sincerest apologies.

I woke with a start, however I should be accustomed to this by now. I knew I was in Skulduggery's car immediately just didn't know where we were going. Bit of a shock when I heard Ghastly speak "She should have woken by now. You didn't tell us any of this, you could have trusted us."
Skulduggery replied "You knew she was different from the beginning."
"Different as in good, yes. World killer, not so much! You should have told me, she should have told me. She shouldn't have felt she had to hide it from her friends."
I could almost see Skulduggery shift, I decided to wait out the conversation and see what I could learn. Besides, my head hurt too much to move any time soon...
Skulduggery now spoke "You need to tell her this. And Tanith"
Ghastly replied "I'll tell her about Tanith... You know if she does let go when she gets Darquesse back... You know what we have to do."
Skulduggery slowed down and said "You do what you have to do. I made her a promise."
I heard Ghastly shift and I felt a gaze. "You can't prote-"
Skulduggery cut him off "She wouldn't need my protection, she is incredibly hard to kill. And I made a promise that I would do it, no one else... Just me and her."

The car went silent.

Or as silent as a Bentley can be.
"If I lost my way, she would do it for me."

I cracked my eye open to see bright light, then Ghastly angle himself towards Skulduggery.
"Is there something you're not telling me?"
Skulduggery cocked his head to the side.
"There are some things even you don't know, old friend."

Ghastly stared at Skulduggery for a moment longer than necessary before relaxing back into his seat.
I knew, I knew what Skulduggery was talking about.
His dark side. Not even Ghastly knew, his oldest friend.
Probably because Skulduggery killed his mother without knowing.

Before I could pretend to awaken the car came to a stop.
Skulduggery broke the silence, "She's here."
