A/n Omg I'm so so sorry for taking so long to update my story! ;~; Thanks to Yellowtail of SkyClan; he sent me a message that really motivated me to write so I'll try to post chapters more often! =) Sorry for making you guys wait, enjoy chapter 28! (omg O.O That rhymes lol)
Feather's POV
Icecloud loves to push my buttons. She likes to do it because she finds it funny when I get mad. I'd find it funny too, since I'm younger and weaker and stranger than her. She's friends with everyone in the Clan. What am I? The little wannabe warrior who sits in the corner, plucking feathers from her fresh-kill to weave into her nest that sits in the apprentice den by itself. Talk about the 'don't play with your food' rule.
As we enter the camp, Jayfeather and Foxleap are running towards me, excitement flaring in their eyes. Oh boy…
BAM! CRASH! SCREECH!
"Mother of- Would you quit running into me like that?!" I yell.
They jump up and down, circling me. "Come on, you."
"Yeah, hurry up already."
"Firestar's starting a Clan meeting."
I feel weak in the knees, no, not because Jayfeather had gone head first into them and barged me over, but because I get the feeling Firestar is going to send me to exile for not saving a clan member and then leaving to kill the cat in order to get revenge but in the end cleaning them and helping them back on their feet so they can get away from my threats.
Yeah… There's a 99% chance that's gonna happen. But Foxleap and Jayfeather might've been able to convince him, which leaves that 1% of hope for me. Oh goodie.
"…ThunderClan, join beneath the Highledge for a Clan meeting."
Most of the cats are already in the clearing, no longer half asleep, but alert and ready to start the day. They get up and pad to the centre of the clearing, deserting their breakfast or Brambleclaw, who had just finished giving out patrols.
"I, Firestar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn."
Is he looking at me? Why is he looking at me? Wait a second… I'm the only apprentice in ThunderClan. *Gasp* I'm becoming a warrior!
"Featherpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do." I croak, but I quickly clear my throat and flush as I repeat myself over the loud silence in the clearing. "I do."
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Featherpaw, from this moment forth you will be known as Feathersong. StarClan honours your," Bipolar-ness and tendency to break the rules? "Independence and compassion. We welcome you as a new warrior to ThunderClan."
"Feathersong! Feathersong! Feathersong!" The chants fill my ears and pride sparks in my chest. I'm a warrior…
Graystripe pads up to me. "It's not your fault Hollyleaf died. You fought Sol like a warrior and then blamed yourself for letting him kill her. You didn't though. There was nothing we could do; even if he'd left instead of put up a fight, she'd already lost too much blood."
I sigh. "I guess you're right."
"And sure, you didn't really cope with it well; leaving the clan to get revenge. But your feelings are what make you strong. You just need to control them. I've never seen anyone so driven. You catch on pretty quick, you know." He winks and then gently rubs his head against mine. "And you're very observant too. Remember when you saved my kits from that snake? And the Clan from that falling tree?"
I smile. "Yeah… Thanks Graystripe."
He smiles back before walking up to Millie to greet her, and playfully sweeping Briarkit towards him with one paw.
Lionblaze and Icecloud pad up to me and grin. "Congratulations!" He says. Icecloud nods. "You're a warrior!"
"Thanks guys!" I grin. "I'm kinda excited to move out of the apprentice den!"
"But the warriors' den is full…" Icecloud laughs. "Looks like you'll be in there for a bit longer til we can upgrade it. It's getting a little crowded."
Foxleap is suddenly beside me. "Don't worry, I'll move my nest into your den so you won't be lonely."
"Yeah, we can all move in with ya!" Icecloud says excitedly as Lionblaze nods.
Cinderheart bounds over. "Congratulations, Feathersong."
"Thank you, Cinderheart." I say, enjoying being called by my new warrior name.
I grin sheepishly. "I'm in love with my warrior name."
"It does have a nice ring to it, doesn't it?" Jayfeather meows as he joins us. He gives me a lick on the head. "Congratulations."
I turn to him. "Okay, so how did you manage to convince Firestar to, not only forgive me for leaving without permission, but, make me a warrior as well?"
"He just told us that he thought it was time you became a warrior… We didn't say anything."
I widen my eyes. I just don't get it… As far as he knows, I'm a loner who joined less than a moon ago and since then, I've broken rules by loving a medicine cat and being irresponsible (by encouraging Lionblaze to see Heathertail). And I'm not the most helpful cat in the clan (*cough* being chased by a fox and scaring the prey away *cough*).
Then a thought strikes me. Leafpool. What if she told him about the prophecy? What happens to Dovewing?
Just as the questions pass my mind, Whitewing hurries excitedly out of the medicine cat den with Birchfall. "I'm going to have kits!"
Everyone congratulates her, including me, and all I can think about is Ivypool and Dovewing and how hard it will make their lives with the prophecy that will complicate their lives.
A/n Ahh short chapter ;~; I promise I'll post another one soon! I just thought it would be good to end it here, cause the next chapter will be the start of 'The Forth Apprentice'! Thank you for reading!
