Two Pizza's, a beer and a cut finger later...
My back hit the bed softy as Skulduggery rained down upon me. He was a force of nature when he kissed, all passion and all consuming- I guess after not having lungs for so long he forgot that humans needed to breathe.
I broke the kiss with a gasp and he rested his forehead on mine. "You're the best thing that has ever happened to me. Look what you've done, look at what you've achieved. You're both beautiful..." Darquesse stirred at his words and I almost felt her blush.
Really not cool with being here right now, tell him thank you... And I wouldn't mind a date with the other guy soon.
I laughed and repeated her words, Skulduggery hummed a maybe in reply and kissed me once more before pulling away. I sat up with him, trying to chase his lips- which were now swollen from our kisses.
Skulduggery was now frowning, looking down at himself.
"Oh god... Everything has happened so quickly... I didn't think to stop to ask if you even wanted this, I'm so sorry Skul. I wanted to show you how you made me feel, I didn't think it would end like this..." I whispered to him, the events finally caught up with me- I had messed with something that was a major part of his life. My eyes started to well up and I stood from the bed with my hands in my hair. "Jesus, I don't know if you even wanted this right away... Skul I'm so sorry I've just been pushing you and-"
Skulduggery cut me off with his mouth and said into my ear, "If I wasn't okay with this I would have said... Besides, I make you feel alive? When you're with me?" I nodded to confirm and he smiled a broken, crooked smile, like he was trying to get used to having a face again.
"I think we can work this out... But let's take it slow, after all, with our powers it looks like we'll have until the very end to figure this all out..." Skulduggery tried again for a smile at the end and this time it worked. I echoed his smile back and leaned in for a short, sweet kiss- I could taste the cheese from our pizza earlier.
A few months later...
I walked down the aisle and smiled at Skulduggery, who helped me up onto the platform and we took our places. The violins sounded and we turned to look. The wooden church doors opened and Tanith walked in, her white dress echoed around her and if I didn't know any better I could've sworn she was an angel then and there. The floor was littered with rose petals as she made her way to her husband who was barely holding back the tears. Skulduggery clapped him on the shoulder and whispered something into his ear, making Ghastly nod and smile. I helped Tanith onto the stage and felt her shake. "Remember- food and drink is on whoever cries first." I whispered the encouragement to her, she chuckled and managed to regain her posture- which was better than her husband was doing.
Skulduggery winked at me throughout the ceremony and as soon as the papers were signed he grabbed my hand and pulled me out into the Bentley, I laughed and tried not to wrinkle my blue bridesmaid dress. He only let go of my hand to open my door for me when we made it to Gordon's house- where the after party was. We made our way in and got everyone prepared for the newlyweds to arrive, and led the cheers as they came into the house. Their first dance was beautiful, and Ghastly had never looked happier- Tanith hadn't stopped smiling, and I had lost the bet when I cried at Ghastly's speech.
It was a while later when we went outside, the dark night all around and the cold setting in for the night- and I released the fireworks into the air. They exploded in reds, blues, gold and white, and looked like the perfect backdrop for the best day for Tanith and Ghastly.
I gripped onto Skulduggery while they exploded, and looked down to see the engagement ring glitter back at me from my left hand. Skulduggery's arm wrapped around me and pulled me closer, his hand resting on the tiny bump yet to form in my stomach.
You should probably tell him soon.
Yeah, but this is Tanith and Ghastly's night- you know how he'll get.
True. We're going to be in for a bumpy ride with this one...
I smiled back up at the sky, getting the feeling that maybe there was someone watching. Watching and smiling back at us.
I know I said we might get steamy, but I loved the idea of ending it sweetly!
Tanith and Ghastly getting married! I would love it! I had to end it sweetly, I couldn't resist! What do you guys think? Should I rewrite it?
