I walked in front of Ghastly and Skulduggery "This seems so... Familiar, I can't place where I've seen this before." I whispered but I knew they could hear me.
It hit me as soon as Skulduggery made suggestions.
This is the building from my dream. Where Skulduggery dies, and I can't do anything to save him.
None of this makes sense, Darquesse doesn't show until after the show down with Tanith... "Tanith will betray us." I sounded so sure, when I was so close to crying. "It's not really Tanith, how are you so sure? She wants to help get Darquesse back..." Ghastly asked the questions now and Skulduggery remained silent.
"How do you know the building?" Skulduggery's words were quiet and concentrated as he only looked at the building.
I turned to face him and sighed "It was the nightmare I had... You fought with Tanith and was badly injured, I killed Tanith and turned and you had died- to put it plainly."
Ghastly wiped his face and exhaled slowly, Skulduggery was silent and I turned back to the building.
"If it has broken lights hanging down from the ceiling and a chequered floor, don't get separated." I tried to say this cheerfully and started off to the building. Tanith would already be inside and locating Daughter and Ice.
I heard Ghastly and Skulduggery follow behind me and it struck me as odd, I am the only one without magic but I'm leading the 'group' of people that will potentially save the world for the umpteenth time. Fantastic.
The floor is chequered tiles. The lights are stooping low enough that I have to duck to avoid them. This is all a slap in the face to me, my friend could die in here like in my dream and all the figures keep adding up.
The darkest part of the hallway is where we hear commotion, we silently open it to a brighter room.
I doubt we could have been prepared for this in any way.
