"Guys, can I talk to you about something for a second?" seventeen year old Victoria 'Tori' Vega asked her group of friends. It was lunch and the six teenagers were all in the blackbox theatre. "Guys?."
"Give him back" Robbie yelped, leaning over towards Rex who was in Jades grasp.
"Nope" Jade smirked, popping the 'p'.
"Come on Jade, give the poor boy Rex back" Beck tried to persuade his girlfriend.
"I'm bored now" Jade groaned. The dark haired girl shoved the retro-puppet in her bag and left the room and her group of friends behind.
"Jade" Robbie cried, jumping up to his feet and grabbing his bag before running after her.
"I better go and help" Beck explain before standing up and walking towards the door.
"Beck" Tori pleaded as he pushed open the door.
"Later Tori" he called over his shoulder before closing the door behind him. Tori turned back to Cat and Andre - the last two of her friends remaining.
"Andre, Ca-"
"Gotta pee, Gotta pee, Gotta pee" Cat squealed, cutting Tori off. Next thing either of the friends knew they were watching the young red-head run out of the theatre.
"Well chica, I gotta ggo see Anthony about this song and grade" Andre informed getting up from his seat. The youngest Vega grabbed his wrist.
"Please Andre, I really need to talk" she said desperately.
"Later Tor okay, I can't have a D. I'll call you tonight." Andre left the room and Tori was on her own again. Every time she tried to tell her friends they never listened.
The waiting room was dimly lit; just 2 small lights on the wall. The doctors were still not allowing anyone to go and see the younger Vega, not even her parents or her older sister, causing everyone to become slightly agitated. The room was silent - so silent that you could hear a pin drop. The two older Vegas were clutching each others hands and both looked like they hadn't slept for weeks. They had earlier told the six teenagers that they could go home and rest and if any news was given they would contact them and let them know; but no one moved. They all stayed put. The words Jade had said earlier were ringing in her head - 'I wasn't there for her when she needed me, when she needed us, none of us were, so I'm going to damn well be here for her now'. Cat had since tired herself out by crying and had fallen asleep on Robbie lap. If you looked at the young redhead you could see the creases in her forehead and the uneasy look on her face. Her small fist were white as she clenched the awkward boys shirt underneath her. Robbie gently stroked the young girls hair while whispering sweet nothings in her ear trying to soothe her. Andre sat next to Trina. He hadn't muttered a word to anyone since he arrived - just apologised to Mr and Mrs Vega for being a 'shitty friend'. Beck, who was always known for being calm and collected, was running his hands through his messy hair. Trina had her head resting on the dark skinned boys shoulder. Her right hand was clasping his left one while she tried her best to keep herself together. Last but by far not least, Jade West. The dark haired girl was sitting on the floor in the corner, away from everyone else, with her head on her knees and he hands grabbing her hair. Out of everyone she seemed to be taking it the worse. The young goth, who seemed to make it her duty to make the youngest Vega miserable, was broken. You could hear her heavy breathing across the room and her sobs were painful enough to break anyone's heart.
The young Canadian boy sighed before lifting her head and looking at his girlfriend. His eyes glistened with fresh tears which he would not allow to fall. His girlfriend was broken and there was nothing he could do. She was upset because of Tori. And Beck couldn't do anything to stop what was happening. He couldn't make everything okay. He couldn't make sure Tori will be okay. He couldn't go back in time. He couldn't stop Tori doing what she done, no matter how much he wanted to. All he could do was be there for his girlfriend and friends and try to make this hard time a bit more bearable. He stood up out of his chair and took careful steps towards Jade. He lowered himself to the ground next to her. Jade lifted her head slightly to look at Beck. Her mascara was running down her cheeks. Beck held his arms out inviting Jade to sit on his lap. As she did so he wrapped his arms around her torso as she clutched his shirt and layed her head in the crook of his neck.
"Shh, Babe. She'll be fine" Beck soothed. Jade body stiffened before she jumped up out of his reach and groaned.
"Don't say that. You don't know that. No one does. Don't say things you don't know. Don't lie to me. Don't give me false hope. Don't you dare fucking do that to me" Jade rambled while pulling her hair.
"Jade, calm down -"
"Don't tell me to calm down" she shouted, her face turning red.
"Jade" Beck tried.
"NO! How can you all just sit here and wait? She could be dying right now and none of us are even trying to do anything. It's like none of you even care -"
"Jade" Beck warned."
"even care about her. No wondered she tried to kill herself. She tried to kill herself. She would have rather been dead than live the life she has. We're her family and friends. We're the closest people to her and yet none of us noticed a thing. We were all too busy getting on with our own lives to notice what was going on in hers and how she was feeling. We were all too busy being selfish. How can any of us say we care when we weren't even there for her when she needed us most?" Jade screamed.
"Jadey?" came a soft voice. The young goth turned to face the small redheaded girl who appeared to have just woken up. The childlike girl rubbed her eyes before stretching, yawning and standing up. Her shirt rose above her navel before falling back down into place. "You really think she's not going to be okay?"
"Kitty"
"No, don't lie to me. I'm not a child so tell me the truth" she cried.
"I don't know Cat, none of us do because these stupid ass doctors won't tell us anything! I want to believe she'll be fine and she'll make a full recovery but I have no idea. You didn't see how bad she was when I found her, none of you did. I thought she was dead and she still might die and its all my fault... it's my fault" Jade cried.
"Jadey" Cat whimpered, walking towards the taller girl. Her eyes glistened with fresh tears as she saw her best friend fall apart at the seams right in front of her.
"No" Jade stated. "I have something for you... all of you." She looked around the room to see all eyes on her. Trina gave her a single nod before digging through her bag along with Jade - both of them pulling out the envelopes. "I found these. They we're lying on her bed when I found her. There's one for everyone" Jade announced as she passed them to her friends and Trina passed them to her parents"
"Thank you Jade" Mrs Vega spoke, a small smile on her lips. Just then the door opened and light streamed into the room.
"I'm sorry to interrupt but are you all here for Victoria Vega?" the doctor asked. Each civilian nodded. "You can come and see her but Just family at the moment" he announced. All three of the Vegas walked towards the door, following the doctor.
